We have hiked this trail many times and loved it every time. Unfortunately the Woolsley Fire burned the trail.

Love this hike, it’s a great challenge, has some seriously beautiful lookouts and is typically a low crowd. The rock is really cool and it takes a Little Rock scrambling but very doable. Hiking boots recommended. Bring water and keep track of trail bc it’s not clearly marked in some spots.

Great hike, got to do it with a friend on a cloudy day. Both eleavtion and distance turned out to be more than the plan said. We both brought 3 literally of water, but could have used more. The view of the water was gorgeous.

Beautiful hike!

Great hike on the main trail into Sandstone Peak- gradual ascent, some minor scrambling, not too many rocks. Wonderful views across to Channel Islands from Sandstone, but a lot of scrambling and sharp rocks to get there- great for the experience, but not something to repeat often.

Definitely one of my favorites so far though not sure how often I would come since the drive in (coming from south east) is somewhat lengthy and windy. The trail is mostly easy to follow with the exception near Tri Peaks. You can never have enough sunscreen or water for this hike! Bring a hat.

Off of the Mishe Mokwa trail there is Balanced Rock trail (~ 0.8 miles in and out per map) - this is an unofficial, unkept trail and by no means would I recommend it to someone without a map because it has several false trails. However, the balanced rock is stunning up close and provides great shade for a break! Total hike, 7.6 miles, took me close to ~ 5 hours. Moderate difficulty best describes it. The views make it worth it.

What a great hike that has all kinds of layers and adventures to it. I did the lower east loop that goes through a bunch of epic rock formations (great for rocking climbers), the former set of hit TV show M.A.S.H, and ends with the rock pool where people gather to swim and jump off mini cliffs in the wilderness. I could only imagine how this park looks when there is actually water in the Malibu creek, it was all dried up pretty much when I went except for the rock pool area.

Most of the trail is wide and flat for the most part making it very doable yet still a great workout since it's about 6-7 miles long (roundtrip).

Moderate intensity but views are totally worthy! We started at 10:00 am and was a little hot. I recommend to start earlier, because the round trip takes about 4 hours if you stop to take pictures and the sun is really strong while going back. Otherwise, amazing!!!

Nice hike! It had nice views, and you felt like you were getting a good workout as well! Recommend!

New to Southern California and couldn't seem to find a hike comparable to those in Oregon. However, this trail changed everything. I did the whole loop and took the detour out to Tri peaks (which i'd highly recommend). The trail is diverse and has the most amazing views almost the entire time. Loved every second of this trail and I'd HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking to get out on a good hike.

There are many variations to this hike. The views are excellent. I always take extra water and changes of socks. For some added distance, scatter across Boney peak to Conejo peak.... which takes you to Balanced Rock and Mishe Mokwa.

Loved every step of this hike! Gorgeous views.

Did this hike on Sunday morning. The weather was just perfect! once you reach inspiration point, it's all worth it. the Fog added to to adventure. so much to see and to do! I recommend this hike early morning.

Did this trail at 8am this morning and the weather couldn’t have been better. It was a moderate hike that took us about 3 hrs but that was with a couple stops to take pics and to sit and relax at the top for a snack. I forgot to set the gps until .27 miles in. My watch tracked it as 6.32 miles back to the parking lot.

Definitely go counter clockwise. Amazing hike. Would do this again. The view from sandstone peak is incredible! Actually closer to 6.4 miles.

Nice long trail, would rate this one as moderate not hard. The parking is free unless you pass the stop sign (be sure to fully stop or you’ll get ticketed) and it’s a brief uphill walk to the trailhead. The initial portion is fairly easy with some incline. The trail the takes you down through a Topanga Canyon neighborhood (just a few houses) which is interesting (saw an abandoned car on the trail). Once you get through the neighborhood, the incline begins on a fire road and is steady for about a mile and a half. You can then continue on for just a bit to relax/detour at Eagle Rock at the top. From there we took the descent into Garapito trail which is further down in the canyon and mostly covered. It’s a single track and well maintained. Our group got stung by wasps which hurt like a mother, must’ve hit a nest or something. Watch for poison oak, we passed it a few places on the Garapito. The trail will dump you out into a fire road where you then continue on an incline up towards the parking lot. I drank about 2 liters. Part of the trail is exposed so be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen. Took us about 4.5 hours with a 15 min break and clocked in a little over 9 miles. Great views, long hike but fun!

Creds- Have AllTrails Pro so know on correct path, mileage and time at any point (GPS excellent).

Free designated parking at trailhead.

Started at 11:am since temps now cooler (less than 80F). Went counter clockwise. Trail starts to go into canyon with 2 miles, so don’t be fooled by Trail names such as ‘road’ on map. ~85% on trails (not fire roads or neighborhoods). The neighborhood walk portion was less than 1 mi and was a house here and there-few houses are really away from civilization.

There was one slightly steep section going down, but walkable. Uphill on way back not significant- recommend going counter clockwise. Breeze entire route. Lots of shaded areas but definitely need hat and 2 liters of water.

Entire trail great condition. Never had to sit / use hands going down or up. Never had to duck under trees. Lots of views. Lots of dead/ dried out flora- from drought? Fauna - family of quails, lizards, 1 small garden snake. Saw ~8 hikers.

Great hike!

just loved it! was perfect for walk and jog and sights were wonderful to see!

Good trail, easy to follow. Moderate intensity on the way up. It was more like 10 miles round trip and took me 3hrs and 30mins. Nice views from the top of the ocean and the valley.

Solid. Didn’t see anyone for 3 hours, other than some rock climbers. Not really one to do solo in hindsight.
I went side to side rather than there and back - no WiFi the other end, a few lodges and stuff you can log on.

Beautiful easy hike. Loved the MASH set.

Great hike and views. Wasn't very crowded either.

Great hike, bring and carry water though.

A good workout. Some nice views, but a large portion of the hike is in the canyons and among the brush with no vistas. The last few miles are punishing in the summer heat—seemingly airless ravines followed by an uphill march up a roasting hot fire road. Bring a lot of water and a wide brimmed hat.

Great hike. Lots and lots of snakes guys. Be careful

Nice views. Go early.
