Great
Note: the entrance to High Tor State Park is typically closed, especially since the pool is not open. Therefore, you cannot park in the parking lot and access this trail through the park. If you wish to explore this trail: continue driving North on South Mountain Road, turn right at the blinking yellow light onto Little Tor Road and continue up the mountain until you see cars/roadside parking, located on the right hand side. If you enter the long trial path trail (marked green) on the right hand side of the road, you will eventually meet up with this trail; at which point you can either head down towards High Tor State Park or up towards a nice lookout of Haverstraw. Walking down towards High Tor State Park is super overgrown, very lightly trafficked, and completely unmarked. Walking up towards the lookout there is a steady uphill climb to the top with two nice views!
Hike to liquor store NYC overlook halfway point.
Trail was closed today. We went further down the road to a different one.
Gate was locked today. 2/29/2020 so we’ll try again after 3/1
Nice trail for an afternoon hike/walk. Pretty views of the Hudson and a little higher, of NYC. Muddy in parts but nothing too bad.
High Tor State. Park closed today——so no way to access the trail
My 5 year old and my dog came with me for this one. A steady climb up, but easy. And such great reward for such little work! The views are incredible, even by Rockland County standards. Hard to find the entry to the trail from High Tor State Park parking lot, but it’s there! (In a far corner.) Also, the trail that leads to the long path isn’t actually marked with blazes, but so easy to follow regardless.
one foot infront on the other keep a steady pace, great views when you reach the top elevation. moderate begining that levels off for a relaxing stroll.
Drove all the way there from Brooklyn and park was closed today Feb 3 2018.
We Started at the trail behind parking lot steep incline to the top of long path and then a short distance to the top of the mountain. Great views. Moderate difficulty level for those not used to hiking, but once you reach the long path it becomes easy level hiking.
Very nice and clean trail. Lots to see at both mountain tops!
A nice steady incline up to some awesome vantage points . It was very slick outside in late December when I did this hike so certain points were a little tough . Still managed to make it up without any of my hiking gear. Great place to take first time hikers, one trail that will take you all the way to high tor and back to the parking lot . personally I thought little tor was the nicer of the two .
