Michigan & Wisconsin Map

Best in Kenosha County and rarely busy. Plenty of Geocaches and stunning in the fall. Bring your bug spray in the summer!

We only had a couple of hours to spend around Windigo, so this seemed like a decent option.

In mid August you'll find an abundance of thimbleberries, along with a couple of other non-edible berries in season, so be sure to educate yourself before you do any berry picking.

Well-kept trail with a nice mix of scenery. No moose sightings for us, but I'd imagine that the overlook at Grace Creek wouldn't be a bad place to look for some.

Manitou Falls was beautiful, however we could not walk the trail according to park staff due to washouts from high water. Only reason I have 3 stars is we went down to the lower falls and were able to hike around a bit. With a 4, 6, 8 year old we couldn’t stray from the path too much but it wasn’t even a mile worth of walking. Still a pretty area with the falls.

Beautiful Love all the flowers & Butterflies

A wonderful trail with one huge 90 degree sand dune well that how it felt anyway!

A wonderful workout with one giant sand dune with an 90 degree angle or at least it feels that way.

Beautiful views of Lake Michigan on trail along water-trails were well marked except #1 and 3 at parking lot going into Dunes-lots of criss cross trails so confusing Saw deer and heron on river thru woods. Will be back!

Quiet and hilly grass loop trails that regularly intersect. I’m directionally challenged so needed to refer to the app regularly to stay on course. I went right after it rained and the mosquitoes were rampant.

Great hike, be prepared for your shoes to get a little sand in them. Beautiful views of the lake and good for kids and dogs. Hiked it with our best friends who got engaged during the hike.

Spectacular views! Love hiking here!

I love this place. Dunes as far as you can see high above the water and trees. Lots of good hiking.

Somewhat hard to follow the trail since there are so many forks, but I think all of the trails end up at the same place. It was beautiful! Definitely will go again

perfect for a spring hike.

A dandy mix of terrain, scenic views and a multitude of distance/difficulty options. This is as good as it gets for SW Michigan.

Pretty winter trail with some snow. No bugs in December. No wildlife at least today.

Spent an hour here today climbing the dunes with my dog. Definitely my favorite local hike. The route can be challenging and the views are spectacular.

A hike through woodlands, dunes, and beach environments makes this trail diverse and visually entertaining throughout.

Beautiful Fall colors. Quiet and lightly traveled. A few trail choices to provide some variety. Well worth a trip North.

Gorgeous waterfall

Short and sweet with a rewarding view at the end.

nice trail but the mosquitoes ruin it

This is a very woodsy and shaded hiking area. It's a very interesting mix of beach dunes, green forest, and part of the early path through the forest is sandy, not dirt. The hiking itself is nice and lush, and the climb to the top of the dunes is fairly challenging (at least coming from the east) but worth it for the views. The views are really something! If you aren't in shape, the climb will be pretty tough, your legs will definitely get a workout.

We went on the Friday before Labor Day weekend and there were people on the beach but it wasn't crowded, and during the forest hike (between points 3 and 4) we didn't encounter another soul. We also didn't see any trash, so I am grateful for the attentive staff and the admission charge to get in. We'd been to Al Sabo preserve earlier in the day, and there was dog poo and trash in some areas there.

Nearly flat trail that explores the marsh lands along the Detroit River where it empties into Lake Erie. Northern loop features some nice wooden marsh overlooks. South loop features some long boardwalks and excellent lake/river views. Good wildlife and bird viewing; I saw deer, rabbits, lots of ducks, an egret, red-winged blackbirds, and plenty of more common birds. Much of the trail is exposed to the sun, so wear a hat in the summer. Come in late July or early August to see the beautiful lotus colony in bloom. Overall, maybe the best hike in Detroit's metroparks.

Great scenery. Lots of wildlife. However, there are also lots of mosquitoes (during summer). Bug spray didn't quite do me justice today. Still a beautiful and short hike!

LOVE this trail! most of it is beside the river. beautiful & peaceful

It was very pretty but on a hot day it is a challenging hike. This is on the difficult side of "moderate." Bring lots of water and extra sunscreen and bug spray in case you take longer than you planned.

Very nice walk and a study in contrasts. Hot and sunny with a challenging sandy surface on the beach and foredunes, but lovely shaded packed sand in the valley behind the dunes.

TERRIBLE! Trail is not visibly marked! Trail should not be "easy" while the terrain maybe a bit easy it was incredibly difficult to find and stay on the trail without a constant map. The first half of Trail was nice but last half - NO THANKS!

nice hiking trail in the woods. liked that it is primarily for hiking. as others said mosquitoes are brutal in the summer.
