good trail, lots of rock formations down by the river.

Okay for a short family outing. Really not a lot of scenery. The river followed the trail the first half and that was cool. Really not a lot of places for camping.

This trail should be an out and back and not a loop... sure the trail keeps going, but it’s a 3 mile hike on the paved road back to wherever you parked your car. We didn’t follow the gps maps all the way and parked the car at the official trailhead on the side of the road, so our last three miles was spent walking up the hill from the campground. The beginning of the trail however, was beautiful and fairly easy. This trail really is not well marked so follow the path on AllTrails map! The creek along the way is beautiful!

Really nice trail.

My absolute favorite place to go, easy hike as well!

Only did to Princess Falls and back and I think it was about 2.5 miles total. The water fall wasn't flowing as heavily as I thought following a rain, but it was still beautiful.

Not for children/inexperienced hikers. Great for a workout and solitude. Steep stonecases and charming rock footbridges lead you through forest with gorgeous old trees and wild flowers. Features an arch, a creek to cool off and turns around at a nice picnic area/amphitheater.

Easy trail with a view of river

This is one of my favorite places to go. The trail is pretty moderate to easy. There were a few downed trees we had to cross. Also, when we went there were several muddy areas along the trail.

My friends and I did this hike with our children (ages 3.5 to maybe 10ish) and my 3-year-old did fine on it.

The falls themselves are absolutely beautiful. I wish I would have known of this place sooner.

wasn't very impressed...

Awesome but strenuous.

We enjoyed the trail but there were a few issues. There are a couple of places where trees have fallen across the trail and you have to go around. In both instances it was fairly obvious which way to go and the trail picked up immediately on the other side. Also, at the point where the trail starts to loop back, there was a sign that apparently had once been in the ground but was leaning against the tree when we encountered it. We mistakenly kept going straight onto the Cane Creek Trail for a while. We eventually realized that we were on the wrong path and turned back. For the record, when you come to the sign, the path bends hard left and loops back on the other side of the creek. Have fun!

Absolutely beautiful.

This is a great hike. Very strenuous going all the way to chain rock but worth it. Easy coming back down.

i think it should have a better sign when u come close to the end telling u how many miles it takes on the next trail. we did it today and instead of going up we went to the right snd ended up walking 10 miles. beautiful just inexpected.

The path is absolutely gorgeous! Walking along the stream adds so much to this hike!! Definitely watch your step though, it's mostly uphill/downhill.

There isn't really a trail?!

Easy trail for the whole family. Thick blanket of dead leaves on the trail so had to be carful with footing in places. Heard turkeys calling, but kids and dog so loud on trail there's no chance we would see anything.

Nice trail. Lots of great scenery. Spotted turkey along the trail. only drawback is walking the road back to the trail head parking area. Great rock formations made the hike even more enjoyable. We took some trail food, took our time and it took us about two hours to complete. Recommend for most everyone that hikes frequently.

Area is lovely and the campground is nicely maintained. However, in season, the boat ramp is busy and the locals can be obnoxious.

We cut a 2 night stay short after we had some drunken locals show up late and take the site diagonal from us. They literally stayed up until dawn banging around, yelling, drinking, playing loud music, having loud sex and WANDERING THROUGH OUR CAMPSITE. We know these were locals based on the tirade we received when we asked them to kindly keep it down at about 11:45 PM.

Rangers supposedly spoke to them in the morning after we complained, and assured us we'd have a quieter night -- but the troublemakers were still there, drinking again and raising a ruckus at noon on Saturday. We decided we were too tired to do any of our planned hiking trips, and realized our suburban Louisville backyard was actually more peaceful, so we packed up our gear, cut our trip a day short and drove back home.

small campground just off the main road in Somerset Ky. lovely spots for trailers or pop ups. some tent sites. electric and water. nice clean shower houses. pretty views of lake from most spots in the campground. A lot of sites are very close to the road. Come early. Nice base location to visit other lake activities. boat launching ramp conveniently located just before campground. Not space to park boat trailer and vehicle at your site though. or it looks like it would be difficult. No family activities on site when we were there but nice and tranquil

Although the brochures lead you to believe that the beauty of this trail is the section that parallels the Cumberland River, it is actually the significant rock formations that provide the awe of this trail. They are amazing!

We hiked this trail 1 week after the tornado, which resulted in a lot of flooding on the last section of the trail as the water had breached its banks significantly. This by no means put a damper on this hike. It was still great.

The weather was a warm, sunny 50 degrees and even in the shade no jacket was required. This is rated an easy trail which seems to be fairly accurate.
