Decent trail up a canyon. There are houses on both sides of the canyon. I thought I heard a piano on the ascent, but it was wind chimes. There is one steep segment (mentioned in other reviews), which was difficult due to recent rains. There is equipment near the top for trail/plant maintenance.

Creds: AllTrails Pro for accurate GPS real time location and mileage. 7.3 mi. 1,260’ El Gain. Went clockwise for both loops. First loop trail closed half way through, had to back track / go around (reason why mileage more then 5.7 planned).

Aside from closed section, rest of trails in great condition.

3 stars for terrible parking. Park only has slots for about 10 cars. Street parking ‘permit only’. Easy to miss. So I pay $1,000 dollars in city taxes a year to live here and people who live right next to park managed to get rid of public parking on this wide street I helped pay for. Wow. Amazing to me people buy a house next to park entrance and get upset when people park there?!?!

Beautiful hike with gorgeous views of Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, and lots of whales.

Fun and easy trail that takes you through the neighborhood and park. Incline and paved road make it great for hiking at a fast pace!

Beautiful morning walk!

Crisp views in the morning after the rain on Saturday night. A little cloud cover over the San Gabriel mountain range view on the trail, but Mt. Baldy and Mt. Wilson gathered a little winter sheet of snow and look satisfied. First time on the trail and would recommend for readers and exercisers alike!

fun trail to hike solo or with the dog(s). Couple of things to note- not much shade and can be pretty rocky. Be sure to bring plenty of water and if an older dog consider their paws/joints. overall a lovely hike with great ocean views

This is a fun trail. You can make it easy by staying the course or more adventurous by exploring new ways down!!!!

Easy enjoyed all the different birds

Really like the area and overall the hike is nice and long. The parking was easy to find and lots of dogs! I took my dog and it was a nice walk for him with great views. Started to get cold and windy towards the evening so try and get out there earlier.

I love this area. You have to get there before sunset. Great for dog walking as there are a ton of water fountains for dogs. The view can not be beat, you can see a beautiful view of the ocean San pedro, on the be other it's cool to watch the air planes take off.

You can see our trip here twitch.tv/rustynai1 under past broad casts.

Nice area for a power walk or morning jog.

Nice trail. Few people and empty. We started from Lunada Bay. Beautiful ocean views in the beginning. Goes along the canyon. Great combination of ocean views, rustic, canyon and good workout from up/downhill. Its under the radar.

Solid well maintained path in a residential community. Parts are for walking only, lots of signs whereas other areas trail running is ok.

Nice round top view of the surrounding area, even though it was a little hazy.

Why a 5 rating? It's personal. I need to get in shape for a backpacking trip I plan to do in the near future. This trail serves almost all my needs, save for the 9000 feet elevation, and it's a mile from my house. Switchbacks, Elevation gain, Gorgeous views, it's all here. What is surprising to me is that I might not have discovered it were it not for the Alltrails app. BTW i'm 70 and a half. Old guys rule!

nice run on this trail.

Trail head was difficult to ID at first, but after asking around, we parked at Paseo Del Mar & Avenida Mirola. The view is amazing. Very rocky path.

We do this hike often...we take the main Burma Trail Road and offskirt on the many different trails along the way to give ourselves a different hike each time...they all lead back to the main path at some point or another. We end at Portuguese Bend and turn around and it ends up being about 5 miles more or less. Really great workout with a lot of ups and downs. Dog-friendly although you will come across horses on this trail so make sure your pup is okay with that. Not much shade at all so bring a lot of water! Really gorgeous views. We love coming here in the springtime when the wild flowers are CRAZY beautiful! If you go in the summer, go early as it gets really warm. Check El Cerro Park for parking first, otherwise you’ll have to find a spot on the road. There are portajohns within the first quarter mile or so.

We take our young kids here all the time. It’s a fun, easy hike with so many cool birds to identify. Beautiful, peaceful, and nice HB locals. No bikes allowed.

This trail is one of my favorite go to spots to think while walking. Great people and easy to make new friends along the way.

It was a scenic walk with clear views of Catalina island and a calm ocean. I took the Paint Brush trail section and found a “Trail closed” sign about halfway through it. I only had about a third of a mile to go to connect to the next trail so I took a chance and proceeded since the trail looked well used even though it was closed. Luckily I brought a walking pole that was helpful to get down the steep parts with loose shale rocks. The pole also came handy going down the steep part before the rocky beach. The trail has you walk next to Palos Verdes Dr where the road is hilly and wavy due to the unstable ground. It was interesting to see cracks and holes in the ground due to the earth slowly sliding into the ocean. I took a nice break on the beach before heading back up. My tracking device said it was 3.4 mi down to the bottom and took 1.5 hrs. It took about 1:45 to go walk back to my car at the top of Crenshaw.

Cute trail through neighborhood.
100% incline @ all times!!

We started this hike a bit too late in the day so we ended up only doing portion of what we expected to. The scenery here was amazing the best I have seen in California so far however I have only been here a very short time. The beginning of the hike was on a wide trail for horses and potentially even vehicles so although the scenery was amazing there the trail was uneventful. But as we continued the trail God very interesting and at one point we had an area where the trail was closed but we decided to take a shot at it. That section was very steep and not very solid so a bit slippery going down. On the return part of the trip we cut across on a wide trail as well where there were mountain bikers and it was great scenery but not very adventurous of the trail. Overall this was a great hike however next time I would stick to the trail provided by all trails instead of modifying it for my time constraints. But again the scenery was amazing. Great trail to go with a dog.

Me and my boyfriend run here ever morning and we love it, it’s so peaceful and beautiful! Love love love!!!!

This is definitely hard but we enjoyed the adventure. Backpacked our little one down the whole way and stayed low. Our 7yr old son was very into it. When it comes to walking on rocks the whole way we didn't really mind it and it was fun working our way to the end.

Didn't really enjoy it. Walking on rocks all the time and the shipwreck is not worth it.

Great variety of trails with beautiful views.

Wear real hiking boots or hard soled shoes. You can actually drive down closer to the start of the real trail. The All Trails App has you starting in the neighborhood and walking half a mile up the trail start. Some parts might be tricky during high tide so be mindful.

I have walk this trial several times , but last times I have noticed less and less water and more house construction. So much destruction around the area. machines extracting water too. Very sad .
