Parking across the salmon colored house is a good idea and just follow the bike trail for under 1/5 of a mile and you will find the trail to the falls. The waterfalls are a nice and peaceful sight.

I did this hike a few years ago, the first section was bunch of switch backs up a steep ravine, once you break free of that, the trail isn't so clearly marked, but you do end up pass into several large rock groups, you even should find a few rock mazes (human made) and then another decent into an lava flow across barely marked area to another climb to the end of the trail.

Great hike, waterfall, view of the river nearly the entire time. There's a small path off to the right, coming in, maybe a quarter or half of the way in, and it leads to a great view on some large rocks. You have to duck a little to walk through the path. Hope you find it.

The waterfall was so beautiful and peaceful! Definitely going to come back :)

The hike was beautiful. I brought my dog and there were tons of ticks on him. This is definitely an intermediate hike. The way back was a bit of a challenge since it’s mostly uphill but the views made it worth it.

Great place to getting some trail running in. Sort of narrow in some parts and people like to ride their horses in the area so be careful.

For weekend visits, you will need reservations ON LINE. Staff there were courteous, they turned me away and asked me to make a reservation outside. A mile away where I could park my car, but couldn’t get any cell phone signal to make online reservation. This is a stupid policy, I decided to go somewhere else. I saved myself $8.

love this trail

Went on a Saturday, and saw about a dozen other people throughout our hike. We got lost because a tree had fallen shortly after the difficult crossing (you'll know it when you get there), and it covered the path. We ended up on the mountain biking path for awhile, and then circled back towards the beginning. We had plenty of time, so we did the hike again to see where we'd gone wrong. After the tough crossing, make sure you stay to the left, along the side of the canyon.

It's a pretty easy trail otherwise. Not too much elevation gain, and some really lovely views. It wasn't cold at all when we went. The lady bugs were incredible. We brought our dog, and she had a blast.

This is a tough, very rocky trail with lots of vertical. Footing is tricky. Views are restricted to a few spots on the trail. Not recommended for kids! One highlight are the labyrinths along the trail. Table Rock is a bit of an anticlimax but does have a very nice view over Calistoga below. Overall a decent hike but not spectacular. There are other better choices in the area.

Great hike, lots of rocks and steep but great views

This was a short trail but very beautiful. I loved the waterfall. Very hard to find start or trail. Park o the street across from Salmon colored house. You’ll see a small trail sign, you need to walk a bit and then you will see the main trail sign and beginning of trail.

lots more shade than the other side of the river

Def intermediate. Did this hike in the beginning of Nov. Unfortunately, the cave was occupied with a mountain lion, who was coming towards us with a growl, as i approached inside with the flashlight. After getting to the bottom of the river, we hiked further up for about another 30min. There were no other hikers seen

Beautiful trails and waterfalls, great for a family hike. My kids spent a few hours splashing around in the river. What a fun day!

We only did the first 1.5 and it was very steep. Bring water for you and your pets! No views in that section of the trail.

Really nicely maintained trail with clear markers. Loved the Fall colors. Stunning view from Cougar Rock.

this was an easy well maintained trail. Enjoyed lunch while cooling off in one of the many fresh water holes

Ok trip..We parked on 49 and only hiked a mile before we ended at another parking area. Signs indicated we were at the point but could continue on to Auburn Rec Staging Area (another 1.3 miles). We opted to just turn around there. Minimal climbing on this hike. It was just ok. Wished it was longer. Per my calculations it doesn’t add up to the 5 miles I thought I read it was. Non the less it was an easy lazy Sunday afternoon stroll.

This has been my favorite hike so far. Beautiful scenery!

It's the beautiful place. Highly reccomend! Awesome place for family, horses riders, bicycles. There are a lot of trails there. So you can choose if it will be easy or not. There is waterfall what makes this place better. Reccomend

Easy, mostly wooded trail running along creek with great view of waterfall from nicely built overlooking deck at far end of loop.

Just did this hike today and was nice little hike. Only about 5 miles. Falls was beautiful. No people and free parking. Dirt road driving is rough so take proper vehicle.

Making it all the way out to Table Rock and back may be hard/difficult for those that aren't in athletic shape. My wife and I are weekend warriors when it comes to hiking and while we enjoyed our hike, we found that the trail was pretty rough from the Table Rock overlook marker (around the half way point) on to Table Rock. If you're looking for a great view spot with minimal effort needed, then the first outcropping of rocks just past the overlook marker would be a great hike for those that aren't in the mood to scramble down (and then later back up) washed out trails on often loose rock. Lots of ankle twisters and I wish I'd brought my trekking poles.

Overall still a great time, but it wasn't an easy hike for us. We saw families coming up the trail thinking that it was going to be a breeze for their young kids to make it all the way out and back too, and I can't help but to think it's due to a lot of the reviews on this site.

You only have a shorter section of rock scramble to go down if you're wanting to see the rock labyrinths, but it's still a bit of a hike for young ones.

I absolutely loved this trail....my friend who is not a hiker came with me, we made it to the top no issues. amazing views. started raining as we were on the top. As we hiked down the rocks were extremely slippery. I hit a rock just right and rolled my ankle. Continued to hike until I couldn't go any further. Had to call 911 and be rescued out. Tualome co fire dept is absolutely AMAZING. 4 firemen hiked me out. Turns out I fractured my fibula in two places, had to have surgery requiring a metal plate with screws in my ankle. Still recovering but you can bet I will be back!

It a pretty fun trail. I’m fairly new to hiking and am a pretty heavy gal so this was a great beginning trail for me. There were a few spots that were slightly challenging but overall it was a beautiful hike. I would recommend hiking down to the stream on the southwest side of the bridge and lookout point, there is a great spot to rest and chill by the creek.

Great hike! It has a variety of challenges, but nothing too strenuous. Views are tremendous all the way.

It is a difficult trail coming out but the rewards of the swimming holes at the bottom are worth it!
Just take a lot of water with you and I don’t recommend doing in high temps and much of the trail is uncovered.
