More easy than moderate. Beautiful views from the fire tower at the top.

I’d put this on the easier side of moderate, took the Indian trail up and The bridal trail down, just under 2 hours.

worth the trip! swimming and cooking food by the pond was a great end to the day!!

fantastic views! A worthwhile trip. My 6 year old had a great time and the lake near the end was perfect for our post hike swim. Some scrambling required, but there are some great views along the way even if you don't summit.

Moderate hike with nice views :)
*slippery when wet! Lots of moss covered rock in some of the steeper areas.

(Gorgeous but don’t tell everyone)

Wonderful well marked trail. Low-moderate. We did this and the associated Sandborn River loops in 3 hrs. Awesome.

Took the bridal trail up and down with two 15-pound dogs no problem. Beautiful view at the top.

a great hike. indian trail is well worth the effort. views are spectacular.

The trails were poorly marked once you got passed Bald Mountain. Once we passed Bald Mountain, we followed the yellow blaze trails and cairns to reach the peak of Speckled Mountain. This was a good choice due to the other colors such as blue and red were boundary markers that lead to logging areas. It was a fun hike with terrific views. The trailhead its self is hidden without a kiosk, and it marked by an Inland Fisheries and Wildlife sign. The pond provided us with a refreshing dip after the hike while listening to the loons sing.

Very good hike, well described - two very good peaks, great views, two steep inclines, but otherwise a casual hike. Highly recommend.

Only downside is limited parking at trailhead. Arrive early.

We did both mountains and the loop trail around the pond at the bottom of the mountain-great views, moderate hike. Got to go swimming in the pond after with not a soul in sight...truly a glorious day and experience. Highly recommended on a hot day and you’d like to cool off after. Moderate level of difficulty. One of my fabulous hikes so far.

We did this trail in April, when there was still quite a bit of snow on the mountain, which made the ascent pretty difficult, but it was our third mountain we’d hiked so it would be much easier now-especially in summer or fall! Views at the top were really great, so overall I’d say it’s not too difficult a hike. A bit hard to find the parking for this mountain though-even asked the locals and it took 2 stops and 4 people before we were finally pointed in the right direction. Overall a good hiking experience.

I love this hike! Bridal trail is moderate in your mid life our late teen kids kicked it on Indian trail. Amazing view on the fire tower if you’re not afraid of heights or have someone to coach you up!! The carriage trail is a nice walk but if you decide to go up the back on the hardscrabble trail there is a lot of mud and trees down blocking the trail. You have to be vigilant about the trail signs. Also the uphill slope is difficult. If you’re going down from the fire tower slow and steady wins the race for your first 20 minutes. Then you’ll just be fending off the black flies. Cool tracks in the mud human and animals!!

A long walk through nice mixed forest. Lots of raspberry bramble. Damp trail means lots of biting bugs but also frogs, snakes and birds. The trail we walked is out and back, not a loop. Picnic table at edge of lake where the trail ends. Id rate this easy. Similar to hatchery brook just much longer.

Great short hike with kids. Found the trail head easily enough following the new blue signs on Lily Bay Road. Note that the trailhead is 4 miles off the main road, not 3 as the sign says. The hike was nice, quick up with views from the fire tower. Not much water for our pooch on the way up though.

Excellent adventure

We found the trailhead easily following the directions. About 1/4 mile in, we came across a bear cub - so cute - but he ran up the trail and we decided mama couldn't be far and we didn't want any trouble, so we backtracked and had lunch at Kokadjo, then hiked Burnt Jacket back toward town. We'll be back soon!

Me and my girlfriend hiked Indian Trail on our way up and had amazing views and at some points being on the shear side of the cliff. Indian Trail ends up intersecting with Bridle Trail and from there to the top it wasn't much until we got to the fire tower. After climbing up the fire tower there is the most impressive view! The hike back down was Bridle Trail back to the Kineo docks. Overall very enjoyable hike

A nice hike with some steeps, but not too much. The view from the bench at the top is beautiful.

Panoramic view at the top if you climb the ladder of the old fire tower.
We logged 2 miles from the parking lot to the summit

Took the bridal trail up and down but regret it and wish we took Indian up and bridal down. There are a few vistas along the trail which offer views as well as a fire tower up top. The fire tower looked very sketchy and I’ve been up 4 or 5 of them in New York. Also taking the ferry is required to get to the island so make sure you plan around that.

Challenging climb up Indian Ridge but a must for the amazing views! A few challenging steep areas but manageable. You must climb the tower! The view is spectacular!! Bridle path back down a little washed out. Some cool wood walkways. Beautiful walk along carriage path along the lake!
3rd time taking this hike and look forward to doing it again! Oh and the ride across the lake in the shuttle is fun! The boat master is great! Ask to read the info he has about Mt Kineo!

Spectacular hike that hits 2 summits. A few rugged spots but not too bad. This description does not say that you walk over 1/2 mile into the pond before you hit the trailhead for the mountains. We clocked the total hike at 6.5 miles. Very easy walk into the pond and there is a trail around the pond for anyone who just wants an easy day. Not sure what the mileage around the pond would be.

is an easy start but does get harder as you near the top with some parts of the trail being mainly climbing up semi steep rock and not just a dirt trail. has some beautiful views at the top and is totally worth the hike.

This hike is extremely boring and is gravel and dirt for the first 2.2 mile walk in to the actual trail. Poland springs has all of there signs up that say Please No Trespassing and they are EVERYWHERE! Just an unpleasant hike and wanted to save those who want something enjoyable to walk and hike on.

Great hike a lot of beautiful views and good elevation changes

I hiked this mountain in the winter with a group - the Northwoods Wellness Collective. We had hikers of all ages with us, kids as low as 11 and adults as high as late 60s! We parked at the dock and walked across a frozen Moosehead Lake to the trail. There's a nice spot near the summit for views, and I highly recommend heading up the fire tower for epic views.

Beautiful hike and views. We had to side step parts of the Speckled mountain trail as they were covered with ice but it was November 26th.

South Bog Trail is a quiet trail located on the southern shore of Rangeley Lake. It's a long, beautiful walk in and a great trail to spend some time on with your family. There's an interpretive section of the trail for visitors.
