This was my first time EVER off roading and I am so proud of myself for completing it in my stock '17 Jeep Rubicon at NIGHT (sunglasses drop). It was both fun and scary at times, an amazing experience. I learned so much on this trail and I can't wait to go back.

Super beautiful - went around 2pm on a weekday; saw a few people at the start of the spur cross trail then no-one until I hit boca grande wash and dragonfly loop. Goes without saying but watch for snakes! Saw a rattler near the start of spur cross trail. Upper dragonfly trail may be my new favourite section in spur cross - you feel like you're on a different planet. Very easy elevation changes but long enough overall for an ok workout. Lots of water for my dog to splash around in down in the loop so she may have a new favourite loop hike too. If you're a creeker and haven't done so already go to town hall and pay your $1 for your annual spur cross pass.

We really enjoyed this trail. The huge amount of large saguaros was breathtaking. No road noise. Trails very well marked. We went on a cool day (64 degree high) and there was a breeze, so that made this almost easy. We also loved the amount of benches to stop and take it all in, take a water break, have a snack. The only reason this isn't rated as a 5 is the large amount of loose rocks on both the ups and the downs. Wear good hiking boots, and bring your sticks!

Quiet hike on a Thursday afternoon in November. I honestly feel as though I am the only person on the planet right now...ahhhhhh...

Especially beautiful when water is present in Cave Creek. A great variety of shady and sunny trails and scenery.

Beautiful and hard hike. The AllTrails rating of ‘moderate’ is incorrect. The trailhead has it rated as ‘extremely difficult’ which is correct. Lots of steep climbs and it is fairly long 6.8 miles. But incredible views and happened upon a rattlesnake and a king snake. Bottomline, leave early, no dogs for sure due to terrain and difficulty, and be in shape!

Superbly awesome 4x4 trail. Did it in a 1970 Land Rover 100 Series and had no problems at all. We did have to stack rocks a few places due to the amount of rain we've had but I enjoy that part :) Be sure to not miss the hard right on FR192!

Beautiful hike with awesome views, I would consider this hike closer to easy in intensity. It was also heavily trafficked at times with many being novice hikers.

Kind of steep and very rocky. Watch your footing. Beautiful views.

Beautiful sweeping 360-degree views. Since moving to Peoria from Scottsdale where I would hike on Pinnacle Peak Trail, I now have my go-to neighborhood trail here.

Nice short hike with a rocky trail and moderate elevation gain. Clear day, could see downtown Phoenix.

very difficult in places in a sxs

Went after the storm, the creek was running and the hiking was a completely different experience. Highly recommend before the creek dries up

Great easy trail. My 4 and 5 year old do it with no issues.

Nice moderate trail to do in about an hour.

I went to East Wing following a quick hike at Calderwood Butte. About half the trail is pretty easy and not particularly interesting, but once you get to the trail marker and have to choose which direction to ascend, things get more interesting. I choose the difficult path up as coming down the mountain is always the harder task for me. I'm glad I made that choice. The difficult path up was actually a lot of fun. The views from the summit were pleasant and the path down had some interesting views. This site measures the trail at 1.5 miles, my FitBit clocked it in at 2.0-2.5 miles, so I must have gotten off track at some point.

Calderwood Butte is a simple hike. I enjoyed the cactus on the way up, and the rocks are a real pretty red. I don't think it's marked particularly well (or at all? I can't remember). I went to the summit in about twenty minutes and then tried to loop around for added distance. Well, I ended up so off-trail that I got dumped into the back of a residential neighborhood and had to walk through the neighborhood to get back to my car. It wasn't anything worth really coming back to.

Great trail to hike with some nice views.

Did this trail with a bunch of friends. Had a great time but they had done it before so they were going quite fast. I would have taken my time to smell the roses more. It was a great trail and some parts would be challenging for stock vehicles. I will be going again and plan on camping in the pines with my family.

Nice trail, good parking area. I did the “non difficult “ trail first, and then came down the difficult part. Beautiful views. Nice trail

This is my favorite trail in Maricopa County. The views are varied and spectacular. A nice combination of desert and forest-like scenery. At one point you cross the creek in Cave Creek, but it has been dry all summer. Best of all, plenty of shade along the Dragonfly Loop.

We did this trip up and back in my RZR in May after some rain, 56 miles round trip, there were a few difficult spots but take you time and you will do fine. Excellent ride, all kinds of terrain. Can't wait to do it again!

My mom (58) and I (39) do this hike on a regular basis because it is a great mixture of challenge and amazing views. Be sure to have some cash ready when getting to the park as there is a entrance fee. Pick up the park map and decide which of the trails you are up for. Right now there is no water in the creek but we have seen it flow a couple of times in the beginning of the year. Make sure to have enough water as there are no stations anywhere on the trail but they do have multiple benches where you can sit down and rest if needed. The trail is not heavily trafficked and you can hear and see wildlife all around you. Watch for rattlesnakes! I highly recommend good hiking shoes as the terrain is very rocky and slippery at times. This is a great hike for anyone that is in good physical shape.

I did this one in June 2018..it was a 106F and it was a test of my endurance and will power, but it made me take up serious hiking..you need to be in good shape to do this in the heat. I went through 2 gallons of water , 4 bananas, 2 energy bars and 2 cans of bloody mary mix doing this and I was absolutely beat by the time I was done..

I decided to go clockwise starting at the Slate trailhead, then heading north on the Jasper Trail to the Go John Trail and finishing up on the Quartz and Slate trails. Started at mid-morning when it already was hot. There is no shade so bring plenty of water. The trails are well maintained and clearly marked. It is impossible to inadvertently go off-trail. Nice scenery along the way, except for the Slate Trail which is kind of boring. Admission fee to the park is now $7.

We did this trail back in Easter Sunday with My stock 2011 Xterra Pro 4x. Never got stuck, but the trail was very challenging. I was in 4 low most of the time and had to use my rear lockers once. I would love to do it again. It took about 4 hours to complete.

Definitely challenging if you hike all the way to the summit and back. I brought 2 liters and 2 bottles of water and I ran out 1/3 of the way back down. So be prepared! Don't try making it to the summit during the summer, during the afternoons it becomes super hot and there's little to no shade on the hike. Great hike though White Tanks!

Love the Vistancia Discovery Trail, beautiful mature desert landscaping, wildlife, lots of picnic areas and an exercise area.
