Great trail. Good mix of moderately steep and flat. Great views as with most South Mountain trails.

The only drawback to the peaks of North Mountain Park are the towers and clusters of communication apparatus. Lots and lots of people on these trails.

Nice hike, easy and quiet.

Fun trail occasionally hard to find. Some great views of red Mountain and the salt River. There are many other trails and washes that intersect. This makes it easy to take a quick short cut back to the beginning. We cut about 2 miles off the main trail by doing this. We didn’t want to do the whole 7 miles. We did about five.

Was a little skeptical at first because of the footing, but you get used to it. Great workout and view of the city is nice also

Park for free by the bridge just before Granite Reef recreation site or roadside just after. Granite Reef requires a paid pass.

This is a great MTB trail. I was hiking and went off trail most of the time. I did a Little Rock hounding and found some nice quartz.

It’s straight up desert crossing, not featured, maintained hiking trails. I like that.

Quiet and relaxing.

It was fun we had a group ranging from ages 41-9 years old. It was difficult to go up but easy to come down. We went off a little to the Hidden Valley tunnel then walked back down. Overall a fun hike, would say that it’s about moderately difficult

Scenic trail with a good combination of uphill and downhill sections throughout. Not well marked in a couple places and it would be easy to end up on another spur. Enjoyable otherwise!

I think the only parking area is about a mile away from the trail. You have to get a permit at the Walgreens on the way in ($8). I skipped this trail.

Great sunsets. Great happy hour!

Fantastic loops! Make your own distance by adding loops or subtracting...... good elevation not too much, good for trail running and bikes! This is a great easy go to trail system!

Started at 48th st parking lot. Ended up being about 6 miles round trip from there. Moderate difficulty. Not busy, but it is June.

Great little hike. Go for it. Not difficult.

Starts with steep hill then flattens a little. Perfect for trail run! Last year when I ran in Spring there were lots of flowers and was very lively. This time (End of May) it was a little hot (I come from CA), but still it was fun!

Nice trail, mostly flat but enough elevation to catch a few decent peeks at the Salt River and the Red Mountain.

awesome trail!

By far my favorite loop at the Hawes Trail System. Not as much elevation as doing the full Hawes Trail Loop, but the views are much better and the trail is way more fun. Lots of rolling hills and undulations - the miles just fly by. Trail is easy/moderate when on the Ridge Trail connector, bumps up to moderate on Saddle Trail, and is more difficult/technical on Saguaro Trail and Mine Shaft.

Pros - great views, well maintained trails, good terrain and elevation, not too crowded, most of trail is shaded in the afternoon/evening.

Cons - Trail is pretty poorly marked. Thankfully the AllTrails app on my phone was very accurate and I was able to get back on the trail pretty easily.

Great easy hike, moderate is a little overstated. Very nice facilities at the trailhead and well traveled.

Very little elevation gain, but a nice dessert hike.

More of a mountain bike than a hike trail. For hiking it’s pretty easy and very exposed. Not a tad of shade, so better for the winter months. Be aware of bikers.

Compared to some of the other hikes in the Valley, the signage and trail markings were a bit more difficult to follow. I was very glad to be using AllTrails for additional direction. The view at the top was fine, but surrounded by cellphone towers and power lines. A definite stopping point would be the old restaurant that burned down - great views of the city and surrounding areas and neat to see the old structure. We went clockwise and it seemed counterclockwise would have been easier for the incline, but a good workout overall!

Great trails in the park! Typical desert hike- bring plenty of water. There are lots of splits in the trail, and it's easy to end up hiking further than intended, and risking running out. Carry extra for your pups, too!!
