I thought it was really pretty! The lookout point that overlooks the river is well worth it. It’s a fairly easy trail. Narrow, but not too much of an incline. Mostly throw the woods, but there is a pretty field and overlook of the river. Boaters seem to be really friendly. They’ll wave as the boat by.

I love this hike! I go all the way around! You can hike the creek bed. Along the waterfall.
It is busy at times. But, overall it is a great place to hike.

The trail was well marked with easy access to the trailhead. There are plenty of trail maps but no bathrooms. The trail is very rocky and narrow making the rating of “moderate” accurate. My two children got excited for a bench at about two miles. They sat down only to realize a minute later that they were COVERED in termites! My five year old was in pure horror! We tried to finish the loop with the shortcut but after a quarter of a mile farther, we decided it was best to turn around. After returning back to the car and fully stripping their clothes, we also found three ticks on my husband and daughter. Heads up that this is not a young kid friendly hike. I wish we would’ve have gotten a chance to see the entire trail and what it has to offer. I gave it three stars because I’m sure it’s a good trial for others, but I wish I’d known it wasn’t for my family. Oh well, you live and you learn.

Best loop is Mill Creek to College.

Paved trail with much of it in shade. I really enjoyed the Dewey Short Visitor Center by the dam. I parked at Showboat Branson Belle parking lot and walked toward the dam. .8 miles then back. I also went the other direction toward another state park area which is also .8 miles. This trail is in sections with many benches to sit and enjoy the view. I use the restrooms at showboat park area but there are outhouse type restrooms at each of the Missouri state park areas. I love this trail and will do the entire beautiful walk He next time I am in town.

We parked at the Smoke and Davey Trailhead and took the Neale Trail. So great. Somewhat challenging, very cobwebby at 8 am but found a good stick to help with that. Very well maintained and pretty views everywhere. When the trail crossed the cement path that ran down the center of the trail system we occasionally saw another person but aside from that no other people once we were in the woods. Great views of the lake.

Love this trail. Easy to walk fast. But beware...full of chiggers this week!!!! apply DEET!!

Very well marked and maintained trail. Will definitely hike again. A few areas had very fresh tree falls on the trail but nothing overly large or blocking to much of the trail. Was some trash at a campsite but I packed it out.

returned and did the trail with the boy scouts. One of the few natural tunnels in the state.

Beautiful trail for MO that goes through a variety of different communities of flora. Long socks recommended, as it does get overgrown and ticks are present.

This trail is beautiful. I am visiting from Utah where I am used to all trails going up big mountains. It was nice to have a trail that got my heart rate up but wasn’t a major workout at the same time. The trail is so well-marked it would be hard to get lost. I hope I can come back to this one next time I visit the area.

Not a bad trail. Good walk. Very limited view of the lake, so not that exciting.

Nice view of the lake. Easy trail with some rough terrain.

Nice trail! We took our small dog and had no troubles. the trails are marked well at the creek crossings. as I go along the trail you will creeks, a small water fall (that is a perfect place to take break.), and the trail goes along the bluffs at one point.

Nice well maintained trail. Intertwined with disc golf 18 hole course

Beautiful trail, but we walked through a patch of seed ticks. Worth checking out if you’re in the Ozarks

This trail is amazing, and I can’t believe that we haven’t been here before! It has history, varied terrain, a beautiful creek all along it, rock formations, a fantastic waterfall; we LOVED IT. Definitely will be back!

This trail is GREAT for a long run at almost anytime of the day because it has good tree cover throughout the trail. Also the pavement is well kept which means there is no need to worry about footing on a run.

decent hike. sadly someone has vandalized some of the trees with demonic & swastika signs.

Easy trail with pretty sights. Only warning is WEAR BUG SPRAY. Especially around ankles and such as we were infested with tiny seed ticks after it. Had to pick off ourselves as well as spray our vehicle down. (Or “bomb” it).
UPDATE
We had to be put on antibiotics because of issues with tick diseases.

Pretty easy hike. Unfortunately all of the streams and river were dried up so it made for dull sights. Trail was easy to follow and well marked. We were covered in a bunch of tiny ticks by the end of the trail even though we wore tick repellent. Probably a better hike to do in the spring when water is flowing and there aren’t as many ticks.

we really enjoyed this hike. we went on July 23. it's very pretty, lots of creeksnand streams both big and small. there is a pretty waterfall about halfway through. you do have to cross water multiple times, there is rocks at all the crossing to walk on but there's a good possibility of getting your feet wet. at the waterfall half way through there Is a trail following the creeks that you can take to get closer to it. can be a little steep but the terrain isn't bad. we had a fun time on this hike.

Beautiful country but not a very long trail. Nice moderate walk.

I walked <2 miles on the Moon Loop and got 11 ticks on my clothes. Trailhead off the Ginn Lane was a bit hidden. On the bright side, the sunrise and scenery were beautiful!

We just hiked this trail two days ago and really enjoyed the cliff caves, rocky creek beds and tunnel at the end. We took the East trail and it took about 4 hours there and back. However, we all returned with horrible, itching rashes on our ankles despite wearing long pants, heavy socks and bug repellant. I think seed ticks may be the culprit after doing some research as we all had tiny black specs freckling our feet and ankles after hiking. I don't know how to protect oneself from seed ticks but I would certainly look into it before hiking this trail again.

I would bump this trail up to a moderate rating. Lots of elevation changes. Had some trees downed on the trail but that made it a bit more fun if you ask me. Went mid July and the deer ticks were out in full force. The cedar forest in the third quarter of the trail was very peaceful.

Seniors - I'm nearly 71, 30 lbs overweight, and not in super condition. I walked this trail in about 30 minutes. I would rate this trail as Easy+ for seniors. The first half of the trail is mostly ascending with a few short, but steep, inclines. Also some steps and boulder/rock dodging in the trail. The sloping down areas have a loose surface, so shoes with good gripping soles are best. It's a pretty walk and has interesting rock formations along the way. Not a boring little walk at all! I wanted to walk about an hour, so walked across the parking lot and did 15 min in and 15 back to get my hour in.

Short but ok hike

Some great technical areas for all difficulty levels. Awesome place close to town to get out and enjoy some nature!
