So I did this hike today (OCT 14th) with my wife. It was snowing when we pulled up to the lot but we decided to trek on anyway. The views were beautiful. We saw a total of 6 deer (although two of them may have been the same ones just several hours apart). We also saw a moose. The going got tough towards the top because the last mile or so is about .6 mile elevation. Investing in some spikes for the shoes is probably a great idea. Some gaiters are probably not a bad idea but hiking poles definitely help to probe the snow. The lake was frozen and it was gorgeous. I forgot my sunglasses so when the sun came out the snow kinda hurt my eyes! Some hikers that were there before us said the route up to Pfeiferhorn was too tough because the snow was too deep. Overall great trail. Easy to follow.

We

Wish I'd brought gloves and spikes cause it was damn cold after the saddle and slippery on the way down. Beautiful hike though, will do again.

The arch wasn't nearly as impressive as the hike leading up to it.

An easy hike with amazing 360 degree views. I recommend adding the Joint and Druid Arch for a perfect day hike.

Lovely trail! sunset was really nice here

This trail is amazing.. Waterfalls scenic views and a wonderful arch.. Even a mini cave. Do yourself a favor and hike this trail!!

Hardest hike of the summer! But I had the place to myself and the views were worth it! Lots of different terrain and scenery!

By far, one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.

The drive to the trailhead was about 3 hours from Moab, with the last 30 miles on dirt road. Due to heavy rains the previous 3 days, spots were very muddy but passable with an AWD crossover vehicle. I would highly recommend contacting the Hans Flat ranger station for road conditions. If wet, you will not make the trailhead in a two wheel drive, low clearance vehicle. It took us well over an hour to cover the 30 miles, but in a decent 4WD, you should be able to cut that time a bit. Also note, there were about 3 spots where the sand blows across the road and dunes build up and get deep. So again, check with the ranger for road conditions.

Once we made the trailhead, we lucked out when we met a NPS Volunteer who had been holed up in his camp for the previous few days due to rain. He was eager to hike in with us, and we ended up with a guided tour through the canyon to the Great Gallery. He was had a wealth of knowledge of the history of the panels, canyon, and geography.

The hike itself is not very difficult, and even with the river running it was still fairly easy to find you way. There are a few spots where there are additional smaller pictographs, petroglyphs, and dinosaur tracks to spot. We didn't follow our notes since we had an impromptu guide, but reviewing them later they are pretty accurate.

The pictograph panels along the way were almost a teaser to what laid waiting at the Great Gallery. What you will see there is beyond words for me.

We only saw two other folks out there that day enjoying the great weather just below the trailhead.

This is definitely a hike and an experience I will never forget!

Really good view, really steep. Good warm up for upper bells reservoir in my opinion. West slabs scramble is a lot more adventurous, but couldn’t find anywhere to rate.

This is definitely not hard. It’s moderate. It seems long though and not as pretty as red pine in my opinion. The lake is amazing though and better than red for sure. Without the ending I’d have given a 3 star actually.

This isn’t too bad. Only hard for about a mile. If you do this hike though, you might as well go one more mile to pfeiferhorn in my opinion though. :)

Awesome views. Get an early start with the heat. Not too hard and well worth the effort!

Short, easy hike for a great reward at the end! If you have good, grippy shoes you won’t have an issue with this hike at all. Since majority of the hike is just up a huge rock.

Went in on September 28. Really windy. Great spot at the lower lake. Didn’t see the bear, but at 6 pm Saturday night a forest fire to west threatened to blow in. Got the heck out through smoke and darkness. Check the fire conditions before you go!

Suuuper steep but 100% worth the view. One of my favorite hikes of all time.

I did this hike on the morning of one of the first dustings of the year. The snow level was about 7500 feet. As many have stated, it is fairly steep but I didn’t find it that strenuous and it wasn’t technical. You accumulate almost 2000 feet of elevation gain in less than 2 miles. I reached the top in about a hour. There was limited visibility when I reached the summit and there wasn’t any cairns marking the summit so i wasn’t sure I reached the summit but the AllTrails app marked my spot at the summit. As far as summits go, this one is very accessible and achievable in under 2 hours. Great hike to do with your dog because it doesn’t require any scrambling.

Great time of year to go. Wild temp change from sweating hot to super cold towards summit. Definitely exhausted at the end but totally worth it. Didn’t actually need that much water. 1 liter this time of year was good for me. Friend took the wrong path near top so be sure to stick to the trail. You reached the top when you find the black mailbox.

Its snow time and its kind of moderate..Half of the trail covered with light snow, cold at the lake. Moose sightings and fall leaves make this trail awesome!!

We went to perfect timing with fall leaves and weather. At the top (waterfall) , it can get cold so we were glad we had a good jacket (next time I will bring gloves for my kids hand). Good thing we had a friend who knew exactly where to find the location, it can get little tricky off HWY 89. We started to hike around 3:30pm and were able to catch the sunset by 7pm. It is dog friendly but little kids may need help to go all the way. Even if you don’t go all the way, it is fun to bring family there. I was told every season this hike is different. Probably not in mid summer where it can get really hot (unless hiking in the early morning). Can’t wait to return back again.

Awesome hike with beautiful views. Took us 3 hours and 15 minutes to go up and back. Pretty warm going up but glad we had layers going down. Passed 5 people the whole time and we started at 10 am.

Great hike. We clocked it at 8.2 miles. It's a nice gradual incline. Falls colors were spectacular. At the actual lake, most of the color was already dropped, but the lake itself is a gorgeous emerald green color. On a Wednesday with a mid-morning start, we only saw one bike and 2 or 3 other hikers. Do this one!

Beautiful.. but as others have mentioned, it becomes overgrown about 3.5 miles in. I ended up turning around as I was running and not trying to push through that amount of brush.
I did see a mountain goat near the beginning and overall enjoy the challenge of this trail.

真的很棒,最后一段的攀爬那简直就是精华。很累,费腿。
值得一去,但是强度不小。

Did this hike yesterday and it was so worth it to see the view at the top! It’s defiently a harder hike with a steady incline. On Sunday not many were using the trail and it was cloudy so it was a great day to go. Only thing was you start getting into some steepness and straight rock climbing the last little bit. It was also crazy windy so just prepare for it. I’m sore now but I will do it again!

Hiked this trail just this past Saturday, starting at 9 am, and it was one of the most colorful fall hikes I've ever been on. So gorgeous, especially starting out in the morning with fewer hikers. Now is the time to do this one! The trees at the lake are all gray but the entire way up is the main attraction. I encountered many bikers but all of them were pleasant. Spooked myself and thought I heard some growling about 1/3rd of the way up but on the way down I determined it to be some water pipes gurgling (it was right at the stream). Overall an amazing trail.

Late Fall weather has the colors on the mountain popping! The weather and temperature was as perfect as it could be. Cooler in the morning, but warming quickly. Dark clouds loomed over the mountain most of the day, but we received no rain or snow.
From Aspen Grove it took us 4 hours and 15 minutes to summit. Winds on top were calmer than usual, only blowing small rocks.
Our 1 year old mix breed pup loves the hike, and hasn’t had any problems with his feet on the rough terrain.
The trail had lots of good people on it today.

Real steep but doable. There is some scrambling near the end on some pretty exposed rock. Take your time on this one, the views are worth the hike.
