A 1.5 mile hike if you park at the headquarters so it's nice with kids. It's supposed to be okay for dogs, however it's steep and rocky, so only for athletic dogs with tough paws.

Delightful display of bluebells and trout lilies beside a pretty stream in mid-April.

Wear rubber soled footwear and corduroy because lots of mud and briars. Please clarify to privacy status of the top loop.

nice workout but well worth it when u reach the summit! nice history lesson as well

fun hike that is not too crowded, has some rock scrambling if you want along wolf rock and amazing views of the town below

Great hike with a very rewarding view. Allocate 2-3 hours if you plan on spending time at the overlook. A little muddy in the spring, so wear good boots.

Took the challenge trail, and stopped at several points along the way up to catch my breath, but the view at Flat Rock is spectacular and well worth the effort! Took my dog with me, he's nearly 4 mos and he loved it too! Highly recommended by people and pets :)

A challenging but amazing trail. I haven't been here in a few years and they have updated it to include a choice in difficulty as you head up the mountain. Views are phenomenal.

Part hiking part rock climbing. Views were beautiful and we saw some hawks. The skyline trail is the most difficult and please pay attention...it’s not for beginners. Bolder climbing for quite some distance. We modified route to make it more like 10 miles round trip.

Difficult hike in the beginning, had to rest a few times up the initial steep incline. The vista at the top was beautiful. We had lunch at the top and enjoyed the view before continuing on to Tuscarora trail, then Lehman trail, Warner trail to Cider path and then walking down the road past the lake to get to the parking lot. I highly recommended this trail!

Great workout, beautiful views, and interesting history behind this hike.

very difficult but absolutely worth it. We took the long way and hiked about 6 miles. lots of rock scrambling! would recommend to experienced hikers.

I parked at the park headquarters, and instead of doing the whole loop (that would take you along the road for a while) I went to chimney rock then wolf rock and then turned around back to the car. The rocks are so fun to climb on and the views are awesome! Wouldn't rate it as challenging, lots of kids and dogs on this trail.

This is a really beautiful hike. I'll admit the steps are a bit strenuous but the views make it all worth it! Just go slow and steady and you'll be glad you did this hike. I did this hike with a friend and then again with a women's hiking group. If you're a female and interested in hiking with other females Join our FB page and be included in monthly meetups in PA.

Fun, challenging loop that is worth it for the view. Was busy the day we went with people and dogs. Trail is very rocky in places and steep at times. You can park at the Visitor's Center or the park administration building; both are on this loop. The dog loved it!

I took advantage of a beautiful February day by checking out Thousand Steps. I honestly found it not too terrible on the way up. I stopped several times for a minute to catch my breath, but made it to the top in a little less than an hour. Saw the beautiful vistas and remnants of an old building. What I didn’t expect was how challenging the descent would be. My legs wobbled the whole way down. My muscles were spent. I would definitely recommend 1 or 2 hiking poles for the way down, it kept me from going too fast and eating rock. Definitely a nice trail and I really appreciated the historical context. Also, the markings every 100 steps were super helpful. I would consider it more moderate than hard.

Great elevation gain. have to really pay attention to white blazes.

A challenging hike, however, well worth every step! The beautiful views from every ‘platform’ are breathtaking. Along the way, catch up on the true history of 1,000 Steps!

Beautiful views when you get to the top of the 1,000 steps. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

Nice and secluded!

One of the best vistas I have seen in PA. Deffinitly a hike to check out. Nice and vigorous up hill as well.

Omg! I’ve let myself go the last couple years so when a friend invited me along, I thought I was going to die! There were many places to step aside or sit for a little break. Once at the top, the views were amazing and it was worth the achy muscles to get there.

Strenuous ascent...all of which is on rock. Footwear choice is very important. The payoff is wonderful views above the talus slope. Well worth the effort.

Loved this hike! It was bitterly cold but the views were worth it.

Good workout, with a beautiful view. Would go again!

Hard uphill but amazing view at the end makes up for it

Great workout, beautiful views throughout the hike. Heavily used on what was a beautiful day in December. Kids (9 and 5) had a blast as well.

This is a challenging trail with a vertical rock wall and several near vertical climbs. If that's in your skill set, it is worth it to do this loop.

Challenging hike, especially with rocky trail covered with leaves. Especially beautiful view from Chimney Rock. View from Wolf Rock is not as impressive after the leaves have fallen, but probably more spectacular in early fall or spring.

Great hike. Nine of us completed it as Charisse described 14 days ago. Had great views and it was a nice workout jumping from stone to stone and climbing steep walls on the Skyline trial. Trickiest was the River of Rocks trail since leaves covered loose stones making the descend slippery.
