First timer here so took some side trips. Great trail. A lot of vertical on the east side trail, and your rewarded with great views early on. Made it a loop clockwise and much more gradual decent on the west side.

killer views.

For a quick bike fix this is the easy go to. You can go around the sports center many times if you need more, it is 8/10 of a mile around. You can also go out in the fields if no ones around. Go thru the park and there is a short single track that leads to a subdivision along the creek

It’s a great hike!

Very steep at some points but totally doable. I definitely recommend climbing the 1/4 mile or so up Snively’s ridge trail once you get to the top of the sky trail, the view from there is as good as any in the area.

Nice hike.

This is a "Hard" trail, not moderate.

Love the view of the valley from the peak. Great calf workout from the climbs. Shoes with good traction a must. Walking sticks will also help. Watch out for mtn bikes when they are zooming downhill, coyote and cow poop.

Bring 4 bottles of water during summer, 2 bottles during winter. Picnic table at peak for a great lunch with a view.

Easy stroll with decent views. Lots of mtn bikers during weekends, so be ready to share the road at times.

The BLM does a great job maintaining these trails and fostering an environment in which they are shared fairly by all different sorts of users, from horseback riders to mountain bikers. Everyone I have encountered was friendly—and you will encounter others, regardless of the time of day or year. The views, especially from Trail 41 out toward Toro Park, and especially in the spring or late rainy season, are incredible. Reminds me that the beauty of this valley has inspired a lot of art and literature. Most of the loop has wide, graded, gravel trails; some parts are even paved roads. Trail 41 is single track-ish—a little torn up by mountain bikes, but nothing the average horse or walker would have trouble navigating. Watch for ticks, as chamise is their favorite, and the park is dominated by chaparral and manzanita groves, dotted with beautiful live oaks that have not been affected (yet) by the ‘sudden oak death’ fungus.

Simple trails that is rarely crowded. Being lost in wilderness without leaving the city. My little piece of heaven. Great for mountain biking, but please share the road with walkers and runners, don't zoom downhill at 20mph, you will end up hitting someone or crash into the bushes.

A couple of really good grades. I’d say a cockwise loop seems best and look on satellite view for trails adjacent to Cougar Ridge on the way down, especially near the paved portion of Cougar.

Steep hills and gorgeous scenery. Overall a great workout!

Steeply ascending ridge trail with almost constant full-sun exposure, so plan accordingly on hot days. Nice vistas of Salinas Valley from upper elevations. Overall, a very good workout.

Great loop trail - gradual incline up Olson's or steep approach from the east /toyon trail
Good views from the peak

This trail starts at Gilroy Sports complex and is not closed. It's is a nicely paved path with access to paths that run thru woods along creek. It's attached to Christmas tree park. It's very close to Gilroy Trk stop and easy to get to along sidewalks. Excellent for dog walking.

I was a bit unsure at first. I saw that the entrance to Toro park requires $8 per vehicle but you can park outside the gate for free and take a little extra walk. The park gets full but the trails were practically empty. This specific trail was a constant up then a long down. The views were beautiful and the trail was peaceful and a good workout. If I were to repeat a trail I'd definitely do this one again.

Difficult trail even for in shape 50+ year old marathoners!

Great for a half day hike. Trail is shady for most of the hike and there are nice views of Carmel Valley periodically. Steep towards the top, but you are rewarded with a view that stretches all the way to Santa Cruz!

Nice length, good amount of incline to get the heart rate up. Nice amount of shade. Great view!

This trail was decent. Too crowded for my liking. Lots of other hikers, bikers and dogs. Lots of sharp inclines. Had to turn around after two miles because I had terrible blisters so I never got to complete it.

This is the toughest hike in the park in regards to altitude gain. Excellent views from the peaks, particularly Mt Simas. Quite steep, slippery, and exposed for the last stretch up Simas. Expect close encounters with cattle on Ollason peak. Excellent wildflower blooms throughout in spring.

Beautiful panoramic views of the Salinas Valley. Good hike year round.

I couldn't believe how beautiful the scenery is on this trail! It is now my favorite!

Ample parking. Dog and horse friendly. Sun and shade. Wide enough trails to walk side by side. Nice loop!

Thought the horses were going to be buggary with the wind but it was great. Just a little windy, enough to stay cool, clear skies, minimal trail traffic and those that we did meet up with were friendly. Will definately be going again... Miles and miles of trails left to explore...

nice trail in between cow pastures.

We hiked this trail with 4 adults and 4 kids under the age of 5 (granted, none of the children walked the entire way). It had a few modest inclines and declines and offered spectacular views of the valley and the redwoods were amazing. All season bridges we passable, even with moderate rain fall in recent weeks. This trail is definitely a keeper for us.

Amazing views! Just bring lots of water and go early before the sun gets too hot.

Another great 9 mile trip from the visitor center. Here's my route sequence: Car bridge-Lupine-Mesa-Garzas-Redwood-Terrace-Garzas-Mesa-Hawkeye-Fern-Mesa-Lupine-Visitor center. Solo trip, my daughter was sick.
