Excellent hike that’s fairly easy.. you hike through burned out sections of forest due to the Rice Ridge Fire last year. It is definitely a glimpse of nature’s life cycles. The payoff at the end is a stunning waterfall! Great day hike!

Hiked this little trail on our way out from west glacier to the great falls airport and it was AMAZING! Easy and well marked trail, gorgeous all the way along the lake, mostly shaded, and a treat of a waterfall at the end! Awesome highly recommended.

This was our first trail using all trails app. The trailhead was easy to find and has a bathroom. The hike starts off a slight bit steep but levels off nicely toward the top. The lake was really nice. We tried to walk to the second lake but the trail was a lot harder to follow and we were running short on daylight so we turned back. All in all great hike.

This was a fun hike along the lake. I would rate this as Moderate, due to the rocky incline towards the end of the hike.

Reaching the waterfall, you will also get a nive view over Holland Lake.

Amazing hike! Also swam in the lake, which was a great temperature in September. Easy out and back and great views!

Easy hike. Moderately used. We only tracked 5.8 miles. The waterfall was beautiful

The previous reviewer is correct about the elevation. It is ALL uphill and very rocky. It was a tough hike with a backpack on. This was my first hike at this high of altitude, too, and it took a while to adjust. Once my ears popped a few times I felt so much better! Even though it was difficult, it was absolutely beautiful! Lots of amazing views and waterfalls. There's also many places you can access water along the way. A good portion of the trail is also shaded which was nice because it was a very hot day. The third bridge is still down but there are two logs set up that are easy to cross, one to walk on, and one to hold on to. Went to Blue Lake this time and will be definitely be doing this hike again to check out Twin Lakes.

A wrong turn down creek rather than up made this a 9 mile hike rather than the 6 I had planned. However, all 9 were delightful! There is no signage indicating the falls are to the left after crossing the creek, so beware. My black lab loved this hike because of all the water!

Pretty awesome trail, and length was about perfect for toddler and baby in backpack with a dog... beautiful views and waterfall was very refreshing and beautiful. Only downside was ton of mosquitos everywhere!

We loved this trail, biked it, it was a nice challenge going up, and fun going down. The lake is beautiful.

Beautiful hike, trail is fun and the scenery was tremendous. Some rough spots but manageable.

Beautiful, crystal clear lake at the end of a easy 2 mile hike. First part of trail had some fairly steep climbs but nothing really tough. Low 70’s & no bugs or fish.

I found this one extremely tough yet rewarding! As it has been mentioned there is a couple of false summits which you need to prepare yourself for. When we got to the last one, we meet a young couple who had to turn back they just couldn’t go any further. They where only one last push from the top...
At the top there is a book to sign and like a geo cash where you can put something in and take something out, so fun. And the view is spectacular!!
I would encourage you to bring water, a snack and a clean pair of socks to change out at the top to help alleviate blisters. ( I didn’t and paid for it) But for all you Athletics... You’ve got this. Lol enjoy!

Amazing views from the top!! The reviews are right about the road to the trailhead, a larger vehicle is needed. It was pretty windy up at the top so I was happy that I brought an extra layer. Planning on doing the whole ridge of the Bridgers soon!

Beautiful view, trail is well maintained.

Great hike !! Easy hike with elevation change to help keep the cardio up! Beautiful day and views of Holland Lake as well as the waterfall.

Bonus:
Brown bear watch in affect.
Odd Yoga gal posing for photos #go back to California
Nice pool at base of the waterfall

We enjoyed ourselves and were able to get out of the smoke from left coast fires.

The road up to the parking lot has a lot of washboard areas which made the drive less enjoyable, even in a 4WD truck. Parking was adequate.

The hike was very enjoyable. Lots of variety including lakes, rocks, streams and alpine meadows. We didn’t run into any bears but we had bear spray just in case.

WARNING THE ROAD IS TERRIABLE TO GET THERE. takes about 40 minutes to go 7 miles. I recommend an all wheel drive or truck. I camped at the campground then departed in darkness. I had 3.03 miles one way to the top. well worth it was an amazing view. I highly recomend it.

Hiked this trail in late spring. the falls were raging. very pretty and my dog loved the lake.

This place is awesome! Great hike

Beautiful hike, pretty easy. My old St. Bernard handled it well with nice lakes to stop at for him to cool off. A lot of char from fires last year but still super pretty. Falls are worth every step.

loved it! we have a 1 year old and 3 year old and our 3 year old did great! pretty easy hike for most of the way until 0.5 mile before reaching the falls is a little climb but boy .. so worth it. So beautiful up top!! I highly recommend it!

Here's the deal. The smoke from fires hasn't been great, but the views and hike to Upper Holland lake are still worth the trek. After spending 4 days up in the area this last weekend, the 7 miles in and 2200ft elevation gain make for a solid 14mi round trip trek if you're looking for a full day. In the event you're bring gear to camp, there are plenty of solid options around the lake ( i recommend going to the east side) to have the best tree cover in the event of a rogue storm. Otherwise, just get out and enjoy it!

This place is beautiful! Seems like a hidden treasure. The lake is stunning, blue, clear water. Then there is a great hike to the waterfall (Holland Falls) - it's a bit uphill, but the views are worth it. Bring bug spray as the mosquitoes come out in the evening, but are not too bad. Highly recommend.

it is a great hike, but if you're not used to hiking up for a while then you will be tired! there are many false summits so prepare yourself mentally to be disappointed when you see another peak!! we hiked in the dark on our way out and the trail was easy enough to do it with ease!

Great hike with nice views. Moderate incline that was not too strenuous.

Great hike! Mostly flat trail with a lake along the way and a pretty waterfall at the end. Low traffic and we got the waterfall area to ourselves.

Spent 4 days at Blue Lake. We backpacked in and spent a few nights and went on a couple nice day hikes to explore from there. It CAN be done as a day hike, to go up and then come right back, but I like how my friend put it, "Why would I wanna leave this?" It is a beautiful place to spend a few days. This was my very first backpacking trip ever, and it will definitely NOT be my last. We hiked around Blue Lake over to Thunder Lake and over to Thunder Rapids - VERY cool experience over there. Then we kinda strolled over to Granite Lake, but turned back as the weather was getting pretty hairy.

The one thing is to ignore the elevation indicators on the map...this was ALL uphill, with the second part after you cross the creek going into pretty strenuous hiking at times through several switch backs. Not too bad necessarily if you're just day hiking, but can be pretty intense if you've got 50+ lbs on your back.

We went during the middle of the week and came back Saturday morning, which I would say is perfect, as there were quite a few people that started coming up Friday night, and then a TON of people coming up Saturday. It's a very popular hiking area, which is good and bad depending on what you're wanting. Blue Lake is great to come up to if you're looking for a nice basecamp area to do other day hikes from. The primo spot is right in the middle of the peninsula where we set up out eating area.

This was a great flat hike, there was some elevation as you approach the waterfall but easy for little kids to hike. The scenery to the waterfall was not so pretty due to the forest fire from 2017 but the end of the trail was well worth the hike. I found some mushrooms and new growth along the way
