It was beautiful but it was overcast most of the time. Can’t imagine how awesome it must be on a clear day. Started at 10am and only 2 cars were in the parking lot. Didn’t see anyone until inspiration point. Great day

Great views the entire way. Well maintained with a good mix between mild rock scrambling and dirt paths. I'm not a view person, but inspiration point was stunning!

This place is absolutely beautiful! don't forget to bring water and snacks. It gets rocky on the trail so bring some good shoes and some good vibes!

Amazing hiking trails! All lead back to the entrance. Good workout, beautiful view of DTLA & the many dogs you'll see, water fountains available.

Absolutely stunning views on a fun and dynamic hike! Def check out Inspiration Point along the way.

This hike truly does have amazing views of the ocean and the mountains to the east once you get to the top.
I got there pretty early (8am) and parking wasn’t an issue. By the time I got back to the car three hours later the lot was full and cars were parked on the main road so get there early!
I took the longer route which is less steep and much more scenic. It’s a huge loop so I took the sandstone trail back. The last quart mike or so requires a bit of scrambling but it’s nothing crazy. The view at the top is probably the most amazing view in all of LA. I got lucky with a clear day so I could see as far out as the Channel Islands.
Definitely a must do.

Awesome hike - good workout and amazing views. Make sure to stop at Inspiration Point before heading to the peak. Inspiration point has the best views and more space to sit and enjoy.

Very pretty but not very hard

This trail is a great long hike for beginners! It was for sure a challenge, but very doable and well populated. Had read a lot about bug issues, but this time we experienced no bugs at all! The viewpoint at the top had some gorgeous sites and after a little walk through the parking lot, there was a great place with tables to hang out and take a break. Great hike! :)

Hiked San Gorgonio in the snow the morning of feb 25th via the Vivian Creek trail, nobody else heading up so had to make fresh tracks in the snow and had the peak to myself for a little while, beautiful day but hard work. Met a few guys heading up from other trailheads and camps later on. There is Snow and Ice on most of the trail from the trailhead and up. After High Creek the trail is fully covered and not visible, so I just headed straight up instead of trying to find the switchbacks up to the ridge. I used microspikes, which was fine. Others might prefer crampons. Some post holing from High Creek. Once you get to the San Gorgonio mountain conditions are similar to last weekend with wind blown packed snow that you dont sink into. I could see snow covered mountains in Sierra Nevada and Death Valley on this very clear day. Open water at High Creek and Vivian Creek, I drank some from High Creek without filtering on my way down, tasted wonderful. I would say the snow makes the hike about 25% harder. Wonderful!

Fav hike In The Santa Monica’s!! ❤️✨❤️✨

Definetly worth the hike. Gets pretty tough past Sturtevant campgrounds especially carrying 40 lbs of weight backpacking.

Great trail, had benches, water fountains and great views!!!

Hiked on Sunday 2/18. Pretty Consistent snow from high creek up. Brought micro-spikes, but did not use them. If you’re uncomfortable on snow they would probably be nice to have. Other than that; beautiful views to be had! Prepare for a long day, we started at 7.15 and finished around 6.

Such an amazing trail! We found the trail quite easy to follow. The view is absolutely STUNNING! We were blown away. The hike did not make us tired as it had a good balance of inclines and declines on the route. Took us a around 3.5 hours to finish. Bring plenty of water!!

Not too difficult and such amazing views. Very rocky and uneven in many areas so make sure to watch your footing. Highly recommend this hike! Only issue was people blasting music when we reached the top.

See and be seen here. Best part about this trail is all the doggies running around free as a bird! Worst parts are that it is hardly challenging and parking is a pain in the booty. The more difficult side is a steep climb up to the top, but the trail down is almost double the distance which is not helpful when you want to burn more calories.

Great trail and beautiful views. Part of it was closed so we couldn't do the full loop.

Definitely my favorite hike in SoCal. Not too long to destroy you but enough to challenge you a bit and get the heart rate going. On a clear day the breathtaking views of the ocean when you reach the top is well worth it.

Great hike, beautiful changing views. rocky trail so wear good shoes. lots of elevation change to challenge you.

Great hike - some challenging sections but amazing views of LA.

Great workout on the difficult trail as well as the paved trail!!! Can’t wait to co back

I summited San G on Friday, February 9th, 2018. I started my hike at VC Trailhead at 6:4t am solo. Made it to the summit and back in 10 hours exactly. A personal record. The top half of the trail was covered in snow. Enough snow to make it challenging, but not too much to make it dangerous. I felt confident hiking fast with micro spikes and hiking poles. I have been keeping a close eye on San G’s weather the past weeks and months. I would NEVER attempt this trail alone in february, had we not had a dry year like this year.

Plenty of footsteps all the way through the snow made by pervious hikers. No need for a gps device when I was up there. That could very well change after a storm.

Check the weather. Have the proper gear. Do your training. Let someone know about your destination and time and have a beautiful hike.

Beautiful views, too many people.

beautiful views!

Awesome hike! Great views and lots of elevation changes to keep me challenged. Trail signs would benefit from some arrows but it was still easy enough to follow. Definitely worth going up to sandstone peak!

Decided to do this hike to start off 2018 the right way. Made it to the trailhead by 6 and it was still dark as could be. Took me 7 hours to summit due to elevation sickness and another 4 hours to come back down. Easily one of the most memorable hikes I've done and was able to have the summit to myself for 30 minutes. Wasn't the hardest hike i've done but definitely the longest. Beautiful scenery and just an amazing hike in general. If i had to do it again, i would definitely camp and acclimate to the elevation.

Awesome no bugs right now

Was up here a couple days ago. Took the day off and started out early in the morning. Been hiking up here for awhile. Never disappointed with seeing wildlife. Very pretty up here. Not recommended for beginners though. You should have the right gear and experience to attempt this trail. Good luck
