Beautiful and warm April day! Zero ice or snow left on the trail and the trail was pretty dry. Great kickoff to some spring hiking!

Great day for a hike! No snow or ice on the trails. The gate was closed today so we had to park on the side and walk up Carriage Road to the beginning of the trail. It was about 1 mile on the Road so not bad. We took the Red Trail up to Belknap Tower which was a little muddy at parts but really not that bad. The views from Belknap Fire Tower were great! Then we took the White Trail to Old Piper trail. The overlooks were such amazing views. Another month will fill in tge foliage so well. Took the Piper Mountain(Res) Trail down to the bottom of Carriage Road.

Excellent traverse. Super well-marked and very well-preserved trails with stunning vista views. Fairly challenging for the first half with some strenuous vert climbing but the views were well worth the effort. Great time. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite hikes, since it's right down the street. If it's not first thing in the morning, avoid going up Watatic - too busy. Once you get out onto the Wapack, you're in the clear for a lovely hike.

A great workout on a beautiful early spring day. Snow/ice gone, no bugs yet, but warm enough to hike in short sleeves. Lots of ups and downs, some pretty serious climbs. Disagree with the reviewer who said this is moderate - this wouldn’t be good for grandparents or cranky tweens. I didn’t do the climb down to the far parking lot, didn’t seem necessary and my knees thanked me. Definitely take a right for the Cliffs (so that you go up - wouldn’t be fun going down).

Not busy at all. Saw 2 small snakes and a Turkey vulture. Nice trail if you live near by.

I don't care what anyone says, Monadnock is a butt-kicker. The "Hard" designation is well earned.

Hiked on Monday morning , I saw maybe ten people on the trail in total. A few muddy spots but you can easily get by. Did the mountain trail loop, it was nice to be out hiking. This is a fairly easy hike with nice views at the top. Climbed up the fire tower for even better views. Nice hike

After learning about the plane crash, and using the coordinates set out in the PDF linked below, I bushwacked an off-trail route through light forest for around 20 minutes to reach the site of the wreck. I've read of others taking alternative routes to reach the site, but I figured this approach required the least elevation gain through the forest. https://johngreenwood.net/Sunapee-History/1949_AT-6_Crash.pdf Much of today's early-April journey was negotiating either rocks, roots or frozen snow-pack which was pretty hard work for this long of a hike. Occasional ice had me take a careful, steady hike to avoid falls. There was virtually no snow on the bushwacking to the airplane. Really nice hike. Lake Solitude is picturesque. I also took a detour to the summit of Sunapee, but the ski resort was still operational and I didn't want to negotiate my way around the skiers.

I ended up going backwards from what the map told me, instead of walking up Carriage rd first, I took the closer trailhead. And im glad I did because walking on Carriage rd was the worst part. Other than that it was a great hike! Ended up going to Belknap Mountain from Piper via the White trail and it was a good time, great views!
