Great scenery. Only a small patch of snow on the trail near the top.
Really nice truck trail. Drove downtown eg road/trail a bit before parking. Hiked all the way down to the valley. The scenery is a fantastic view of nature rebuilding after the past fires. A bit tough heading back up. Measured 600 ft elevation gained seemed more.
Uphill climb the whole way to breathtaking views from Suicide Rock.
Our second hike for the day, we drove down the right and winding road to the trail head. The map at the trail head indicates the falls are 7/10 mile from the trail head. We took a wrong path and did not make it to the falls. The trails are note well marked after passing the first intersection (Fisherman’s Camp Trail-Tenaja Falls. Regardless, the trail was nice and easy. Be prepared to cross the stream, but it’s easy enough. Lots of people and parking was a little tight. Dogs are permitted if on a leash. A gorgeous day and a great day outside.
This is always a very enjoyable trail for me. The slopes are a bit step and slippery at times plus you won’t get any shade so pick a nice cool day + trekking poles. Great workout!
Nice moderate trail. Not very challenging
Absolutely gorgeous trail with stunning views at the top!
Really lovely hike. Gradual uphill the whole way. Gorgeous trees and some small waterfalls. Expansive views at the top and a nice place to rest. Loved it!
Exhausted!
The scent of pines, giant pinecones, views, a few patches of snow under the trees, and a well maintained trail. A perfect way to spend a warm spring day.
Great out and back for us and the dogs.
Short and sweet out and back hike about 1.2 miles each way. Lots of glass at the top of the falls, so bring a bag, if you’re able to help clean up! After the fisherman’s camp sign, take the SECOND left. The first leads you to stagnant water that you can see the trail and a sign saying “falls” with an arrow on the other side but no accessible way to cross. Keep going and there will be another left turnoff that has plenty of rocks to cross the stream. Had 3 adults and a 20-month-old, a 3-year-old, and 3 large dogs and we all loved it. Rock scrambling and playing in the small swimming hole at the top of the falls. There are 4 swimming holes spread over from the top of the falls to the bottom but the easiest (and what the trail takes you to) is only the top swimming hole. It’s shallow (maybe up to 1 foot) while the others swimming holes looked deeper. There were definitely other people there so it wasn’t the easiest to socially distance. The road going in and out is twisty, windy, and has potholes throughout but it’s paved. Lots of blind turns. We came from Ortega Highway when driving to the falls. It was 11 miles on the windy road from this direction. We drove the other direction out of the parking lot heading home, in the direction of San Diego to try it out. It’s 5 miles on the windy road but with the same blind turns and poor quality road. Beautiful views during the drive, hike, and at the top of the falls! 4 stars due to the glass and amount of people. Uphill hiking to the falls and downhill coming back.
The trail start was a little tricky to find. It starts on a dirt trail next to the parking lot of the park, and resumes across the street. The actual hike beginning was even more inconspicuous, but you’ll find it on your left when you follow the dirt trail. The beginning is steep and a little difficult if you’re not used to hiking but it’s short and then gets much easier. The way down is the same. The views were alright, probably much better at sunset. Still a good trail to keep active!
I absolutely love this trail. Beautiful. Nature. A walk in the clouds when you reach the top. Amazing. Make sure to bring enough water and a few snacks to enjoy while you take in all the beauty of it.
amazing hike. steady climb all the way up with a nice descent after you've reached the top. did it with hiking shoes mid February but deeper into winter I can see the snow being an issue
Amazing Mountain View’s , AllTrails was a great assistance in locating the suicide rock. Some icy conditions , poles were a big help . Extremely fun day .
Awesome trail! We made it to the peak and it was great weather. 10 mins later the clouds and wind came in and made it a little cold. Going down was a breeze. It was a little snowy near the top.
Great hike some snow patches beautiful views!! Needed to have some poles for a little icy patch towards the top. All in all a great hike!!
