Great hike. Basically a straight line up from the trailhead. Great views up top. Trail markers can be hard to find at times.

Used this trail today to attempt to summit Madison (and maybe Adams) after slogging through a few feet of snow to the Madison Spring Hut I had to turn back. The conditions were not conducive to summiting solo. You win this round Madison. The Valley Way trail was a great fall/winter option as it provides a lot of protection from the wind. I had a great time despite being 4/10s of a mile from summiting and having to turn back. Can't wait to get back up there.

beautiful short hike with amazing fall at the end!

Fantastic view for very little effort!

This hike was harder than I anticipated. I am in my late 50s getting back into hiking after 30+ years. These were my 5th and 6th 4k's. We took the Webster Jackson trail. Jackson was a steep, wet trail, but we saw grey Jays on the way up. The trail seems to suddenly come to an end at a huge boulder then you realize you have to scale the boulder and 3 more above it to get to the summit, Did not enjoy that at all but the summit had great views and the steep climb down on the other side wasn't quite as bad but still bare rock. The path across to the Mizpah hut was delightful but then there was a very steep horrible climb up to the next part of the trail. If it had been any longer, might not have made it but it was only about .2 of a mile . The trail from there to Pierce not bad at all and the summit of Pierce was amazing! Made it all worthwhile, Took the Crawford path down, long and wet but Gibbs falls very nice near the end. Probably would not do this loop again but would do Pierce again from the Crawford path or Edmands trail.

Absolutely loved this hike. I was surprised by how easy it was even though the trail was wet and muddy. The views are spectacular and wide ranging across both summits.

Great trail with gorgeous views of the falls

Hiked with my 6 and 10 year old.

There are some steep spots but it's manageable for smaller kids. Middle has better views and the peak is expansive with lots of ridges but is noticeably more difficult than North. North is much easier but the views are not as good. That being said I would do both of them again but preferred Middle.

Up Jackson over to mizpah hut and down Crawford path. Ledgy at the top of Jackson. And a bit unsure which trail to take off Jackson summit. Otherwise it’s a great 6-7 hour loop at a slow to moderate pace.

Harder than I expected, but the views were worth it. I'm a little disappointed that there weren't any signs at the tops of either of the mountains. There was some kind of school trip so I passed a lot of kids coming down on my way up and mistakenly jumped onto the wrong trail in an attempt to get away from the crowd, but I made there! Steep climb up and down Jackson, no matter which way you chose, but it seems most people did Jackson then Pierce and said it was easier? Either way its a slow, wet descent. The boards along the path had frost on them, causing a few slips, and there were some locations where there was no way around huge mud puddles. It had rained the night before, so I expected some wetness, but even the ladders were slick and a bit dangerous. Prepare to get muddy! Round trip took just over 6 hours, with 15 mins on each peak.

Pretty good workout even though it’s fairly short. We only had a few hours so chose this and it was worth it! Went up to North Peak only. Took a total of about 2 hours to go up and back. Beautiful fall views at the top with the multi-colored trees. Wish we had more time to check out Middle Peak. But read the review about seeing the marker on the rock. If you head to the right of the boulder and down the path, it leads to a huge open area atop boulders. Very nice view!

This hike was incredible. Thought it was easy-moderate compared to some other comparable hikes I’ve been on. Parking was great. The trail was well maintained and well marked. Mostly roots and ground rather rock. This would be a doable winter trek with spikes or yax. The views were stunning at the top. We hiked this on a perfect September day. The sky was clear and we could see the top of Mount Washington clearer than I’ve ever seen before. I could have stayed up the top of this mountain all day. The running brook at the bottom was a bonus.

Easy walk to the falls. A few steps that are a little steep. Very rewarding!!

The trail after the Bald Knob viewpoint has been closed for restoration.

Steep in spots but the reward from the Middle trail is worth the work!

Steeper than most of the 4kers I’ve done. Struggled more with this than I did Bondcliff

on Sugarloaf Trail

Great hike, steep in places but so much fun. Lots of huge boulders to look at and an interesting trail. North has some views and passes through and old mining area. Middle is gorgeous with 360 degree views. I plan to go again in the fall. If you only have time for 1 peak choose Middle. The hardest part is climbing to the col where you choose which peak you want but the trails to each peak are easy.

Great hike with our 3 boys. Well maintained trail. Wonderful views at top!

Very cute, very short, tons of people

Love this hike- but this online map is wrong. The part labeled “bald knob viewpoint” is actually the top.... and the part labeled “Bald knob” is actually a different mountain called Turtleback.

This was a quick way to get off of Mt Madison in a stormy situation. You're quickly below treeline from the Madison Spring Hut. It's an easy, albeit quite steep, descent.

Beautiful. Calming. You must experience the powerful spray at the base of the waterfall.

A beautiful and wonderful, yet rugged, hike in the whites! This trail is properly rated as hard. I am a pretty experienced hiker, and many of the elements of the trail made it difficult. My only complaints: There was a great amount of pine and shrub overgrowth on the last 3 or so miles of the trail and was also closer to 4.5 miles, making it a 9 mile hike out&back. It took me approximately 6.5 hours, about 4 hours ascending. There are multiple “false peaks” but that didn’t hinder the beauty of this trail. Make sure to download the topo map to track your progress! The waterfall at the beginning was beautiful, and carried on for a mile or so. There is no “Mt. Madison” sign at the top, to my disappointment, so you will know that you submitted by using the map. Enjoy!

stunning.. kind of a larger crowd but.plenty free to roam around and see all it's beauty..just amazing

Really accessible with a jaw dropping view of the falls.

Really neat! Quick stop off the highway with an amazing waterfall. Recommend checking out the trails surrounding the area as well.

Make sure to bring some money because it is 5 dollars to park, but that will be good for other spots in the area for the day so if you are planning more hikes it is fine. It was a little hard with the kids coming back up because of all the stairs and they got tired, but the falls were very beautiful.

Stopped by on the way to Mt Washington. Well worth it. Very short walk but a few dozen steps. $5 self-pay parking. Best $5 I've spent. Explore the area around the falls if you have time.

Brought our dogs there today. It’s not a long trail but really fun! There are some nice spots to stop before you reach the main waterfall to cool off the dogs or your feet.
