Beautiful trail!! It starts off with a steep incline but it tapers off . Love the views of the forest! The smells of pine are embedded in the hike!!

If you stay on the main trail it is a 90 minute blast.
The payoff is a terrific view of the southern part of the Monterey Bay and a great sweat.

Drive up the fire road until there is a gate blocking the road, and use that parking area to save a bit of walking. The falls is absolutely beautiful; keep going, you’ll know when you get there, as you can go no further. My dog really enjoyed playing in the creek and hiking the trails without worrying about bikers. The last mile to the falls is slightly more technical terrain, very fun. When I went in mid October the falls were strong enough to stand under and cool off for the return trek.

Great trail! This is our second time hiking it. The first time, we had to cut it short due to starting late and having to leave early. Today, we had all day... We started counter clock wise, so we got the steep decline at the end. Next time we’ll do it the other way. My 7 year old had no issues keeping up. Plus, it’s super dog friendly, which is huge for us!

shady and good height gain

Great dog friendly trail!

Beautiful trails and views. I love that the dog can be under voice control only in this park!

Good trail! It has a good bit of more technical terrain, perfect for training.

It was worth it to get there early: get a good parking spot and beat the crowd to the falls! It was a lovely hike, and I was lucky enough to get a bit of solitude at the falls. There was a decent bit of water, even though it's been a while since the last rain. I'll definitely be coming back!

beautiful hike. pretty easy with some moderate inclines.

Do the loop anticlock wise if you want to take it a little easier on your self.
Hot during summer so I would recommend doing it in wintertime.
Overall a decent trail.

Great hike to watch the sunset, incline in the beginning but decline on the way back! Enough tree shade, even on those hot days. Perfect trail to run as well.

Steep in spots. Views are breathtaking.

The dirt road in was not rough at all. You do have to get there early as parking near the gate was almost full around 10:30am. From the parking lot, we walked straight to the gate where the trail begins. We took a wrong turn at the Porter House Site, veering down and to the right instead of staying left and continuing uphill on the Loma Prieta Grade. Thankfully, we ran into someone who brought their map that the ranger gives you at the park entrance (entrance fee is $8). We crossed the creek 12 times on the way in. The trail was a little muddy in a couple spots but it’s not bad. There were a few places where we had to scramble over rocks. The falls are about a mile past the Bridge Creek Historic Site. Definitely plan on getting into the water and under the falls—super refreshing even if it’s a little chilly!

All in all, we had a great time on the hike and it was a mostly shaded trail. Do bring bug spray as there are a decent number of mosquitos and watch out for poison oak.

NOT A HIKE you pay $10.25 to enter what is basically a gated community and there are no trails. I’m disappointed in you, California state parks.

Beautiful day, beautiful hike.

amazing uphill hike , loved it with my boyfriend we seen amazing small blue crystallized rocks, snakes , milk thistles, wild berrys and the view was so beautiful from up top . loved it!

This is a perfect evening hike the 1st 2 miles are uphill But worth the view.

Great trail for trail running/ hill workout. Not too steep and good footing.

The last mile of the trail is the only real interesting part and requires some careful hiking as well. The falls had decent water considering the last rains were a month ago.

Also you don't need a 4x4 to go to the actual trailhead which is a mile ahead of what the app tells you. I wish I had taken it instead of parking early since hiking that part was really not worth it.

Beautiful trail! Keep going until you reach the end of the valley where the falls are - you’ll know when you’ve made it. The trail involves lots of ups and downs and scrambles over rocks and trees but is well travelled. The falls are delicate and lovely and there’s a great fallen tree for a bench. A great little hike!

Great little hike with kids, uphill the first 2 miles but worth the views.

Super fun for the dogs! The redwoods are beautiful. The creek isn’t very impressive, but enough to cool off the paws. Be sure to give the pups a good bath; lots of ticks and foxtails around. Google maps has the trailhead and parking lot accurately if you put in “Byrne-Milliron Parking Lot.” There are statues and trinkets around that were fun to look at, plus a beautiful vista at AJs.

Whichever direction you do this loop, you are guaranteed a workout. Serious inclines get you to some seriously worthwhile views. The forest is well-maintained and lovely mixed second growth redwood forest, with a very large and very old albino redwood at the end of the Milliron spur, no longer a loop due apparently to logging activity. This is a gem of a place. I love to bring my dogs here and let them run up and down the hills until they’re tired. Bring a pen to sign the book in the mailbox at Eagle in Tree.
