Great Hike. Saw two coyotes, elk and deer. Bathrooms were closed when I went due to the government shutdown. Hardly any trees on this hike but amazing views.

Did this on Jan 12, 2019. Beautiful views of ocean and also wildlife— lots of elk quite close by along the trail, and lots of birding opportunities. Incline is not too bad as well. Got to tomales point trailhead parking lot around 10:45 and the small parking lot was full but there’s grass area right next to it that is used as overflow. By the time we left (around 3:45), there were double the amount of cars.

Really beautiful and scenic coastal trail. The hooting of owls, flowers, and eucalyptus trees make for a great stroll.

Loved seeing the elk and pretty flat - my 9 year old was able to complete the hike!

Nice hike for those who want lots of wildlife and ocean scenery. Started before sunrise and by the time I was back the lot was very full. Recommend getting there early.

Great hike. It is neat to see the Elk herds. Worth the trip.

This was a great hike. Mostly moderate until the climb up to Verna Dunshee which was very steep and rocky. But the views were outstanding. We were grateful it was a clear day!ill do this one again for sure!

Fun hike with friends on New Year day. Gorgeous views, a little crowded but tons of cool graffiti art in the Ana dined buildings and bunkers.

From the parking lot to the top is more like 2 miles. All uphill but worth the climb, take breaks if you need them! Lots of dogs, mine can be snappy and I had no problems. Bring water for the pups and you!

Go counter clockwise for a sunset view towards the end of the hike. Fairly easy hike with a clear path.

One of my very favorite hikes. Seeing water on both sides is amazing. The Tule Elk are fun to see on the way.

Short and spectacular. Worth every step.

Steep incline worth the views!

Awesome views!

Nice easy walk, mostly flat. Shade, forest trail on the west side and sunny on the east side. I suggest to start at the water dam parking side early afternoon, and hike around the lake counterclockwise for a pleasant sunset final loop ending. Shore fishing is common on this last segment.

I’ve got to agree with everyone else: fantastic hike. In addition to the views you’ll see tons of raptors - especially Harriers, Red-Tailed Hawks and Kestrels - as well as Tule Elk, Mule Deer and Coyotes.

Beautiful crisp blue Christmas Day hike. Definitely worth waking up early to avoid the crowds. Majestic elk and magical floating birds. A Sonoma County gem! The views at the point are stunning.

very windy but awesome views. saw elk, coyotes, vultures. highly recommend but dress warm!

Super easy. Not much of a hike, but some good views of city, ferry ride over.... great way to spend a day !

Wide open views of the cliffs and sea. Very steep but worth the payoff. Lots of side paths to meander to vistas.

Great day with the family. Plenty of places to go and things to see. Lighthouse, trails, Mammal research Center...and the view!

Great hike! Nice views, solid workout, clearly marked path.

Gorgeous views of the entire city and north bay.

Amazing hike on very easy terrain. Too bad I forgot my binoculars because the elks were beautiful and majestic, we also got to see whales in the distance!

We've driven past this trailhead for years and never stopped to check it out, until 2 weeks ago. Glorious Fall day with clear skies, not very hot, perfect for hiking! Made it almost all the way to Muir Beach before we decided to head back and get lunch in Mill Valley. Saw a garter snake sunning on the trail, always a plus to get some wildlife viewing!

Nice hiking trail, the first half is a bit tough, but gets easier afterworlds. If you're looking to hike in forest between trees, pick another one. This is open high elevation space with nice views overseeing SF, the beach and marin county.

Beautiful Views! The Elk are Spectacular!!
