Nice afternoon walk, not too hard at all. Some light scrambling and nice views. Definitely good stuff for the proximity to NYC.

Great Hike with plenty of variety and fantastic views.

As everyone else says, the first bit is intense! Wear good boots and be ready to use your hands. A lot.

No one else on the trail on a chilly November afternoon.

We tried to take the first trail to the left about a mile up to get back to the road. Could not find the trail, even though the app says we crossed it two times!

A great day out.

Great easy scenic trail

All in all it’s a great trail. I would rate it difficult the rock scramble was a little intense but doable. Got to say I had two mountain dogs and it was a little of a challenge for them. No they were fine but no litte dogs unless u have a back pack

Nothing short of beautiful! I have done tons of hiking this year especially and this overview was amazing! We were standing above the clouds looking out at snow-capped mountains while standing on the edge of a rock we just scrambled up! This time of year (11-25-18) the scramble had lots of ice and snow but that wasn’t going to stop me! For anyone scared of the climbing or nervous to due conditions just keep following the cliff face until you get to the easier assent! Either way enjoy the views!

Easy but icy and snowy walk (spikes made it easy today), not a lot of effort but huge payoff in the view which is breathtaking

Great reward with little risks. You get beautiful views with a low level of intensity or danger. This is a very well kept trail and suitable for any level of experience.

This hike gets crowded on weekends, as many city folk can take Metro-North right to the trailhead. The map shows this as an out-and-back trail, but there is a loop back to 9D that doesn’t have you traverse back down the rock climb (take the white trail to the red markers- you will see a sign that tells you to head left back to 9D/parking lot). I did this hike in November, and there was snow-ice at the top, but it was not too bad.
There are four peaks, each a better view than the last. Climbing up to the first peak is the most difficult, but the views are unparalleled.
Wear good treds with ankle support!

Lovely hike - definitely not hard but very long. Ended up being ~12 miles because we parked in the lower parking lot. Very busy - recommend getting there early

Great views. Easy. Paved

The trail itself is awesome, especially the first 1.5 miles. But the crowds are out of control.

Such an awesome experience! The rock scramble was intimidating at first, but the view is worth it all!

Just a gorgeous trail... lots of varied terrain that’s challenging but do-able. Especially beautiful in late May/early June, but gorgeous all season long.

amazing views and the labyrinth was challenging but rewarding to hike

Beautiful views!

One of my favorite hikes .. I’ve done it twice and it was even better the second time. Trail was easy to follow and it was short enough and not to difficult for first time hikers. There are beautiful views the whole way up. Can’t wait to hike this again !

we wanted a short hike and I thought this would be perfect as it is lightly trafficked - unfortunately for us we paid $30 to have lots of familes in front of us and behind us wanting to do this hike. this is definitely a moderately to heavily trafficked hike. we ended up not scrambling up the rock face because of how many kids were already working doing so and it seemed like it would be a very slow process as a result. we met a bunch of hikers who were coming down and who mentioned how busy it was on the ledge. not for us.

If you’re heavy or out of shape this will be a difficult hike for you. The first 1.25 mile is a 75 degree rock scramble where you are literally on your fours the entire time. It’s exhilarating if you’re a regular hiker. I hiked all the way up to the fire tower on the white trail & it is totally worth it.

Do not come back on the yellow trail - that adds another 6 mile to your hike most of it downhill.

Really well marked trail.

Great workout. Did the trail to the tower and back on the yellow trail. 10 miles, but so worth it. Was a gorgeous day. From the top of breakneck to the fire tower I did not come across any other people, but I did start at 7:40. The yellow trail coming back was quite wet from all the rain we had, but very pretty with the fall colors and the running streams. This was my first time doing the yellow trail on this side of the mountain and I had to back track a few times to find the yellow markers and use my GPS. So if this is your first time, be on the lookout for yellow markers. Well worth it, but it's quite a workout.

Incredibly fun and challenging hike! Just be cautious going down as it gets a little confusing which trail leads back to the trailhead.1

I hiked around the lake to Castle Point then back to end of lake and to Beacon Hill FP. Very windy day, but sunny. Gorgeous views. The wind had blown a lot of leaves off the trees but still beautiful.

Worth doing again and again and again.

Breathtaking hike. Except that it’s no joke. It’s as hard as it gets with great rewarding views! You might think you are done but it is a long stretch of rock scrambling. I did the white trail and then red trail which then led to a waterfall immediately after which there was the yellow trail.

Absolutely beautiful! The fall foliage was beautiful.

This was definitely not as hard as made out to be, it’s long, about 8 miles in total but not really not that difficult. I was expecting a few rock scrambles but there isn’t anything that I would call a scramble like at breakneck or crag rock. There is a decent sized section when you are walking through a stream and that for me was the hardest because it was slippery. The ascent up was not that bad either. It was a great hike with spectacular views, but not the adventure I was expecting from some of the reviews

Love LOVE this trail. Such a great workout. Can be very difficult if your are not used to resistance or using your knees, pulling yourself up. The views up here are breath taking. I enjoy it mostly in the fall. The best part is visiting silver spoon for an amazing meal in cold springs

Had an awesome time. The white trail is a rock climbing at first, very challenging but for me it felt easy and fun. My first hike and out of shape but enjoyed it and I lead the way al the time :), it can be done!! Trail is well marked and easy to follow, even after a rainy day the hike was great and fun!! Views were breathtaking and will do it again and again! Fall views are amazing!!! Loved it!!
