It was extremely icy so spikes are strongly suggested... At least during this season. I am certain that after the snow and I smell it will get muddy. Beautiful bird sounds.. Many mushrooms around. 6 out of 10 would recommend.

Poorly marked. Some downed trees got us off the trail. Needed All Trails to get us back on the path. Still a really nice walk. Good to be out.

As of early March it’s still very icy, some places are impassable without snowshoes

SnowshoeingIcySnow

Being this is only 10 mins from the house, it is definitely a little gem. We were here a week ago and snowboarded the steep drops down to the frozen stream. Today, most of the snow has melted off the south-facing slopes, so snowshoes were not necessary. They worked great nonetheless, as it was the first time breaking them out this season. The main trail was completely covered in ice, so some form of spikes would be required. Awesome little loop trail, though!

Very icy right now, thank goodness for footprints in the snow or I would have been lost out there. The markers disappear on the trail for a bit but i made it out alive. It’s very quiet, which was nice! Wear warm waterproof shoes.

Trail in great condition - used snowshoes as there was a good amount of snow. Steps up to fire tower cabin were very icy - would not be great for kids. Have to go in firetower for views. Overall, great short hike!
