Lovely hike! Great couple hour rip. No spikes needed. Arrived at 8:45 was 6th car, down at 10:55 and 30-40 cars in lot. Glad I came early!

got to the trail head at 830. there was light rain but not much. the trail was in great shape. a few muddy spots but nothing that couldn't be worked around or walked through.

the falls were all especially strong today. the lower falls are great with a view of the middle falls in the distance.

the middle views are what you come for.

the trail to the upper falls is more difficult than the rest but nothing more than difficult moderate. the upper falls are great as well.

the valley overlook is also stunning.

I would recommend this trail for anyone looking for an easy hike/walk. Good for dogs and kids. It was quite muddy and there were 3 creek crossings of increasing difficulty. Nothing that takes a daredevil but your feet may get wet. The weather was great and the falls were beautiful!

Went with my best friend Monday afternoon around 3, took our time and ended up hiking back to car in the dark. Well worth it, just make sure you have flashlights or prepare unlike us and go earlier. I cant wait to go back when it’s warmer and go swimming.

Hiked on Sunday Jan 13. Arrived late around 10:30am and parked at high school. Not much to see on the way up - it’s a well-maintained trail with some traffic but not too crowded. Great workout, definitely on the moderate side as it gets steep 1/3 of the way in. The reward at the top is worth it - beautiful views surround you and everyone is basking in the sun and enjoying the scenery. Wonderful place to relax and eat lunch. Also saw a paraglider take off! Some parts of the trail were slightly muddy or had downed trees to climb over/under, but nothing strenuous aside from the climb up.

Awesome hike! Steep climb, but only a mile one way so totally doable. Took 40 minutes to get to the top. There were a few muddy patches, but no snow, so it’s still good conditions for January. It was super sunny today so the views were incredible. Highly recommend for an afternoon hike.

Such a nice hike! I packed extra layers & I’m so glad I did. They were needed at the top, once you stop moving it gets really cold, but the view is worth it!

We went on 1/11/19. Definitely need waterproof shoes on this one. You have to cross through quite a bit of water, not deep water. We didn’t have Microspikes and we were fine. I used trekking poles once we got to the icey part of the trail. When you get to the lake it is vey beautiful. The lake was almost completely frozen over. We had lunch at the top and it was very cold just sitting there. Hiking warmed you up, but when you stood still for too long it got cold fast. We did the loop around the lake and the snow was deeper there. Worth it to see all the angles of the lake. At the end my Fitbit said 5.50 miles. And yes, just like everyone else said the pot holes are bad on the way to the trail head. Just take your time driving and you’ll be fine. We saw all kinds of little cars that made it too.

Weather on the trail was perfect, no need for poles or yaktracks. The trail is super wore down and good for a person looking for a stroll or a family. The upper falls is worth the extra ~1 mi to the top. Also we started our hike at 8:30am and was completely alone most of the time, trail didn't start to get heavy with people until around 10:00.

Climbed this one in the winter. Definitely need a 4x4 and snow chains to make it to the TH. Recommended to have knowledge of avalanche safety for the winter route, as there are 3-4 hazardous areas of crossing. Overall, a fair bank for your buck.

Felt bad for parents with young kids lugging them over slippery rocks and muddy roots. Parents check conditions. You might be biting off more than you anticipated.

Great view. You might even catch someone jumping off!

Perfect short little hike. Super kid friendly.

Doing this hike again, after 5 years. This time we are doing it with Daughter, our 8mth old puppy and more friends. Going Saturday January 12th 2019. This will be the 3rd hike of the new year.☺

Plenty of parking, pretty muddy. But pretty

Hiked it this morning and the only issue was about 7-8 fallen trees from the wind storm on 1/6/19. Some of them are big enough that you can't crawl under them but you can barely go over!

The snow started about 2/3 of the way up and gets thicker and thicker, but the trail is fairly clear with just some muddy spots. Probably around 3-4 inches total once you're at the top. If you start at Issaquah High School you can see the school from the summit which is pretty great.

Only a handful of other people on the trail today!

We lucked out and didnt have any rain while we hiked, but if it did I can see a lot of spots were one might slip easily. The view from the top is totally worth it! We parked by the high school, but there is a max of 7 cars that can park there.

