incredible views along entire hike. good elevation gain, a little slippery at spots, wear good hiking shoes with tread. would not recommend to do hike in or after big rain

Great "off the beaten path" spot for cliff jumping.

A stunning hike. Parking is $25 (credit card only) but that buys you a three day pass to Haleakalā National Park, including the summit. If you have a National park pass or military ID, bring it for free admission. We arrived by around 12:00 and seemed to have beaten the crowd. The lot was packed by the time we were heading out, and the trail seemed to be getting pretty congested on the way down. After passing one dry waterfall half way in, we were worried that the higher falls would be dry also. They were not. Keep going — it’s worth it.

Given that we’ve heard this was one of the “must see” sights in Maui, it was a bit shy of a 5 star experience. This loop is short and flat, but it is beautiful. In any other locale, it would be stunning. It’s currently $25 for vehicle parking (credit card only), but that buys you a three-day pass for Haleakalā National Park, including the summit area. If you have a national park pass, don’t leave it in your hotel.

Beautiful view. Love this trail.

Short hike down to the blowhole with some fun scrambling in locations. Very unique natural attraction!

My favorite trail in Maui. Reasonably challenging with outstanding views of East Maui. Hiking shoes /boots recommended, definitely not a flip flop hike.

a nice hike, lots of elevation and a killer view. if the trail gets wet it is pretty slippery on the way down so essential footware is key

Amazing beach, walk along cliff path to the secluded cove with great swimming!

One of the best hikes in Maui! Go past the sign and go all the way to the fall! Completely worth it!

Great trail. Beautiful views. I went early and was the only person on the trail until I was part of the way back down.

Nice and interesting trail through lava field. If you go to the old lighthouse, there are two pools on the way that are worth to stop and swim in them. Just go to the lighthouse and when you see small path leading to the right side, go for it and you will find them! Enjoy! :)

We went this trail when it was raining a lot but it was still very beautiful trail! There are few waterfalls along the way, you go through bamboo forest and there is so big and beuatiful tree on the way! The waterfall in the end is huge and amazing. Definitely worth it!

Amazing hike! It is recommended to go in the morning because there is a better chance there won't be any clouds. Well, we are quite sleepers so started around 11am. On the way up, there were no clouds. When we were going down, clouds just started surrounding us and it was beautiful! many beautiful view, the path is in a good shape... higly recommended!

Nice hike! Used to hiking the rocky mountains so was an elevation gain but nothing too crazy. Still got in a great workout though. Beautiful views. Took us just a little over an hour up (with picture stops) and about 45 down. Could be muddy if it rained but wasn’t bad for us.

Very good trail. Awsome view. Bring water and good shoes. I’m a medium level sport fan and found it hard but finished it happy

Second time to do it! It was a windy and cloudy day with lots of mud from yesterday’s raining I guess. It’s nice to enjoy the view during the hiking. It’s absolutely a must-do in Maui if you love to workout a little bit

Thank you to many who posted about this hike. I had picked a different hike, woke at 2:00 am. Read your reviews. We woke in the morning and I told my wife ,”Change of plans!! This was by far the best hike we have done ... the bamboo, ponds waterfalls EVERYTHING!! ALL TRAILS best app I have. We live in Vancouver BC use it there all the time. Been to Australia, used it there. Been to Indonesia, Bali and yup!! Used it there In New Zealand, used it to hike Rangitoto Island. We took trails no one else knew about (on that day)
Thank you all keep posting. People read and make decision based on your feed back !!!

Really nice place, the forest is amazing. The park is setup for both hikers and Mnt bikers, with separate trails. It has some skills area for learning mnt biking, and seen some dads taking their little kids out I figured to go and ride the skills areas. Wish we had that back home. The left fork was great. The right fork cris crossed other trails almost a ridiculous amount. Had absolutely no issue with bikes, and had a great hike.

great unique lava water ledge hike to an amazing blowhole and cool heart shaped lookthrough

I think it’s a very nice and short one. Easy to take good pictures. No need to bring water or snacks just your phone is required. I even saw people wearing sandals on the trail. Just come and spend 1 hour and it’s worth it!

Lovely trail, excellent views. The most challenging aspect of it is the elevation gain, but if you have a lot of hiking experience, I definitely wouldn't rate it as moderate. It's a good trail for less experienced individuals or those just getting into hiking!

Definitely not the easiest scramble down and up. But the pools are amazing to swim in. The views are great as well. But, the suggestion about high tides is probably a good one. Having the waves crash just a few feet away was really cool, but you definitely do not want to get caught by one.

Fairly easy rock hoping to get down and up, kids and seniors were n the trail. So, yes pretty easy. The blow hole and heart rock were cool to see, the heart rock was smaller than I thought. The blow hole is pretty easy to get great pics with.

Very cool spot with several natural pools. We did not go down to the pools, just stood above at the look out. The signs before going down made us a bit frightened to try and venture down there but there were several people down there you just have to be smart. It switchbacks down the mountain to get to the pools. Very rocky, wear hiking shoes/boots

Great spot near Lahaina! The blowhole is really cool and there’s a heart shaped rock down near the blowhole to get photos with. Very cool! I saw a lot of people wearing flip flops. I would highly recommend wearing tennis shoes or hiking shoes/boots as there’s no “trail”. It’s just pathways with rocks and down toward the blowhole the rocks get wet and are very slippery!!! Pretty steep going back up as well. Spectacular views!! Try to get there early as this is probably the most popular spot along this highway. We got there around 8am and it was perfect, by the time we left around 10am the place was packed and no parking available!

Loved this trail! It was mostly flat but navigating through the lava beds created a great workout. The olivine pools were beautiful, as was the rugged coastline. Make sure to take the spurs off the main trail to see the rugged, but gorgeous, cliffs along the ocean. A bit of rock scrambling on the spurs, but well worth it. Also there was a special viewing of some wildlife. I did not think the trail was as hot and sunny as stated, but I would recommend a hat and sunscreen.

More challenging than described . Disappointed with the final lookout.
