Great view on top, easy to walk, not a lot of snow! I would recommand :)

Little slippery at the beginning of winter. well trafficked. Free gondola down in winter

Did the low Jewell Pass track to Barrier and then back up the jeep track over Yates. Great little hike - good distance. Moderate rather than hard. Keen to MTB it in the summer

Did this hike on November 12th

Fun hike! Trail was well marked. Did it Nov 13, 2018 (counter-clockwise) and didn’t need our Yak Trax. Went early in the morning and only saw a couple of bikers and one other hiker.

Well that was a hell of a hike. Beautiful day. My dog and I set out, microspikes and Ruffwear boots. Took a few breaks for food and water for my dog. So windy at the false summit and didn’t think I would even try to make it to the lookout tower but some awesome ladies with dogs who were experienced hikers ventured up there so we followed. Worth the views. Would have stayed up there longer but the windy was terribly cold so we trekked back down. Road up was very slippery so keep that in mind at this time of year. A lot harder than I expected. If you bring a dog make sure they have boots if you go to the top. Very sharp rocks.

Easy hike, lovely views in the canyon - get here early as the trail gets busy!

Loved this hike. I am out of shape so had to stop quite a few times but I plan to do it again. The view at the end was beyond worth it! We did have snow and ice after the first 30 mins so used our crampons for the rest!

Took the fam here last year, was awesome, busy but awesome.

My first hike and I love it. Easier than we thought :) It took us 1,5 hours to get to the top.

Nov 10 2018 - beautiful views of the mountains while hiking the ridge and a larger 270 degree view at the trail end.
You can hike the trail with good hiking boots, but snow cleats would make some spots easier. Can be windy at the top as its an open area.
No washrooms on site.
Minimal hikers for a Saturday afternoon.

Easy trail to a decent view point. If you go just a couple hundred meters up towards midnight peak the views are excellent.

me and my friends did this hike today ....very nice easy hike ...no slippery sections ....there was snow but easy to manage...beautiful views of Barrier lake and Mount Baldy .

This should really be rated as easy- if you can do it in jeans it’s not that difficult. Beautiful views of Banff at the top, great hike if you want to squeeze something quick and easy into your day. Wise to bring spikes in winter- there were a couple sections where they would have been appreciated.

Beautiful easy walk with a range of different views and landscapes.

We did it in mid october and the trail through the frozen lakes (mirror, agnes) was wonderful. very quiet at this period (just saw 5 people during the hike) si even better. breathtaking view of lake Louise.

Stunning day. False summit today. Too slippery to progress to the peak without cleats. Lots of slippery stuff under fresh snow.

I’ve hiked up to mountain summits, but I promise you nothing will take your breath away quite like walking through those trees to the lookout point. This is a great hike, it’s quick and challenging. Gaining elevation practically the whole way up. Hikes this nov 4, 2018 and the path is fairly clear. Only a small amount of snow closer to the top. Definitely do not need winter boots or crampons to do this one...yet.

Johnston Canyon was awesome—is great if you love water. The river through the canyon was beautiful. Easy hike on paved trail. The trail to ink pots was a bit more difficult, but not too intense. We rented crampons and made heavy use of them (lots of steep icy inclines). The ink pots are nestled in a valley next to the upper river. While not as bright blue as we expected due to the cloud cover, they were still amazing. The surrounding mountain views are awesome too—we sat for a while and had a snack before making the trek back.

Great hike, short (relatively) but uphill all the way. There had been some fresh snow when we were there, so it wasn’t too slick, but I imagine you would want crampons on a typical winter day, especially if you’re making the push past Mirror Lake to the tea house. Lake Agnes was covered and it was super windy up there, so we didn’t stay long before heading back down. Awesome views of the beehives, the valley, and Lake Louise from spots on the trail!

This was a great hike! Mostly uphill with a flat spot in the middle, pretty difficult I would say for inexperienced folks like us. My wife and I did Lake Agnes on Friday and Ink Pots via Johnston Canyon on Saturday, then ended with this on Sunday. Even with all the hiking we had already done, we went out and back in about 4.5 hours, but we didn’t make it all the way to the second lake (it was pretty snowy and that last push up the hill was a bit much for our inexperienced and tired legs). Wonderful views of the backside of Castle Mountain, and lots of snow-covered valley.

Thanks for the recommendation, G&J!

Really great views once you get past the treeline. We did this hike end of July and it took us 6 hrs with a 30-40 min lunch stop at the top. Beware of the false summit. The first half hour is flat and the trail is well marked. It’s pretty steep all the way up with little breaks to recover. Would rate this hike on the harder side because it is long!

This is so far my Favourite hike! Done it twice now and both times were just as amazing. Tiring trail for the young Lab but she conquered it with us carrying all her own food and water. So many different terrains, quiet trail and fantastic views throughout the entire hike! Will do it again and again.

nice hike.

Steady incline to the tea house (closed). Lots of packed down snow so made it slippery in spots due to the incline. Some beautiful scenery along the way looking down on Lake Louise from the trail.

We loved this hike! Did today, brought our pup and it was perfect. Windy walking around the lake to get to the trail but besides that awesome! Gets steep by the look out point. Beautiful views would do again :)

Lots of snow up there yesterday. Micro-spikes/crampons were absolutely needed. Few people on the trail because of the snow.
Snow makes this more difficult to get up to the top. Both Mirror Lake and Lake Angus covered with snow.
I would like to do this again in the spring/summer.

Lake Agnes views are SPECTACULAR. Easy and heavily trafficked gravel trail with some wooden stairs. Bring cash for the tea house.