This is a great little trail for families and small dogs. its very short but still has a great view at the end.

Beautiful trail to hike in the winter! We went today on 1-6-19, it took about 3 hours for us to hike the trail (which included some breaks for pictures). There was some snow on the trail leading up to the lake, we brought microspikes in case but didn’t need them, it was mostly just wet (bring waterproof shoes!!). Once you reach the lake you feel like you are in a winter wonderland, it truly was stunning! Potholes galore on the road just before the trail head, please drive slowly and bring a high clearance vehicle if you can!

Trail is in good condition for winter, there are muddy and wet places but overall solid. The snow only starts about an 1/8th of mile from the lake but there are some slick, icy spots. Poles and micro spikes can't hurt but most people were fine without.

Very nice hike. Beautiful waterfall. The road is VERY bumpy, not recommended for small cars. Waterproof shoes are a must! Lots of down tress towards the end but if you're up for it you can get around them.

Hiked today (Jan-5, Sat), arrived around 11am, there is not much parking but was plenty of space today, not a high season. Trail is easy and in a pretty good condition, muddy sometimes, but nothing bad. Main challenge was the Hannan Creek crossing near the falls. There is a fork and loop on the second part of the trail, you can go left or right, both trails go to the falls. I took the left trail and that was a mistake, creek crossing on the left side was worse than on the right, it was not easy to cross without getting wet. There are some logs and rocks but pretty slippery and you have to jump. I wish I had my poles with me just for this crossing, left mine in the car for this easy hike.

My suggestion - take the right trail, there is a crashed car right after the fork, so you will know what place I am talking about. Creek crossing is smaller on this side and there is a big tree over it, which you can use for easy crossing. Then after the falls you can try the other side of the trail to go back, if you can’t make the crossing there, it’s not far at all to return and go back the same way. And, as I mentioned, poles will be helpful for creek crossing. Unless you are fine with wading through the creek and get wet.

little bit of snow spitting at the bottom but definitely sticking at the top. muddy in places but totally avoidable!

My dog and I arrived around 1pm on a Wednesday (January 2nd) and got back to the car at about 2:45pm. We're meandered and stopped a lot. Some switchbacks but nothing too strenuous. It's been dry for a couple days so there were hardly any wet parts of the path. In some places there was mud but still very doable (I was just in running shoes). A little snow just before the tower. The tower gave me sweaty palms, but what an incredible view from the top! We only ran into 3 pairs of hikers during our trip. I may not go again but really enjoyed it while we were there.

Short hike with a beautiful view at the end. The switchbacks suck and conditions are pretty muddy but the payoff at the end is great. A little snowy towards the top and the stairs to the lookout can be icy. Highly suggest going on a clear day to fully experience the mountains around you.

Such a gorgeous trail all through. One can hear the sound of river pretty much from the entire trail. the views of water gushing on the rocks and the waterfalls are to unbelievable! Middle falls are the most pretty but lower falls are quite a beauty too. Upper falls has a much steeper climb but not the views as impressive as middle or lower. Also if you go to upper falls, the total trail length is 5.5 miles. I think the 4.4 miles mentioned in the description is only till middle falls. But Valley overlook point is beautiful, after middle falls and before upper. The trail condition is very good. Various bridges, stairs and paved paths all through the trail. Hiking poles were such a savior. the climb is steep on this trail, so if you can take the poles, please do!

As mentioned in the previous reviews, the road leading to the trailhead parking has some big potholes. The trailhead was fairly packed by the time we reached there around 11 AM. The trail is rocky, muddy and icy. Microspikes definitely help in the last 1 mile of this hike as some areas had ice on rocks which was tricky to pass through. Took us 2 hours for whole hike including staying there up there for a couple of minutes and doing the loop around the lake. Overall, a really good hike. The lake looks beautiful!

Great hike on a beautiful and maintained trail. Being that it was New Year’s Day and free day at state parks we were still lucky enough to find parking.

We had some sunshine and a bit of blue skies. We saw a lot of cool fungus.

Hiked with our two kiddos, ages 5 and 7. The ranger station has a fun scavenger hunt to complete.

A perfect day to start off the New Year 2019, gorgeous views, perfect day to hike...conditions were awesome.
