Mom and Dog Tahoe City Hikes Map

Beautiful easy hike, great views and good for introducing snowshoeing as a fun activity.

This is a short but steep hike, well marked trailhead at the base. Went on a January morning, and it had been in the 60s the days before. That resulted in the base of the trail and the entire upper 1/3 of the trail being solid ice. There was some scant snow to use as well as small boulders and scrub brush to grab onto. I saw two people coming down before me and then 3 more coming up after. Everybody was slipping and had a fall or two. I was glad to be by myself and not have my dogs for they would have pulled me right down!
At the top is an utterly stunning and secluded vista of the entire lake and surrounding mountains. It was simply breathtaking. A little treasure. Be careful on windy days, it was gusting over 50-60 mph up there and nearly blew me (a quite substantial woman) right off the edge. It was quiet and I spent a lovely 20 minutes just enjoying the view.

Amazing views! Uphill all the way there but downhill all the way back. There are historical signs to read and bench’s to rest on... even a picnic table.

We hiked the trail today. We loved it! Hiked with our dog, well-packed snow, easy to walk with just snowboots. Many people had snowshoes to go off the main snow-packed trail. Kids sledding, a few cross country skiers on side routes. Pretty busy today- gorgeous sunny day, but quite cold and gets windy at some turns - wear a hat!
Beautiful views of snowcovered mountains and canyon.

nice day hike, good views

A beautiful spot especially at sunrise, and for when the family is visiting!

Great for sunrises over Crystal Bay and for when family visits. Interesting historical information makes it a more engaging trail.

Awesome trail for beginner snowshoers like myself!

Awesome, short hike with great views. There was a lot of packed snow on the route, but it is paved the whole way. Wasn't crowded when we went, and there was plenty of parking along the street (before the gate).

It was a beautiful and fun easy hike. It has great views of the lake. if you are short on time and want a beautiful hike this is the one. you first walk through the trees then eventually along the mountain. Mid hike it gets rocky so just be aware of your stepping. We went Thanksgiving weekend and the river was flowing but just not at full capacity. I would want to do this hike again in the Spring to see the river when the snow melts. but overall it was a beautiful hike!

Good walk for children. It is uphill, but doable for our 7- and 4-year olds. The view of Lake Tahoe once you are up the hill is spectacular. It is paved all the way.

Beautiful stroll on Thanksgiving Day.

We will be back in spring! Don’t forget your goggles if you go in winter:) great hike for Thanksgiving Day, we brought snow shoes in with us. Great location, well marked, super wide trail :)

Clearly marked trail next to the lake! Most part of the trail was paved, and there’s a nearby trail that’s accessible to wheelchairs too.

This is a wonderful easy hike that is easy to access. Getting to the falls is pretty easy until you get very close, then the trail becomes a little unclear. Even so, just keep going straight and you will see where the falls are. Right now the water is barely moving. Would love to come back and check this out after a snow melt!

Flat, easy trail. spent time playing on open beach, trail pretty well marked. lots of trees, mainly shaded which was cold on day like today. kids and dog never complained. I'd do it again!

Nice easy hike with some great views. Parking can be tricky so get here early when you can. Definitely steep at some points, wear good shoes. Lovely views of the lake.

Amazing views of Lake Tahoe if you take the trail to top of Eagle Rock

Overall a short and pretty easy hike with some rocky spots towards the end. Would love to go in Spring to get a chance to see the waterfall after the creek gets some snowmelt. The creek is peaceful right now, and there’s lots of space to take in the view. Beautiful views of the lakes and granite rock formations!

Super easy and short. Amazing view. Great cell service, sat in a rock and caught up on office work while overlooking the lake.

Nice trail to walk - short and easy to complete in a little over an hour. Views over cascade lake and lake tahoe were very nice.

Perfect trail if time is limited. The views of Lake Cascade and Lake Tahoe are amazing!!!

Loved this little short hike. It was a great introduction to my mom’s first visit to Tahoe region. The kids did great as it was a short one. Highly recommend it!
