Beautiful fall walk along side the Truckee River!

We started late not really planning on a hike but could not resist and the weather was great. We took our border collie who loved it. The high point of the hike was seeing a bald eagle! We will be back to complete the loop.

Nicely maintained but very rocky. Not difficult. Beautiful surroundings and vistas.

Love the history of the mansion. Be sure to read the info plates. Amazing views.

Great hike but more like 5.7 miles from parking area. Even longer if you decide to take the detour out and back to Donner Peak from main trail up to Mt. Judah. Beautiful views.

Easy trail. The water is crystal clear, and the scenery is beautiful.

Is a great place I like.to walk there

Started at thomas creek and did the 7 mile loop to white creek trail. Thomas Creek is good for all ages. There were hikers, walkers, bikers and dogs. Up to Dry Pond has switchbacks to help with elevation gain. Colors and creeks were gorgeous.

Love this hike! Even if you only a mild in and back out you’ll love it! Today we went to the top.

Very enjoyable, not too difficult. In the early morning there were a few people, but coming back down it got crowded. The Fall colors were glowing and the sound of the creek, even this late in the season, was so peaceful. Loved it.

Great paved trail for a long walk. Semi steep in the beginning. Great for walking dogs on leash

One of the best hikes I’ve ever been on in Tahoe! Amazing views all the way up, in late October the most BEAUTIFUL fall colors. Definitely constant incline that will get your heart rate up but nothing unreasonable! Loved every second of it and the views at the vista at the top are stunning! Great dog trail too. I went on a Thursday and it was moderately busy near the bottom - I imagine it’s insane on weekends!

Nice views. Get to walk on some of the ski runs and good views of Sugar Bowl ski area.

You won’t regret it. Peaceful and beautiful.

We are new to hiking and in our 50’s-60, so this is for newbies like us. Loved the views and weather was perfect in October. We actually walked the path counter-clockwise, not knowing how this app really works, and just realized, late, that the path direction is on the app. Heading down the peek of Mt. Judah Trail back to Pacific Crest was slippery and steep, the trail was hard to recognize. Now that I see we should have ascended that way, it makes some sense. We’re learning and love adventure.

The first 2 miles could be challenging for people who have knees problems because the trail was steep and could be slippery. We hike relatively slow with our dogs and it took us about 3.5 hours round trip.

Great hike!

Very crowded and when I hike I like to get away from people. I’ve lived in Truckee since ‘91 and have never done this trail as I had heard it was too busy. Rocky parts and uphill but not a difficult hike. Beautiful views! 2 hours and 12 minutes to do entire loop.

A tough but beautiful hike. Many of trees and ferns were in full fall splendor and the views of Lake Tahoe were spectacular. The cool fall temperatures made for perfect hiking weather as the climb is steep and at times a bit grueling. The wind came up just as I reached the lake, which is peaceful and also showing hints of fall. A few pointers - when leaving the lake, keep to the left (or better yet track your journey with the app), getting off course is easy. Also, there are mountain bikes on the trail, so be alert.

Mostly in the trees, striking view of the lake from the top. You can continue on to Martin peak if you want.

*There are some lengthy steep and rocky parts of the trail
*Great workout
*No water sources so bring plenty of water for dogs
*A lot of exposed/unshaded areas of the trail
*Took about 3.5 hours to complete the entire loop with several breaks
*Well signed trail; hard to get lost
*Nice views (lake, summit, trees, etc.)

Looking for an easy river walk? This is a pleasant one. Walking with dogs, look for your first opportunity to get off the blacktop and follow the path close to the river which starts about ~100 yards east of the foot bridge.

It was a pretty easy trail to take and the views at the bottom on the lake are amazing. I went on a Friday and I only came across 5 people the whole time

Loved that there was a beautiful view at every turn. Windy and cold as we got higher! Winter is on the way. We caught a beautiful sunset at the Samuel Clemens bench - maybe two miles up? Wide, well-maintained trail.

Great! Especially hitting it just right for wildflowers! Views are magnificent. Good workout.

This was a gorgeous hike in October with the trees changing colors. I would agree with the “moderate” rating Tunnel Creek Trail received as the entire path is uphill but the incline isn’t too severe. Our dog had an awesome time on this hike and I believe the graded trail had something to do with it. However, there is little shade and no water sources for dogs so bring plenty of water. We started hiking a little before 10 so it was pretty quiet on our way up. Traffic increased as we were coming down the trail around noon. There is a $2.00 per person charge to use the trail but it’s worth it because the trail is very well maintained. With an endless supply of stunning views and a solid cardio workout, you can’t go wrong hiking Tunnel Creek Trail.

This was a lovely dirt trail down to a cute little secluded beach. We only made it down to the chimney beach and back as we had a 5 year old and 3 year old on foot and a 1 year old in a carrier. Would recommend this short portion as family and kid friendly.
