Love this trail I use it everyday to get my exercise

I have a toddler. So anything that keeps the little entertained and outdoors is great! this trail has cute little signs to read and learn about planets and animals. Has a pond with a bridge that is fun with the kids!

Fun and beautiful, but don't like that there's no map to outline all the various trails.

This is a very nice trail for all levels.

First time trying out this hike, since it’s a little far from home. I saw one couple on the trail heading back, other than that no one. It was a Wednesday day around 5pm; definitely a time to go to experience the amazing view this trail offers.

Beautiful park. The trails are great for running with some short, steep grades and lots of root hopping as well as great views with lots of shade and some sunny spots. Perfect place for a moderate trail run.

Decent loop in town. Nice little getaway and there is a dog park close. Nice place to take the pup. Trail is well maintained and easy walking. Follow all our adventures on Instagram @themicrotourists.

Just did the main trail. Not a lot to look at but nice and quiet. Next time will do the some of the other trails that wind in and out.

this is absolutely one of my favorite hikes/trail so far. some vegetation seemed weirdly huge, and it really intrigues me.... I went with my 9yr old, 5 yr old, and 2 yr old... not crowded at all... my dog was happy here and the ending at the beach was so beautiful, i went back in march and you could see beautiful mountain panoramic views with little snow on em still. we try to visit as often as possible.

great trail for all ages just walked it with my 2 1/2 year old. beautiful scenery and a couple view benches along the way.

The beach was such a pleasant surprise.

not well maintained and totally overgrown

Not maintained very well.

Nice wooded hike, mostly easy with a couple moderate points. I can still hear cars on the highway, but it is reduced.

Beautiful view. Trail not well marked. Take a picture of the map at the beginning of the trail to follow along. Beach required a sketchy log crossing.

Lovely little trial. Not very well marked. And it was difficult to get to the beach with out balancing on a log to cross the water. Even during low tide the water was at least above my knees. Beautiful forest!

Did this hike today with my 4 yr old and 6 month old. My 4yr old walked almost the whole thing. Fun to swim at the end. Millions of tiny crabs. There where a few people on the trail down. We hike the trail down and took the road back to make it a loop.

This is a well-marked area with trails for everyone - bike-only trails, hiking trails, trails for horse riding. The main trail around the park is a gravel road (although no motorized vehicles are allowed), so it’s not the prettiest, but it’s well groomed. Lots of smaller trails that offshoot the road, so while the main trail is only 2.7 miles, you can easily add mileage if you need more. Plenty of maps throughout so you don’t get lost. Some nice ascents and descents.

Went early with a couple of friends and loved it. Beautiful diverse environment. Good shading that helped with inclines. I wore tennis shoes and my friends had on hiking boots- I definitely slipped more. Trail is well groomed, but there is a fair share of roots and rocks so you need to pay attention. Once you get to Beaver Pond, there is a large clear cut area, maybe fr wild fire ? But allows beautiful views of the Olympics. FYI there is no pond at the top- and we did encounter just a few motorbikes. When u get to top, there isn’t a big wow reveal. Recommend bringing seating pad.

I really enjoyed this trail! Great spot for kids!

It’s amazing how you can be right in the middle of Tacoma and be able to “escape” to a beautiful nature walk that just rejuvenates you. So beautiful in the springtime seeing turtles, birds, chipmunks, ant hills, flowers, raspberries, etc and large wooded area. We love this walk or run for anytime of day. Beautiful, fun park for the kids too.

Great place to play outside for the day

Beautiful forest.

Poor signage. But otherwise a nice walk

This trail was great! it was generally easy and the trails were very well marked with names/distances. LOTS of side trails to check out if you have the time. in general, the trail is very shaded and dense forest all around. We loved it! I would recommend parking on the LH side once you turn onto Tieton Rd, across the street from the trail map. Follow the signs for "Deer Fern" and you will take that to the "Old Loop" trail.

Great views! Trail to the beach is a little muddy. Access onto the beach at low tide. A nice little day hike.

Fun and easy. Great for fam, we all loved it.
