I went today - it was rainy, overcast & cold. My views definitely weren’t what other photos show but still a good little trail. I would consider this trail easy definitely not moderate as it’s listed. It’s got a couple climbs but nothing crazy. My phone says I went 3.1 miles in 1hour 28mins. The app also says like 500ft incline - the posted sign by the trail says 700ft. Wasn’t crowded maybe 5 other people on the trail.

Amazing hike! Very well maintained, amazing views along the way, and the tough hike worth it when you get to the top! We were lucky: no bugs, no rain, no clouds! Super recommended.

Beautiful views along this trail! take a nice break at the lake before heading up to the fire lookout - it gets more challenging as you go on, but is well worth it!

Totally worth the hype if you go while the flowers are blooming. Bring bug spray and a swimsuit and swim shoes. Swimming in the lake was amazing but the bottom is super rocky. The firewatch lookout is wonderful, but packed with people. Ranger was really friendly.

Camped at Mowich Lake the night prior, so I left from the campground instead of the trailhead (adds about a mile). Once you make the turn at the pass for for Eunice/Tolmie, it’s a bit annoying as you lose some elevation and you know you’re going to have to go back up to get out. Flies and mosquitoes were out in full-force in the meadows around Eunice Lake. The final mile up to the lookout is pretty relentless, but the view from up there is so worth it. Plus a couple of marmots!

Excellent hike. Cool day, challenging hike up, but easy hike down

What an amazing hike to Tolmie Lookout! Although it was foggy and raining...we made it to the top! The road in to the trail is rough but most cars can make it. The trail is in EXCELLENT condition and signs to guide you. The last mile is grueling but push through it. For the most part this is an easy trail... no pets!

What a beautiful hike! The 14 or so miles of gravel road to get there was rough but my Toyota Corolla handled it just fine. The bugs near the top will swarm you if you stop so prepare for that but otherwise this hike was 10/10. Really not too difficult and gorgeous views all around. Mt. Rainier was hiding behind some clouds but we got some good peek a boo views and it was so worth it. Definitely do this hike!

This is one of my favorite hikes! I’ve tried it a couple of times, but all the other attempts were cut short due to rain, snow, cold etc. I finally got to the top yesterday 9/5 and it was so beyond worth it! The hike itself was challenging, but not too long— and the views are unmatched. I noticed there were quite a few flies but they usually would buzz me and move along (they didn’t attempt to bite or land on me). This is a great hike for those who like a variance of upward and downward hiking, as opposed to straight up and straight down. Also, be prepared for the gravel road, don’t forget to bring $30 for the park fee (I saw a lot of people not paying, which was not cool at all), and get ready to spend a solid amount of time at the top! On a sunny day, it’s absolutely breathtaking! Bring some binoculars and you’ll see the mountain in incredible detail!

Breath taking views almost throughout the entire trail. Crowded but tolerable. I did hike this on Labor Day and it was very clear day. Almost no shade so bring a hat and sunscreen. Mostly paved to a point and then all dirt and rocks. Recommend going further up to High Skyline. Better views of Rainier. Bathroom at Panoramic point. Bring water. Absolutely spectacular how close you get to Rainier. Would do it again.

I'd say this trail was easier than moderate. Short and beautiful. The fall isn't tall, but it's neat.

I’m newly learning the value of giving back to the wonderful hiking community, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on Tolmie Peak. Overall this was the 2nd best hike I’ve been on this month; the views can’t be beat, but the company on the other hike was far more fun. I went on this hike over Labor Day weekend and had a fabulous time! The sun was out, the birds were chirping, and there was a general feeling of being one with nature. The hike itself was pretty crowded and took me about 2.5 hours roundtrip. At the top, the lake was a vibrant blue and, while cloudy for parts of the time, we had a stellar view of Rainier! This was a good hike to spend ample time at the top, enjoying the lake area and the views. My favorite part of the hike was the first view of Rainier partway up. Hope you can find time to enjoy this hike before the end of the Seattle summer!

Hiked on 9/4, the Tuesday after Labor Day long weekend and the trail wasn’t too crowded. Although it was a cloudy day, the view of Eunice Lake was still amazing. Spent almost an hour by the lake enjoying the view of crystal clear water. Hiking on, the view from above was even more stunning. At the summit of the Tolmie peak, I wasn’t lucky enough the see Mt Rainier due to the cloudy day; however, the cloud covering the mountains actually added some feelings of mystery, which was very intriguing to me. The hike between the two lakes could be a little bit plain, but the view at the end totally worth the effort. Highly recommended.

A fun family hike. Loved that it was covered most of the hike, slight elevation but not hard. Great little look outs to the river and waterfall.

We went on a day that was suppose to be sunny but was incredibly foggy instead so we had zero views but it's a nice trail with a couple of stunning lakes. There is lots of room at the top to sit and have some lunch without being too crowded

Left the trailhead around 3 am to watch the sunrise from the top. Pretty incredible. We enjoy doing night hikes to watch sunrise and this did not disappoint. The mountain views can’t be beat. Glad we did it overnight through, passed a lot of people on our way down-this hike gets crowded.

Gorgeous, peaceful

Hike was easy going with minimal elevation changes. Bench Lake teail has some branches that are geowing into the path but puah thru to breathtaking photos of Mount Rainer and a crystal clear Lake. Snow Lake was nice but views were obstructed to the west (Mount Rainer) but you could see all the way up Unicorn creek and see Unicorn Peak. Took us about 2 hours and about 2.5 miles in total.

Great hike with amazing views. Would recommend not going during peak days or you’ll be doing this hike with 100 other people. Shaded for almost the whole hike. Bring $30 cash for the pass

There’s a 20 km road to get to the trailhead. It is too much for people that never drive off-road, but this is probably the best gravel road I’ve ever seen in my life (kudos to the park). The trail is very nice; most of the time it is in the trees so there is shade. The trail goes by two beautiful lakes and then climbs up to the lookout. After the lookout the trail is again too much for a lot of people. You walk basically along a ridge for a good 200 m to the end of the trail. Unfortunately it got cloudy by the time I made it to the peak and wasn’t able to grasp all the beauty of the place. Will have to return at another time. A Tip for hikers in the Rainier area; it seems you have a better chance of seeing Rainier in the mornings or late afternoons. As I started the trail around 10 am, the mountain was visible by the lakes; but by the time I made it to the peak the clouds took over.
