This is a wonderful place for a day hike (or longer if you want... camping is available). Today was an absolutely beautiful day. Peaceful, birds chirping, river flowing, frogs singing, breeze blowing. I saw someone chilling in a hammock with a book (brilliant). It is $6 for a day pass to get into the park. Worth it if you ask me. :) The trails are very well marked and trail maps available at several locations.

Not sure how this trail isn't ranked higher. Perfect hiking trip with a scenic payoff.

Really pretty views. We were there in late March and didn’t know what to expect. Ended up catching a sunny say and ended up pleasantly surprised by a fantastic view of a wintey/spring-mixed Lake Michigan!

Great picnicking area!

This hike is all about Elevation but when you get to the top it will be well worth it. Great Views of Big Glen Lake and Lake Michigan.

One of the best views you'll see of Lake Michigan. The Dune puts you 260 feet almost straight above the lapping waters of Lake Michigan. The lookout point is about 0.6 miles from the trailhead. The .6 mile hike will be tough to some since it's a pretty good incline. However, the trail does offer wooden steps which makes it easier and there's no need to rush. relax and enjoy the quit and peaceful nature and when you get to the top, you'll be thankful that you made the hike. Check out the video I shot, video was shot on my GoPro Hero 4 sessions. https://youtu.be/gtxLWxdoV3k

Nice trail. Peaceful loop starting along the Chippewa River. One fairly strenuous hill.

This was quick and pretty cool.

Fun hike with the kids. More than manageable outside of them wanting to continually go up and down the narrow steep dune hike to a beautiful overlook!

crowded but lovely

Fun trail to run.

I ride this trail at least 3 times a week, there is additional 7 miles added to this trail. This trail goes to the Bay City Recreational Area and Tobico Marsh.

I've been hiking this trail for almost twenty years and still love it

We very much enjoyed this hike, especially north of the Boardman. We parked south. But we hadn't realized the new Grasshopper boardwalk would take us to a different (north) trail and finally we worried how to get back to our car on the south side of the river. This map was helpful.

Wonderful drive--must-do if you're in the area. Great scenic look-outs. Get the paper with all the waypoints listed from park ranger at the beginning. Also do the trail that leads to the sandy steep overlook.

Nice paved bike trail between Saginaw and St Charles. Only did this trail a couple times on my bike, but wasn't too busy and it was a great workout! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Some of the best trails in northern Michigan—beautiful and very well maintained. Great for casual hikes and trail-running alike. The recently-constructed Grasshopper Bridge essentially doubles the size of the walkable park!

Great views, creek side good for dogs to cool off, very quiet

Great maps , love the views of the now un-dam'd river.

relatively straight. some crossings with traffic. light traffic on the trail. lots of bugs. bug spray is advised.

I would've rated this above Empire Bluff Trail, but it is more of a challenging hike! The hike to the lookout is where you gain a good chunk of your elevation. Gorgeous, gorgeous views & more secluded areas when its a highly trafficked day.

Well maintained trail, with even mulch along the way. First island look out is beautiful and looks like a tropical paradise. Continue to overlook big glen because that water color is out of control beautiful. It has a bit of an incline but nothing too strenuous. Go to get a good idea of your surroundings. Trail is very dog friendly.

Great views of Big Glen and Lake Michigan. Definitely dog friendly

This trail is very well maintained but it would be a lot more practical with a road bike
