Beautiful trail...great place for beginners to experience hiking.

Nice forest walk with well marked trails. Even my cat liked it.

Tougher than we thought it would be. Constant elevation gain. Nice trail though and it was fun to watch the paragliders taking off at the top.

Great well-maintained trail, fantastic views from the top.

This is a good Loop for beginning hiker.

extremely hard trail. very slick at points. not recommended for beginners. You can do it, but start early.

I was the only person Tues @ 6 AM. My GPS shows I walked about 3.5mi, in about 1.5hrs. The trail is a bit steep but not too challenging (for a moderately fit 25y/o, female) and well maintained.
There is no big view overlook but this trail makes for a lovely walk in the forest without having to drive too far from the city.

This hike was amazing, hands down my favorite one so far. The birds are everywhere and the trees were beautiful. Easy trail for anyone with very minimal elevation. The trails were marked well too. Great place!!

Short and sweet! I went on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon with my dog. Once we reached the water, it was a little crowded with people soaking up the Seattle summer sun but we still found a little shaded niche to admire before heading back up the north side.

Nice & easy.

I like this one because it's only about 20 minutes from my apartment, and it's enough to get a really good workout in the woods. Well marked trail, lush forested area... a fine place to walk it off! As a bounus - it connects to other trails all over the mountain, so you can cover a LOT of ground depending on how much time you've got to explore.

Beautiful - lots of trails!

Not easy to find the starting point. We went up to poo poo point from high school (3.8 miles) and returned via chirico trial (1.7 miles). Nice views of the area and mount Rainier. Also it was nice to see someone paragliding from poo poo point.

Nice trail with dogs, your dog can swim, fun :)

Great trail, seeing gliders glide was a good view

Even on an overcast day this was a great (easy) hike with a good payoff. The views of Baring Mountain and the lake were lovely.

Parking was full and there were lots-of other hikers, however we still found a solitary spot by the lake to rest, observe, and have a snack.

Hiked with 4 and 6 year olds who did this with ease!

Beautiful scenery/views!

Great little hike with friends. It was nice to see young family backpacking in for the night

Great hiking trails...

The hike itself wasn’t bad, nice incline and a great little work out. However, the view at the top wasn’t that great. Don’t get me wrong, it was still beautiful but not like some of the other views I have seen. Not bad at all, glad to say I did it but wouldn’t do it again.

Nice hike on 4th of July

Great, easy, family-friendly hike with a beautiful payoff (Barclay Lake and stunning views of the Baring Mountain peak).

Arrive early on nice days/weekends as there is limited parking
If you do arrive later in the day, be prepared to park down the hill and hoof it up the trail head (this might be the most strenuous part of the hike!)
There is a toilet at the trail head here, with another toilet about 3/4 of the way through the hike.

Hike this loop clockwise so you see the signs, as there are many smaller offshoots, though most are obviously just that. Only once or twice was there a confusing unmarked fork where we needed a map. The trail was lightly trafficked, with most people near the beginning or end of the trail where it overlaps with a shorter loop. The freeway road noise is strongest at the beginning and end of the loop, but it gets quiet at the back part of the loop. There was some horse poop here and there along the trail, but not an obnoxious amount.

great for kids

It’s more like a garden walk then a hike. It was nice and low key to just get out of the house.

great walk/hike in the city.

Nice and easy hike!

great trail but more difficult for out of towners to find the start of the trail

Not bad for a city park. Lighthouse was kind of pitiful

I took my three kids on these trails for the first time today and we had an amazing time! It was nice and long, without being so steep that they started complaining right away :) We will definitely be back often. It would be nice to have a real restroom rather than a port-a-potty, though...
