HikingGreat!

Started at 7 a.m. to beat the heat and crowds. This was an awesome hike. We went clockwise: up the Marco De Niza trail which eventually turns into the Midlife Crisis trail, and then down through this beautiful rock strewn canyon (Hidden Valley Natural Tunnel trail) which connected with the National Trail which we took to the dirt road and back to the trailhead. Not too many people until we hit the National Trail and then it was a thoroughfare with LOTS of mountain bikes zipping by. We were glad we went in the direction we did. Great hike. Total mileage logged was 6.1 miles.

Perfect mild terrain hike. A few bikes when I went but not as many as I thought. Pretty good photo opportunities as well. Scenery was great; came across 2-3 little lizards but that’s it. I’ll be doing this one again.

Amazing views and fun to watch the train leave at 1530. Long distance with kids though haha.

Really cool hike!! Best one yet. Narrow trail if you go left first. Many forks to choose different trails. Beautiful views

Hiking

Smooth trail, many bikers but all very courteous. Missed the turn for the summit, didn’t reach the top, didn’t make the loop around due to 2 rattlesnakes blocking the trail (and were not super happy to let me birth around them). Fun hike, good for trail running too.

A good hike if looking for easy terrain. Great to do after a day day after a hike with many elevations.

My wife and I did this hike and it was out longest recorded hike so far. Best idea from our perspective was to take midlife up and national back down. It took us about 2hrs and 45 min to do the 6 mike hike with a few short rests along the way. Very engaging hike on midlife with bouldering and national back down was easy I would say but kind of boring once off the single track and on the gravel for the final 2.5 miles. Good chance to rest after the 30 minute mile ascent. closer to 15 min miles on the decent.

We did the loop clockwise. The first 1.5ish miles were tough walking along the ridge line. Middle 2 miles we’re beautiful. Overgrown at some parts and had to do some mild climbing.

On the challenging side of moderate, but still very manageable. Not much traffic. A few spots where you might miss the trail.

First part up a really Sandy road. Only saw one person on the trail which was nice. Probably because I went in mid day heat on a Monday. Nice bench at top.
