Well blazed, well maintained trail. The first part of the trail is sunnier, so dress/drink accordingly. Campsites were well marked and maintained. There were a few ticks but nothing that can't be handled with a combination of appropriate clothing and bug spray. Not much water available as creeks were fairly dry, but it is a short enough trail that you can pack enough water.

We took the trail to the lookout and then hiked back. It was about one mile. The trail has many interesting rock formations and the lookout area cliff like features is very cool. There are plenty of shade but it still is very hot and humid in the summer. Bring plenty of water.

Always a good quick hike for a nice overlook. Fairly easy and not too far away.

Amazing hike, well marked, and the view from the top was breath taking...

Good trail, well marked. For the most part I would consider this trail easy but there are a couple spots where you have to climb. No ticks found on me (I used spray) but there were some horse flies that needed to be swatted. It took me about 3.5 hours to complete (I'm pretty out of shape, so take that for what it's worth).

1. Bring more water than you expect to drink just as a caution. Today was very hot and humid (heat index 100F about per the news) and I started in the morning. 2. A few down trees and some stretches where, in my opinion, the trails were either not marked or a bit overgrown and making a decision on where to go wasn't clear. 3. Pay attention to the incline and grade percentages, I'd say they were accurate. Pace yourself, keep some snacks of your choice with you, it gave me a much needed boost of energy. 4. I saw one man on the trail as well maybe 90 minutes into my hike, then a couple at the last five minutes. I'd suggest going in the morning, my own two cents. Also as others have said there is not a lot of parking so if you get here early you'll have a space! 5. Google maps was correct in getting here ... Don't take Hollow road, it is pure gravel and for me in a sedan it didn't save time at all. (assuming you're coming from the south). If your vehicle is equipped for such go for it. 6. I always wear pants and long sleeves when hiking, and, I reapply DEET 25% repellent to me, my clothes, my backpack. No ticks found on me at all. enjoy!

Great trail to get out and explore the Ozarks, backpacked into The trail and then hiked out into the other trails leading all the way to the castle. Great state park - will go back when ticks aren’t as frequent - if backpacking, call ahead to register - it’s free and everyone is super nice!

Great for a night hike :]

This was a very pretty trail overall. Varied from dense forest to open meadows with abundant colorful wildflowers, lots of butterflies, dragonflies and verdant rolling hills. There were several areas with interesting rocky formations along the way. The creek beds were mostly dry but we did find a small area with some running water. Heard a frog calling but never found it. The trail was rocky and had lots of ups and downs which kept it interesting and allowed a good workout. We saw only a handful of other hikers so it was really peaceful. Check yourself for ticks throughout. We collected several along the way .

The view from yellow rock was amazing. Better than the lookout the trail will guide you too, so don’t forget to stop!!

It was a pretty good trail! It's not my favorite of the Ha Ha Tonka trails, but it was significantly less trafficked, which I enjoyed. It had some pretty scenery and was an easy trail.

Nice relaxing hike, some along a ridge but mostly in the woods. The ridge is the highlight but I also found the shed at the overlook interesting and a great place to stop for a while.

Excellent, well-marked trail with impressive rock formations, a great overlook, and some very nice waterfalls.

The first half of this trail is nice, with rock features, etc., and of course the overlook is awesome. However the second half is uninspiring. If you want to put in the miles, hike the entire look, but otherwise make the trip out and back to the overlook.

This is a great trail for beginners and experienced hikers. I believe if you just want to go to the point you can by only hiking an easy 1.1 mile out and back as well. Great hike, and don’t forget to donate!

This was an interesting trail! Not the best I’ve been on, but being in town this was the longest loop in Ha Ha Tonka so I decided to try it out. A little rockier than your typical MO trail. We passed two small groups but other than that, totally secluded which was very nice! If you have reactions to plants suck as poison ivy or oak, wear long pants as there are a few sections where you are brushed up against plants on both sides due to a narrow trail. Drive up to the castle on your way out

This trail was a lot of fun to trek through. Very pretty greenery and the trail was the perfect level of difficulty. The overlook at the upper trailhead was not as scenic, pretty or wide as we were hoping, and we were slightly disappointed that we had come that far for so little. But when we got to the yellow rock overlook, we were extremely satisfied! It was absolutely beautiful. I wish rappelling was allowed because those rock faces would be fun to go up and down on!

Gorgeous views from Yellow Rock. Diverse hike with many rocks to walk on, under, around.

Lovely trail, and not too busy in the early morning. By noon, the trail had started to pick up. Trail is clean and clearly marked.
