I brought 2- 8 year old boys on this hike on the 1st day of summer vacation. It was a lot of work for them but well worth it. What a great day!!

Date hiked 12/1/2018
Trials well maintained no crampons or snowshoes needed as of that day. Minimal snow, easy terrain for dogs so just steep for a good mile or so of the hike. If there was more snow, would highly reccomend crampons for safety. Overall good hike and good trainer if you plan on moving onto some bigger mountains. Oh, the view isnt too bad either :)

Quick great hike. The road to this trail it’s close in the winter, you just have to walk extra 0.4 miles to get to the trail head. Beautiful views of the lake and ocean sites of the mountains

Great hike, went with my husband and one year old son (he was in a backpack carrier). Great views, wasn’t too long, and quiet.

This was the first physical activity I had done in 6 months, upon walking..I was exhausted and felt like I was going to pass out, it is not an easy trail. But it was well worth it! Even after sunset and close to dark it was so stunning.
There are roots and small rocks scattered around, so it’s a good idea to bring sneakers with grippy soles or hiking boots. You definitely have to watch your step.

I’d definitely do it again! The fire-tower at the summit is unexpected but provides good views.

Make sure you do the whole loop, not just the shortest (steepest) climb to the tower or you'll miss the amazing views on the .7 section.

Steep in the beginning but not too difficult. An amazing place to watch the sunset without the crowds of Cadillac Mountain! Loved getting to climb up a ways on the fire tower too.

accidentally decended and had to go back up. beautiful both ways. best views.

Very nice and beautiful

Stunning Views follow this fairly rigorous hike. Plenty of friendly folks on our way up and down the trail.

amazing hike... 1 of my favorites... beautiful fall day too... couldnt ask for a better hike

Start at Echo Lake at the end of the Parking Lot. You will get to the Ladders.

Hiked the whole thing before realizing there's no ladders on this trail.

Great 1.5 hour hike with excellent view at the top!

A fun trail, moderately steep in a few places, great views at several points along the trail and at the top.

We hiked this as a family in August and highly recommend it. There are a few exposed ledges but nothing too scary for a family that is by no means skilled. at the top, take the short loop trail to the right for great overlooks. not crowded even at high season. If you are looking for the ladders, know that they are not on the trail shown here on Alltrails. The ladders are on the trail up from the Echo Lake Beach House just east.

could still see the top by driving to it. but the walk up was 100% worth the climb. but if you don't want to climb up the rock face you can still see the veiws.

It felt more like a climb than a hike at points, but we still enjoyed it. The views were spectacular! Bring a lunch to enjoy at the top.

Great views at the summit!! Well marked trail.

A very pleasant, short hike with absolutely gorgeous views along the way and at the top !!!

Kind of a weird feeling climbing up and then running into an asphalt road... Not nearly as rewarding as the Megunticook climb, but still pretty nice view when you get to the top. It can get confusing, especially when you get to the road, but still a lot of relatively stable land

I think this a moderate to hard trail. lots if trails to access different areas of the mountain side. Each has their own level of difficulty. well worth the effort for the views. Gorgeous!

Beautiful trail! Great vistas to the east and west!

The views are well worth it!

Great for a quick outing, the ladders only add to the fun!

Best spot to over look Long Pond Lake. Beautiful!

Great views along the way. Pretty steep and rocky at times for kids and older adults. Worth the hike though, highly recommend.

Great reward of a view at the top, not too many views throughout the hike. The last part of the the hike is on the road, wish it took you all the way up. Fairly easy though tiring hike up the mountain. Did this hike with 1 adult and 2 kids under 10.

great trail, 2 adults, 2 kids (9&11), one dog. flattish to start, then pretty steep up the east side of the mtn. great views in several parts.
