Great hike. We are beginners and couldn’t make it all the way to the top...elevation was the challenge for us. Great views and we will be back to try again when cooler!

Got to the trailhead at 6, reached the cave by around 7:40 with a couple breaks. We started from the second/further lot. Views were AMAZING at sunrise. Worth it to get there early because you are shaded almost the whole time coming up! Can be slipper coming down, steeper than expected. Cave is super cool. Trail is decently marked.

Great Morning Birthday Hike on 9-7-2018 with my friend Enas! One of my favorites! Helped out a fellow female hiker with a bottle of water and some snacks. Safety First Peeps!!!

Really peaceful and safe!
I did the full hike and wouldn’t call it “moderate”...I’m used to hiking and this trail kicked my butt. I also had quite a few slips (and one big fall) on the crumbling rock and saw other hikers struggling to keep their footing too. I can’t imagine kiddos being able to do it, but maybe if you take your time ;)
Overall, a good, challenging hike—but a little dangerous when it gets steep.

Not very well maintained trail. Wouldn’t take kids on this hike because of the heat.

Good hike pleasant view at the finish. Not unusual to see a snake.

We walked the loop with a break at the seats. It was 4.3 miles and definitely moderate. We enjoyed ourselves and saw people from toddler to elderly on the trail. Though would be nice if slower moving people would slide over so you can keep your pace but not a biggie.

No dogs are allowed (Pooh!) which is why I gave it a 3, but even without my sweet dog, it was nice. I believe there are only 2 trails on the south end of the lake that do allow dogs. With the popularity of this spot I can understand why no dogs but this area in general is just not dog friendly.

I understand how gorgeous the cave and view are, but this is not a moderate hike unless I took a different trail! This is a very difficult hike on trails that are not marked and blend in easily with the desert...along with numerous areas of veer offs leaving you wondering which way to go! I had two guys show me how to use GPS on this site after I turned around in frustration. So, stupidly, I tried it again. I finally got to the Cave which is a beautiful wonder of nature, but it isn't worth almost dying over when you get lost coming down even using GPS! I was happy to have made it out alive! Please, be careful...this is not easy and not marked...you have to guess many times which way to go and tear through thorny bushes and cacti to get back on track. It is too easy to get lost! I unfortunately will not be putting myself in that situation again on Superstition. I will go hike a trail that is thoroughly marked and maintained! Sorry if this disappoints fans of the trail, but I want everyone to know what they are getting into!

Fun and easy hike. Well-marked. Great view. Lots of parking.

Easy hike to the overlook. Be mindful of people climbing below you. There are about 10 routes the climbing is easy but people throw rocks over the edge all the time.

Awesome hike! Would highly recommend it. The last little bit of hike before the wave is a bit challenging but well worth it.

Initially the trail had a gradual climb. after you half the distance of the hike, it's a moderate to steep climb when nearing the cave.
Remember to bring lots of water. It's an amazing hike. The view from the cave is beautiful.

Easy to moderate trail. Girlfriend and I had no issues getting up or down. Virtually no shade until you get close to the mountain. Trail is well maintained and path easily identified. Up and down in a little less than two hours.

I really liked this hike. Not strenuous yet still got a good workout in. The views of all the different species of cacti were awesome. Went around 730ish and the mountain kept the sun behind it so it was shaded and breezy the entire way up! Very nice to have cool air hitting you on a trail especially in AZ! Trail is pretty well marked and is fun to follow. Kicked a stray cactus into my leg so be careful of anything laying on the ground ha!

Felt longer than it was, a little challenging but definitely doable for even my 3 year old who is a champ! Bringing enough water is key, really for all hikes but this one for sure. View from the top made it all worth it and looking back at the accomplishment once we were back down is uplifting :)

This is a fun trail. Make sure you go through the fence. This trail is a good work out. I went on a Tuesday around 6:00 am. I saw two other people on the trail. No matter where you are the views are beautiful and amazing!

This is a great challenge. I do this hike every year in January or February.

Love, love, love this trail. It's a must-do, essential for any passionate hiker in the Phoenix vicinity. ...or any surfers. :) Everyone needs a pic of themselves "riding the wave" at some point to use as desktop wallpaper.
The hike itself is fairly easy, though the last part up to the cave is the most challenging, hence the "moderate" rating. But it's absolutely something you can do, because YOU HAVE TO! Your reward isn't just the view, but the cool air in the cave. It's remarkably cooler. Be sure to bring a lot of water if it's warm out because there's no shade along the way.

Silly Mtn is just across Hwy 60 from our RV Resort and every time we pass the parking lot we see many cars parked there. Finally my hiking group walked over from Canyon Vistas RV Resort and hiked the loop you see here, plus every "cross path" for a total of about 6 miles. The group marked it Easy to Moderate but there wasn't much in the easy category... but the scenery was a big surprise and I'm glad I did it!!!!!!!

no dogs allowed....?!

Great hike through the desert. Relatively close to the East valley. Well maintained and we'll traveled. Great views at the top.

Love this hike. The view is spectacular and the hazy mountain tops are a treat to the eyes!

Great trails for families. One of my favorite ones.

Good hike with kids. As with all AZ hikes, bring water! There were bees at the summit when I was there so watch out. The "caves" aren't really caves. But its fun anyway.

Gotta love this Hike!
It starts out rather easy but about half way you do get a little bit of an incline through big rocks yet it's not crazy difficult to get up to the Cave.
On the day hiked it there was another family with about 6 kids ranging from 14 to maybe 7 years of age, so yeah, if kids can do so it, why cant you!?
Anyhow, the sights from the top are quite nice and definitely one cool cave to go see!

Decent views. Easy to access. A bit too close to the highway for my liking.

Wonderful trail with a great view. Felt safe the entire time. Only saw a few people. Just make sure you follow the signs carefully or you might end up in a different parking lot.

Fantastic easy hike. Doing the whole loop gives a decent workout. Shaded. Beautiful view at the observation deck, as well as boulders to climb around.

Fun trail! Not a moderate hike in my opinion, more on that easier side. There is a gate entry fee of $7.
