Beautiful hike.

This is a really great day hike if you live nearby and are off to a late start for the day. We came from neighboring Longmont and started the hike around 3. Got back to the car right after the sun went down. The creek is beautiful and it's really cool to see some local infrastructure at work. I highly recommend this hike.

Nice and easy hike. Found some trash along the way.

Easy and fun hike with the kid and the dogs.

Nice easy day hike.

One of the best places for a leisurely bike ride in Longmont. Not many people. It passes right by Golden Ponds, so that is a fun detour. On a still day, the ponds photograph really well with Longs Peak towering in the distance. The long stretches at the eastern end, right before the Weld County side, can be quite exposed and intimidating in the summer heat.

I have run here in every season and at every time of day. It is spectacular no matter what. The prairie dog colony on the back side of the lake is a fun addition. Great views of Longs Peak and the surrounding range.

Mostly flat and easy. Saw a few Bald Eagles.

low traffic, beautiful pines surround you, very peaceful, great for anyone

Beautiful hike with some stunning views. Very heavily trafficked especially on the road leading to the Sleepy Lion trail, but everybody kind of spreads out after that.

Nice hike along the lake.

Beautiful trail. Conditions were perfect today, a little windy near Homestead Meadow but otherwise great. Still a lot of flood debris that makes the trail interesting. Lots of different terrains. I thought it was a really interesting trail and the homestead at the end (about 1/4-1/2 mile up from the “end” of the trail, you can go farther to see more) was super cool. Parking lot was empty at 8:45 but pretty full by the time we left. Still spaces available. Just east of the meadow is the wreckage of a very old car near the creek!

made it through in stock 2013 suburban with some scarping. very challenging. had a great time.

Lovely walk.

Did this counterclockwise and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fascinating mix of super wide gravel road, steep rocky single track (moments of scrambling even) and a descent on long deteriorating asphalt. Views were great and dam, causeway and canyon walls fun to admire. Dogs off leash on the single track only (about 40%) but that worked for me.

Trail had a large amount of traffic on a Tuesday afternoon and some liter, other than that pretty good.
Great scenery, but no vistas. Trail follows Creek most of the way. Just okay viewing of fall foliage.
Lots of dogs off leashes which I don't mind. Trail is really in between easy and moderate.
Given the 70 minute one way drive, I would only come back if I had dogs with me.

Rock formations and soil color were beautiful. Not much shade.

easy trail. not much scenery. we did however see a beautiful elk today. I guess they are allowing hunters to come out between now and December and closing trail monday through weds. :( it's nice that it's not too far away. several dogs out even on a Friday morning no poop bags so be sure to bring your own.

Nice views but mainly service road hiking. Well marked and plenty of water for pooches. Nice designated off leash trails for the dogs.

This is a go-to trail, the only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that almost half of the trail is a dirt road, but there are beautiful creek views along the road. There’s a little bit of everything, shade, sun, flat, steep and great views. Bring sunscreen, the road has little shade.

Great views! Not easy to get lost. LOL. Very straightforward. There were some rocky and steep areas, but overall, it was great. My dog loved it! There weren’t too many folks in the early am. I loved the views and that it was close to town. Great! And def moderate.

Nice walk through the woods along the creek. Aspens were changing but not peak yet. Well maintained trail with lots of spots to sit and enjoy nature. Easy to find.

Beautiful trail. Well maintained and well marked with benches placed along the trail. As other reviews mentioned as a hiker you constantly have to step off of the trail for MTBs.

Pretty hike only 20 minute drive from Lyons.
Great views of reservoir and Longs Peak at the halfway point.
2.5 hours total.

This was such a beautiful trail the 2nd week in October! It was dry enough that the steeper inclines were easier and had enough debris to grip to. We took our pup with and she loved it too! So calming crossing the Little Thompson river.

This trail is amazingly isolated with incredible 360 views on Nugget Hill of Boulder, the Flatirons, Longs Peak, and the Indian peaks wilderness.

If the trail were more crowded, it would certainly get 3 stars. The rating I'm giving here reflects my personal experience, but it should be noted: the trail quality is absolute garbage for hiking. This is primarily a MTB/MTX trail, and it shows. It's not maintained, has VERY steep sections with screen and loose dirt, and is generally hard to navigate and not comfortable or especially stable.

However - the views at the end are incredible and you'll definitely escape the crowds here, so for me this one was great!

Lovely little trail, lots of fall color right now. Saw a few people but mostly had the trail to myself. Easy enough for my short-legged dog to tag along. I didn't see a lot of poop bags like others have complained about and found this trail to be very enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back and would bring out of state friends!

It was ok. Got there around 9am plenty of parking.
