was an amazing hike with awesome views and short enough for a quick afternoon

Easy hike, good views

Nice short and easy climb that offers some great views. Short trail is definitely steeper and more difficult than the long option, but offers some great views on the way up. Short trail was mildly challenging with snow and ice cover; I would definitely recommend descending on the long trail of snow and ice cover.

Hiked this on 12/13, microspikes a complete necessity. Took the advice and did the blue up, yellow down. Much easier on the knees that way, blue was pretty steep and covered in ice/snow.

If you keep on the snow trampled trails you won’t need your snowshoes. However, if you have the option, I would bring them, there is a consistent 3-4 feet of snow.

Beautiful and quiet at the top.

One of my favorite hikes in the adirondacks. Surrounded by high peaks, this is a beautiful and quick hike. Take the long trail for a more gradual incline, although personally I don’t find it much less steep than the short trail. On 12/10 the trail is completely covered in snow and ice, I wore spikes and had a pretty easy time. I’ve done this trail in all seasons and will always recommend to people who want to see the beauty of the higher peaks without having to climb them.

Very quick and extremely easy winter hike with two children ! We went off the trail a little bit to make the hike more difficult and found some rocks for scrambling and tree branches to make the climb a little more challenging. Please make sure you are an experienced hike if you don’t choose to follow the trail ! There were many bobcat prints throughout the hike so be prepared to encounter some wild animals, especially in the winter! Also, good, water proof footwear with grips are a must! The trails are quite muddy and flooded in some areas

Awesome hike. The snow on the trail was packed which really helped out. I had zero issues following the trail. I was also lucky to have clear skies at the top and 360 views. If you want close parking to the trailhead, it still had spots available at 0800.

beautiful hike

Great hike through the forest. There’s a water fall toward the beginning. Followed the tan markers until we hit State land then we followed the neon ribbons. We got a little turned around on the way back down. Can get a little confusing. The view at the top was amazing. Definitely worth the hike. I would agree with it being a moderate difficulty level.

Has a nice waterfall and a great view at the top. Someone stacked rocks along the way as well, very cool. Not a lot of traffic either, so it was a peaceful and enjoyable day out.

2hr total hike for me and my 9 year-old husky mix. A bit muddy and slippery in spots, but not bad. There was a nice payoff at the top and only three cars in the parking lot at the trailhead.

A nice easy hike with some lovely views. The climb was not difficult and I enjoyed several small creeks on the walk.

A great hike that would’ve been a lot easier had it not been for the frequent mud jumping. The views from the tower were stunning and I even saw a guy hiking in sandals

Beautiful day for hiking. There are tan trail markers on the lower section and the state land is ribbons. Definitely need to pay attention to them as you can easily go off trail. Halfway there will be rock scrambling and with the fallen leaves it was slippery. Great hike, properly rated as moderate. 3.2 RT about 1100 feet of elevation.

Snowy, muddy and slippery today but still a great hike. Gradual climb with lots of bridges and stairs.

As other reviews state quite rocky and steep right from the get go. Ankle support and good tread this time of year is necessary. If you’ve hiked before it should be no problem. My husband had a hip replacement a yr ago and we made it up in an hour and 15.

A nice short hike to a beautiful open overlook of Eagle Bay, and surrounding mountains and lakes. A nice hike for the whole family.

Did goodnow today. Very nice hike. Fire tower was in good shape. Nice view :)

I loved this hike! Did on 10./18, already snow covered. We were the only ones at the summit. Did the shorter way up and longer way down. Absolutely amazing views of the snow capped high peaks.

Great hike! A lot of rock...I mean a lot. Would try to have a good pair of hiking boots, ankle support recommended, but it's up to you. Wind and cooler temps at the top, so I always bring an extra layer, (when hiking in the Fall, and early Spring). Don't let the elevation fool you. Good photo opportunities at the top. Good photo opportunities on the way up as well. Be safe and have a good hike! Don't forget to let someone know where you are!

short, with some what of a steep hike with an amazing view. would be nice for a picnic.

Did this Mtn trail a few months ago with my girlfriend. It was a nice relatively easy hike until the last section. Great views from the summit!!! Did this hike also with a friend in the winter and it was okay.

Beautiful hike to the top, light traffic

We took the short hike up which was quite steep and mostly jumping over the big rocks. Don’t recommend if it is icy or snowing, could be dangerous. View at the top was very nice.

A good 3-hour hike that leaves time to enjoy the day. Some pretty steep spots and good footwear is a must because there is a lot bare rock and wet leaves. The wind can really howl at the top too. Rewarding view - and a climb up the fire tower is an unexpected (and a little nerve-wracking) delight. Plan roughly 1:45 up, 20-30 minutes at the top, and 45 minutes down. Expect to see plenty of others enjoying the trail.

Hiked Hadley 10/19/18, great conditions, sunny day, slightly muddy so with the mud and leaves I suggest boots or shoes with good traction. Views were great, peak leaf season, a little past peak at the top. Good mix of pines and deciduous. Nice little hike that gets your blood pumping for sure. I’m in okay shape and it took me a little over an hour to reach the top. Fire tower was open. Views are spectacular. Enjoy!

Hiked on Oct 15th, 2018. It was raining but the trail wasn't too muddy or slippery. Some rocky sections. We went up the East Trail and down the North Trail. The Fire Tower is open but due to the clouds we didn't have a view. The ranger cabin is in bad shape. Overall a very nice hike which we will revisit so we can see the wonderful views.

This is a great short trail for such an awesome view! Definitely wear hiking shoes as there’s lots of mud and roots. The way down was actually harder than the way up, due to the steepness. Busy at the top due to fall foliage but everyone was so nice and taking pictures for each other.

I love trails like this. It's a rock scramble almost immediately. The boulders you're stepping on, over, and around act like a natural staircase.

The short trails is short and steep. Before long you're staring at Algonquin, Marcy, and a few other peaks, with Heart Lake shimmering directly below.

We took the short trail back down.
