Don't be like us - check the weather beforehand so you don't end up hiking here when it's 100° outside

Very nice trail with a good mix of views. Will definitely come again.

This is a good trail when you just want to get some distance in. It’s not too challenging and has enough shade to make it doable on an 80 degree afternoon.
The down side is not much scenic variety - mostly laurel and eucalyptus forests.. I like something a little more dramatic or varied but still totally fine and nice to get a longer hike without a long drive..
I’m not the fastest hiker and this took me pretty much exactly 3 hours.

I really liked this hike. I did it clockwise. Eagle View Trail is a bit overgrown. If you have convertible pants, I suggest you use them on this trail if you like to hike in shorts. My legs are scratched up a bit and itchy.

Be aware on McCorkle Trail that there are some single tracks that look like it's a trail. It may well be, for the cows, and I found myself dragging out my gps to make sure I knew where I was going. It ended up okay, but a little unnerving.

I saw turkey vultures, turkeys, quails, and deer. The trails were littered with cow manure. I did not see one bicycle, and just a few hikers. More at the end of my hike than anywhere else.

I will come back in the late fall when its cooler and greener.

Great trail for beginner or people with some hiking experience.. close to moderate but not too difficult. If u do the hills starting from west side of the lake towards north and then looping down south on the east side of lake will be better than doing the other way around unless u r a hiker who loves going up grades.. the grade from the east side of lake for a 1/2 a mile is steep.. but otherwise the hike is generally easy to moderate.. great views.. about 9 Miles long. 3- 3 1/2 hrs

Hiked this trail looping the opposite way, which seemed easier in my opinion. Great views, loved the experience, however if you start mid-afternoon there are endless clouds of bugs in the forest areas by the creek. We spotted someone with a dog that was wearing a bug net around its face, and I wish I had done the same. Seems to be large knats, so nothing that seems to bite, but I kept a brisk pace through those parts just in case.

Great loop for a trail run. Not a ton of views but a good amount of sun/shade and change in terrain.

Great opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of floors and fauna.

Great hike. Highest place I’ve gotten to in my backyard

I have only run part of the trail but I love it! It is a great workout with some steep inclines. I did get lost a few times but that added to the fun.

Great hike, look forward to going again.

Last week, nice one-hour trail!

By far my favorite trail this year. I took the Hetherington Loop both ways to get off the fire road a bit. No real waterfalls left, but the creek was still moving a little bit. I stood beside it and it reminded me of the Calm app. Even with the shade, it heats up quickly, so take lots of water and start early. I finished at 11 AM and was sweating pretty good.

I did the loop clockwise as others suggested. Wonderful views as you start ascent. Love getting off the fire road and onto single track. I saw a doe with her two youngsters, turkeys, and lots of lizards. There were some loud talkers and bicyclists early on, but once you get off the main trails, it quiets down a lot.

Majestic lake views, varied terrain, an equal mix of sun and shade, not overwhelmingly crowded and super clean. Bathrooms are plentiful too.

It’s a challenge on a hot day.

This hike is closer to 10 miles and while it is doable for humans on a 90 + degree day, it is not safe for dogs. I chose this hike because I was looking for a long, mostly shaded trek given the heat. The hike has beautiful views and a lot of shade as described, but I did not expect to find several stretches of scorching hot pavement that my dog and I could not avoid. I would recommend doing this hike on a cooler day or in the early morning. Dog owners beware.

I biked this trail today, I'm new to mountain biking and this was very tough for me. I had a lot of fun and I see myself coming back here again and again to work on my biking.

Lots of shade, gorgeous views and very accessible.

Excellent hiking area. Trails are marked and easy to navigate. Mines are short but cool. Scenic!

Great place to walk but watch for the bikers for they travel fast on the path.

Really beautiful hike. I took the the Hetherton Loop up and back to avoid the Donner Creek fire road.
6.1 miles out and back.
1200 elevation gain. Moderate with some tough rocky steep areas.
Best I feel in spring or after a rain and not too muddy.
Will definitely do again.

best done in spring when the creeks are flowing freely

I love it! Lots of shade and the trails are beautiful.

This is on the easier side of moderate. The first section along the creek is completely shaded and flat. It is a nice ramble. Then, the trail shifts to chapparral as you pass Lone Pine picnic site. It is all uphill, but a gentle incline that makes it easier with patches of shaded bits. The Curran trail brings you back through the tree line and near the beginning of the creek trail. It is a beautiful hike and good for all levels. Nice vistas of the valley and interior of Tilden.

Simply one of the loveliest walks around. It’s amazing to have this piece of nature so close to home. Easy, but there is a relatively steep beginning and end to this trail.

Came with a group of 8. Parking fee is needed for this regional park. They do have plenty of parking and some bathrooms. I thought it was a beautiful trail with some very steep parts. Not sure I would consider this an ‘easy’ trail but more towards the high end of easy to moderate. Loved the beautiful trees surrounding the trails. Most of the trail is pretty wide but watch out for mountain bikers as they will go downhill pretty fast. It’s a very popular trail and people going on this trail are pretty friendly. I would come back again!

I love this trail! Would be a five star except it has a lot of people on it. Lots of trail runners that come right up on from behind you without any warning. Lots of fitness types on the trail. I expected it would be crowded because it is free to park and nearby Brentwood. Wouldn't mind the people so much, but there were some really loud talkers!

The trail is nice and wide in most spots. I saw lots of turkeys both Toms roosting, and hens with the babies. They should rename it to Turkey Hill as there are a lot of them here! Very beautiful scenery to soak up.

Take water with you - there is some shade, but not in a lot of places.. Hold your nose in the toilet. I like the trail and will be back in the winter when the hills are green again.

I went counterclockwise so the ascent was really that abrupt than the clockwise path. It was my first time but I'll do it again someday.

A fairly moderate trail-loop with some inclines that are manageable with regular comfortable walking shoes. It was a particularly warm day so the 6+ miles seems rather long. Overall, a nice trail, super easy to follow when you don't want to do too much planning or looking out for trail name sign posts!
