Plan to arrive early if you want less people around and prepare to get your feet wet crossing the stream to get better views of the waterfall. Cool place!

Great for newbies! it is flat and paved trails. We did the entire loop and it was well shaded in summer. I will not call this hiking, but a nice walk at the park!

short and steep, perfect for highpointers! probably not worth it if you're not interested in bagging all the high points but still a nice little hike.

This is a nice, well-maintained wooded trail with lots of ferns and some scenic overlooks. It got a bit congested, but it was a nice local day hike.

love the views and cliffs. much wild life

Great hike on a short loop. I went right first to Tolliver falls which is small but has a little beach and pool area if u want to cool off. Then upper falls that you can go on and has a nice vista view down river and a little down the river a nice view back upstream at it. Lower falls after that then nice rocky hike to muddy creek falls the biggest of the group.

Great...I'd definitely do it again.

Great hike. First mile is straight up- but doable! The hike is 5.1 this includes the walk to the parking lot. Wear good shoes and the “caretaker” left a note to “look out for snakes”. (Sunday Aug 6) They too are happy to have the sun-shining. I am very happy not to have seen any.

Short, steep trail with nice views on top. Very little traffic on the trail today considering it leads directly to a state high point (MD in this case). Very well signed and blazed. Only drawback is that the trail is rather rocky. Be sure to wear a good pair of boots.

As of today Trails A and B are closed but the trail to Great Falls overlook is great. It’s flat, smooth, small pebbles; easy for walking or biking. The overlook is incredible.

I LOVED this trail! Not sure why this says 5.1 miles...it is only 4.4, unless I missed something? It was just the right amount of hard and easy for a short day hike. Pretty much the whole first mile is uphill. Not terribly steep but not easy! Then it flattens out and is a nice walk to the rocks. The trail is so wide which is nice because it's heavily trafficked on a weekend!

After almost 2 weeks of rain the trail was pretty muddy. For the most part you are able to walk around it or rock-hop but there were a few times I was in my groove and just sunk down in the mud. But like I said...two weeks of rain!! So who cares about a little mud! I can't imagine the mud will clear up quickly since people are already back on the trail after so much rain, so just be prepared. The rocks were beautiful and there are several spots you can walk around to for a view. Just be careful obviously.

The trail was definitely challenging at the start, which I love. It levels off a little more than halfway to the top. Nice out and back trail, not too long if you’re kind of in a rush like we were, but you get a good workout in right away. Fun trail, and the view at the top is so worth it!

After a climb, you skirt along the top of the mountain. Highly recommend.

I considered this more of a walk than a hike. The falls are pretty. You can connect with other trails to see a total of three waterfalls.

*** FLOOD CONDITIONS ON THE BALTIMORE. COUNTY. SIDE ***
Today, I hiked the park road on one side of the park heading to the Glen Artney side of the Avalon section. - My pictures depict the damage on that side. - Only a few trails on that side are OPEN. - You can drive up to the Soapstone trail head and hike your way up to S. Rolling Rd. but the trail has a few detours. - The Inner Soapstone trail along Glen Artney Rd. is CLOSED. The Bull Run trail is also OPEN. - If you park up at the Fire Rd. you can hike the Santee towards the Hilton Area but trails leading to the Grist Mill are CLOSED. - The 2-mile Grist Mill trail is CLOSED and will be for the rest of the year. - All the footbridges are washed away. - The parking lot at the Lost Lake Pond is CLOSED. - It was a iffy day with the weather so I hiked the road knowing I could take shelter if needed. - The skies looked bad but the rain never came. - The ( Left ) Howard County side is ALL OPEN. Enjoy !!

Super easy trail. Great for kids.

Yet another wonderful trail. I've been here twice now - once in winter and once in summer. I will definitely be going back in the fall. Awesome views!

Picturesque, accessible to everyone, and a pretty reasonable hike.

A great trail that's not too steep, and wide. Pup had a blast. Heavy foot traffic. No creeks for cool down, bring lots of water for your pup.

Challenging and fun!!! Definitely coming back. Beautiful scenery.

Loved it, only a short walk before the rain but I will be back

We visited the falls after a few good days of rain and the flow was amazing. The signage at the trailhead shows it as a 1/2 mile out and back. To make it a loop you must take the cliff trail for a bit.

This is one of my favorite hikes for a in and out, it is not hard, and the view is nice. Bring a lunch, and enjoy it on the rocks. Talk to the camp host, and just enjoy it.

Are there snakes and/or bees this time of year?

Please remove the protruding blowdown at 39.23987, -76.74987 — it is a true hazard and someone could get hurt. Otherwise, 5 stars.

Did the A trail with 2 teens. challenging spots for a nice workout. Not too crowed. Going back again for sure!

Fairly easy hike. There is a section early on that most of the elevation gain occurs, but it is easy elevation. The view is amazing! Will definitely do this again.

Ran a segment of the Avalon Loop Trail. Great trail for running, but watch out for bikers!

This segment is one of my go-to courses for training and mile repeats. 4 miles total.

fun trail, easy enough for kids too.

My 1 year old Chocolate Labrador and I tested out this trail for the first time (mid July); the weather was perfect, the trail itself was an easy climb, and the view from Annapolis Rock was lovely. This trail was just enough exercise to tire a pup out by its end.

P.S. I was pleased to find a dog-drinking station at the rest area. We did bring our own water just in case. :)
