Although the park is open in certain areas, this trail is currently closed. Looking forward to coming back in the future though.

Amazing trail! Easy to follow and breathtaking views. Muddy and icy for some parts as expected so be sure to have proper hiking footwear. Enjoy!!!

This was such a fun trail with breathtaking views! It had just snowed and the red rock against the white powder was so beautiful! The uphill was a bit challenging for someone who doesn’t hike a lot, but the views and experience were truly amazing!

Easy, brisk trail, great one for beginners

Muddy but a great quick hike

Really great trail! It was snowy most of the trail with some muddy areas. But the views were amazing. Highly recommended!

Lovely hike through the forest. Best views are in the first mile and then it’s about enjoying the serenity of the forest. Follows and crosses the stream which is mostly frozen at this time of year. Trail was well broken, mostly packed snow the whole way, some bare spots. Could do it with boots, traction was helpful. Could use snowshoes but not necessary. Made it to the 4 mile mark where it flattens out and there are some nice logs to sit on for a snack.

Took family there to snowshoe Dec 29, 2018. Was a beautiful hike, though not enough snow to merit needing snowshoes. Would love to return in summer

Did trail on 1/3/19 after the snow storm on 12/31. It was quite a long walk from the parking lot to really get into canyon. The trail is a road that follows the creek. There is a lot of bikers and runners since it is flat and wide. Looks like you can drive but all park and water trucks driving through. We did see big horn sheep and deer. Not challenging trail for waking.

On a January day, 59 degrees, full sun on clear paths and trails, a great way to escape for a couple hours. Yes, there are lots of geese (but so do the golf courses). The flowing brook was picturesque with ice covering some of it.
Ice fisherman were on the reservoir- no idea if fish were caught. The trails were not crowded and the bikers respectful.

First time on this trail, not too crowded. I went just before sunset which turned out to be perfect for this hike! Depending which way you take the trail, Good views of the sun setting over the peaks and deer coming out to graze!

Easy hike, not a lot of tree coverage. Rating as a 3 for not having any spectacular views.

Pit toilets at the trail head were clean.

completed this trail in September 2018 as a bike ride. Trail is easy to ride, a little more difficult towards the end, but overall, not a bad ride. We saw 3 big horn sheep. Pretty open trail, not a lot of tree coverage, and there are some places you can access the river for water.

There is a pit toilet at the parking lot at the trail head which was clean.

One of the highlights of our trip to Estes was driving this road. Fantastic views. Saw two moose about midway through the trail. Be prepared for large ruts and sharp turns. 4WD vehicle with some ground clearance is recommended.

I did this hike today with my boyfriend and we were amazed by the breathtaking, stunning views all throughout the hike. Overall it’s an easy to moderate hike (I say moderate because there are some uphill parts and parts with big steps). It was very cold today so we had to stop periodically to catch our breath (being from flat southern Florida at 0 feet elevation, it was a little hard for us to breathe the thin air) but overall a great hike. It took us an hour to complete, but that’s with taking short breaks and stopping for pictures. Highly recommend this hike for the magnificent views!!

Easy. Up and down hill. Nice pictures of the rocks.

Sunny and 55 on Dec 21st ☺️

The bike ride was awesome!!! The Long Horn Sheep were out and about! Spectacular! Wear gloves if biking! Go between 11am-2pm - Get as much sun as you can!

Did this last summer nice hike could do with out the cars though

Great hike! This trail is not too long with great views and some elevation thrown in. We had our kiddos (under age of 10) and the last 1/4 was uphill so it was tough for them. When we do it again, we will start at the southern most trailhead so the last leg is downhill.

Trail was super easy with nice rock formation views. Takes you right around to the amphitheater if you wanted to detour and hike around the theater. Overall, easy family friendly hike.

I'd put this on easier side of moderate, parking is kind of sketch

I didn’t manage to include the overlook/old mill back side to this hike, but I did loop over to Chimney Rock and down to Elk Falls. With that short loop, it still came out to 11.5 miles in total. This one is not a particularly difficult hike in terms of elevation, but the distance definitely adds up. With that being said, this is one of my favorites within Staunton state park. All of the trails are well marked and well maintained, and I always encounter lots of deer along the way.

Nice easy day hike. Lots of options to extend into a longer outing or shorten into a quick explore. Dogs loves it! Started at 16699 Golden Hills road that has a few parking spots

Great escape from the city, as I did not see a single soul on my entire hike. The trailhead was not exactly right across the street from the parking lot as my map had indicated. Look for the gate in the fence.

Not worth it in December, still have to pay $10 to get in and the trails and discussing with goose poop. Go somewhere else and skip this crap trail.

Very fun and easy, but definitely not wheelchair accessible!!!
