Rode my horse to Hyalite Lake and it was beautiful. Easy trailer parking, friendly folks on the trail, and very curious dogs! Trail was muddy in places where the stream flowed but the falls along the way and breathtaking views makes this trail stunning. A must see!

Absolutely stunning !! It has river, lakes, views, glacier.. The hike, the views, the glacier lake with ice floating at the top! Take rain gear if chance of showers, it comes in quick. Lots of wildlife, we saw a moose coming up to thw beach where we swam in a lake to drink..

Road to trailhead brutal. Take cars at your risk. Hike is steep and wooded, then opens up to switchbacks. Fully exposed on hot and sunny days.

Gorgeous!

Hiked 9/5/18 from shuttle stop. Apparently there's a new trail, because this is a shorter route than going from the car parking. It goes through a nice clearing with mountain views, but does not go by St Mary Lake. An easy, pleasant walk with both mountain and waterfall views. Be sure to look east (away from St Mary Falls) for nice views.

Hiked 9/4/18 via the 8:30 boat round-trip and ranger-led hike, about 7 miles. Perfect pace for this 69-yr-old from Alabama in moderate shape. Great scenery despite high clouds covering the mountain tops. We saw big-horn sheep and later a moose family by the upper lake.

Hiked Sept 6th . Started from Many Glacier Lodge at 9am, great beginning trail. Great mountain and lake views. Relativly easy for first 3.5 miles. Took way too much stuff ( planded for bad weather and such) could have reduced pack weight by 10 lbs. Took water filter - great for refill at the top, helped others refill as well. did not snack enough along the way to keep up the energy . The last 1.5 miles were trying to make me quit the climb but all the younger and older hikers passing us and urging us on got us to the top. Took 5 hrs to make it up. epic climb and made my whoe year ! Checked off the Bucket List !took 4 hrs to get down and missed the boat literly to catch the ride back to the lodge so walked the last 2 mils compleatly pooped. From Indiana we did not plan or prepare for shuch a climb but glad we did it. PS: our Iphone recorded 15 miles total. This is a must do climb.

As a 69-year-old flatlander on my second day, I went only from Logan Pass to the Haystack- Mt Gould gap and return (Sep 3). Skies were mostly cloudy and there was smoke in the valleys. Even with that, this stretch is very scenic and fun. The cliff portions are wide and not scary. I intended to climb Haystack Butte, but lacked the energy and the trail did not look official or maintained.

Took the first boat, then hiked to Upper Two Med and walked the south shore back, about 8 miles total hiking. A good moderate hike. Nice views toward and around Upper lake, and also along the west part of the south shore trail. The suspension foot bridge sways both up/down and sideways, and has only low cables as hand rails.

Hiked 9/17. I'm not particularly athletic so I had doubts about being able to finish this trail (10 miles and uphill? Yikes) It was surprisingly easy, the incline is gradual and because you stop frequently to let people pass and admire the views you never get too tired. The only time I was out of breath was the steeper portion just before you reach the glacier which doesn't last long at all. It took us around 6 hours including a handful of short stops on the way up and a half hour break at the top. I'm from the northeast and have never seen anything as beautiful as what I've seen here.. With the fall colors, it was too much!! This one is a must. HIGHLY recommended. P.S. There are pit toilets a half mile before the top.

It’s one of the most gorgeous hikes I’ve ever done! The views are spectacular the whole way up. Once we reached the top, there were a good amount of people there, so we kept walking along the water and the crowd died down. We went with a group of 6 people, 4 of us are more experienced hikers and it was a bit challenging at points but over all easier than expected. Our other 2 friends, who are not experienced, did find it pretty challenging, but with a good amount of breaks, we all made it up to the top together in about 3.5hrs. I HIGHLY recommend this hike.

The entire hike up to the lake will take you a bit. The terrain gradually gets more difficult as you climb. There was a moment when we found ourselves off trail so pay attention to your turns and direction.

The views are tremendous and the lake is beautiful. Totally worth the hike. Bring lots of water and bear spray. The lake has ample space to camp on it's shores.

Hiked this trail on 9/20/2018. Relatively easy to moderate hike with a little bit of switch-backing during the last mile. Lots of bear scat on the trail so be safe. Bring a good bear spray and a firearm. Hike with a few people if possible.

