Myself, my wife, dog and 10 y/o hiking machine
Enjoyed this trail on a warm Sunday afternoon.
The 0.5 mile from the parking lot to the beginning of the loop was flat, steep and honestly not that interesting. Once on the loop the trail and terrain
Became way more interesting. The constant sound of birds and ever changing views made this a very enjoyable loop. There are a few benches
and plenty of natural seats where you can sit and rest or snack. We are huge wildlife enthusiasts and we were rewarded with sightings of vultures, hawks, ravens, rabbits and about 12 mule deer.
This is a very good option for anyone wanting a remote hike without driving to far or being too challenged. We used this for practice for our Grand Teton/Yellowstone trip but we were so impressed we will be back.

Easy ‘walk in the park.’ About a third of the trail is paved, the rest is very well maintained dirt/sand pathway. Great Rocky Mountain and foothill views that stretch from Fort Collins to Golden. Compliments to the city of Longmont for creating this great local open space.

Easy trail. I went clockwise around. Only one other person on the trail. Wind was super crazy today, I had to brace myself a few times. I did get to hang out with some deer. I enjoyed myself.

Up until the bridge (even a mile or so after), was packed snow, no traction or snowshoes needed. After that, started to punch thru and didn't even make it halfway and lost the trail at one point due to snow drifting. Recommend snowshoes after bridge based on conditions today.

We hiked this from 95th. Somewhat flat and boring but constant view of the mountains. Almost right in between 95th and 75th is an elevated rock ledge with a fantastic view of Boulder below. May try a night hike from 75th to take in the lights.

Currently mostly snow covered with a hard pack. No spikes or snowshoes needed!

Beautiful trail however this trail doesn’t allow dogs on the whole trail. Dogs are only allowed on the gunbarrel loop section that’s more north. Went with my three dogs and had to turn back to do Teller Farms instead.

2017 Tacoma SR with 2 inch lift and 265/75/r16 KO2’s. No lockers. Most of it I could do with 2wd, until the 2nd Parking lot (intersects with sugarloaf). After that you can stay on a maintained trail or take the burly way. I’m not sure I could mtb up that section let alone take any vehicle. The 1st parking lot area that really looks like an open area with a few fire barriers made of rocks. From that area on there are some cool offshoots to play around with that are pretty easy but still a good practice. The maintained main trail is really just a bumpy dirt road that even a suburu can get into, except for maybe the snowdrifts.

Great beginner trail, my first time today and I would say it was easy but very rocky and bumpy. Other than that great views and a great time

It's close and easy to get to. Great camping on either end. Boulder County is awesome about marking the forestry roads.

Super great! We got there early in the morning so there was plenty of snow. We saw a couple of people on the way but we mostly had the trail to ourselves. On the way down it had gotten quite packed down and there were lots of people.

Ripped this on an ‘07 Grand Cherokee with no problems! Moderate traffic, but not bad at all. Have fun!

I’m a beginner and had no trouble. Excellent mountain views.

This is a great place for an easy winter hike. It offers nice views and is not very steep. It is a popular place on the weekends with several dog walkers and the like. Nice sunset too. Hiked the mesa trail and the shannahan loop yesterday - really enjoyed the views of the scenery ! Be aware to wear proper shoes when the snow melts - both trails get extremely muddy and slippery.

A wonderful spot! The mountains and trees were coated with snow, and it was just so beautiful! It was a warm, sunny day, perfect for a hike. Lots of friendly people and dogs along the way. Definitely check this place out!

Should be rated easy, at the trail is extremely flat with a good surface for walking.

Very nice and well maintained trail. BUT....the directions by Google Maps do NOT take you any where near the trailhead. I access off the park at Lakeview Circle and Lakeshore Drive

Fun winter hike! There’s snowpack on the trail but not enough that we needed special equipment. Snow boots worked fine. We started at South Sourdough trailhead and hiked around 1.5 hours, then turned back. There were people doing off trail skiing and snowshoeing. The portion of the trail we did was fairly easy. Uphill but at a low grade.

I have a previous review but I went back and redid the trail. I'd say I was probably angry this wasn't rated easy, and I'm not sure if i did the whole thing last time. I have a full video up if you'd like to take a look:

Great beginner trail. Would rate as easy. Had areas on the edges of the trail with obstacles to tackle.

Beautiful views, easy walk.

drove a stock subaru crosstrek and had zero issues. had a lil snow but nothing crazy. rocks were the biggest issue but most vehicles could maneuver it. should not be moderate difficulty

Easy trail with a couple of very moderate trails to camping locations.
Views are decent.
Patches of snow, but dry for the most part.

Best trail in town.

Easy walk, mostly clear of snow, beautiful views

Dull. So dull in fact that it's almost interesting how dull it is. So I'll say it's impressively dull, which makes it impressive so that would be the opposite of dull so then it can't be dull anymore, so that makes it not impressive so it's impressively dull again and oh never mind. Now my brain hurts It's just dull. Dull and windy .

Meh. Just kinda goes up in a straight line and then back down the same straight line. On a bike it's a loose grind up and then a fast but uninteresting down. If you look up "meh" on wikipedia there might be a picture of this trail.