We saw no bears, but plenty of small wildlife and beautiful scenery. The lake at the top is magnificent. No snow or ice as of today. Took us a total of 3 hours in and out, including the 30 minutes we spent hanging out by the beautiful lake. I would highly recommend it as the trail has very light traffic (literally only 3 other people showed up for the hike on a beautiful Thursday). It is also very well marked throughout. Great experience!

Hiked today and saw several areas at the beginning of the trail with scat and some bear tracks around the horse loop. Took almost 2.5 hours to get to the lake and a little under 2.5 on the way back down (average hikers). We saw two moose along the way and a deer. We didn’t see any bears until we were pulling out of the many glacier hotel parking area... on the cliff side .. saw several more up on the mountain on the drive out as well as one on the side of the road about .5 miles from the many glacier exit. Carry bear spray and be aware. In regards to the lake, it’s the most beautiful water I’ve ever seen. Weather is temperamental on this side so be prepared for wind, rain, and shine. Bugs were not bad. 9/20.

Beautiful hike! Fall colors were gorgeous. Say that this is an easy to moderate hike instead of a moderate hike.

Hiked yesterday and it was gorgeous. Started around 10am and hardly anyone else on the trail. It was cloudy/misty out which helped because didn’t have to worry about sun. The Lake didn’t have any icebergs but large snow/ice pack surrounding that looked like a glacier. Very quit and peaceful at the lake. Took a detour and hiked to lake Ptarmigan made it about 13 miles total. Saw 3 grizzlies, 1 mom and 2 cubs on the hill near the end of the hike going back to the parking lot. The only downside is the drive to get to the trailhead- it was 2.5 hours in the car from The west entrance of the park. Totally worth it.

Awe inspiring views from start to finish are provided by this half dirt, half boardwalk trail. Hidden Lake Overlook gives you a great sense of the alpine habitat without too much stress and features an absolutely stunning view at the lookout.

The trail has two staircases divided by a quarter mile of flat terrain. Given the boardwalk and short distance, this can be enjoyed by the entire family.

This is a trail that requires you to pay attention to the weather. The trail begins at roughly 7,000 feet, and when we hiked the trail in mid September, temperatures were 10 degrees colder at the trailhead than reported by rangers. Moreover, visibility can be a challenge because low-ceiling cloud cover can completely engulf this area of the park, even if it is bright and sunny in the West Glacier area (the trail is on he mountain that essentially “blocks” the clouds from moving down through the valley).

My favorite... can't forget the fact that I was all alone in the wilderness for nearly 4 hrs with no human being in sight in Grizzly country. Amazing views , beautiful glacier falls ... Siyeh hike is an out of this world experience.

Love it... absolutely love it. Don't miss the strenuous hike to the top of Grinell glacier, that's the icing on the cake.

Words are insufficient to describe the beauty of the place.

Views plus being close to a glacier makes one feel as though one is in heaven!

Excellent hike with amazing views

Absolutely beautiful scenery & an easy hike for our group. The fall colors were starting to show (mid-September) and we didn’t encounter any bugs...or bears. There is little to no shade, so definitely wear a hat and bring sunscreen. You’ll want to take photos! This might be in my Top 5 for day hikes in the Beartooths given the incredible views.

Anazing hike! So many diverse environments. 4:45 of hiking steady, 5.5 hrs total.

one of my favorite hikes of all time. spectacular views the entire way and the glacier lake and waterfalls are amazing.

an amazing hike in all directions. easy hike if you are in shape. a glacier park must do!

Like are you even kidding me with these fall colors gosh DANG Montana

Excellent Hike with gorgeous views.. not too heavily trafficked after Labor Day! My GPS stated that the entire hike out and back was 13.7 miles.. the descent into turquoise lake can be a little confusing but otherwise it’s an awesome hike!

Wonderful views and a very peaceful hike. I only saw a handful of people when I hiked in September. Is easy and short. Great hike if you need a light day after heavy hikes the day earlier.

Iceberg lake is a fantastic way to see glaciers up close without much strain or challenge. The moderate difficulty rating is likely attributed due to exposure and distance, not incline. Expect a more leisurely hike compared to what other GNP trails (Highline, Grinnell) provide, but the difficulty to payoff ratio here is outstanding.

If you are a novice hiker, this is a great trail to calibrate your skills with GNP. Highly recommend doing this first as it will help you gauge your skills with some other trails.

There is a good amount of exposure throughout the hike, so be prepared for sun and rain depending on the forecast. Inclined in general are gradual with the exception of a quarter mile stretch early in the trail.
