This is not the sort of hike where you’ll see stunning mountain vistas, but for what it is - more of an urban hike- it’s lovely. It’s full exposure, so spring or fall is the perfect time for it. The view from sunset point is pretty incredible as you can see most of the Salt Lake valley, the Great Salt Lake, and into Davis and Weber Counties. This could not be more fitting for small children as the incline is gradual and only 2 miles to do the shortcut route. The trail is well marked and well-maintained. Would do this again for a short hike with great city views.

Great view of salmon run

Nice hike along a waterfall, be careful it’s easy to fall in! Wish there were more pictographs.

Great easy little trail. Well maintained & lots of signage. I wasn't expecting so much of the view to be of houses and a golf course, but the trailhead is at the top of a large subdivision.

Challenging trail especially in the snow because some areas aren't very packed so you end up knee deep or more. Most people choose the Red Pine Trail over this one because it's a little shorter and a little less steep. This one is more peaceful because there were no other hikers just two skiers. I'll definitely try this one again when everything is thawed out more.

Very pleasant hike! The slope is pretty gentle all the way to Elehpant Rock. There was quite a bit of fresh now on the ground on 3-18 but the trail was easy without the need for microspikes.

I snowshoe and hike this trail all year long...it’s usually pretty crowded and sometimes tough for mountain bikes to squeeze past the hikers. That said, I love the location, the ease of parking and getting right on the trail and the scenery. Elephant Rock isn’t the best reward after a long hike but it’s a great workout.

Wow! The views on this trail are 5 Star views. The slippery snow on the trail and the few spots of mud made this hike SUPER hard for my 9 and 11 year old with special needs. And the effort I had to put in to ensure they didn’t fall made this one of the longest 1.7 miles of my life. My 15 year old flew over the same footing. But even with the slipping and sliding, we loved this hike. So beautiful! I can only imagine how pretty it would be at other times of the year.

Loved this trail. Lots of beautiful scenery, and in late July the wildflowers were even more beautiful than the mountains! Ran into a moose sitting in the middle of the trail! It’s a bit of a challenge, but incredibly worth the effort!

I enjoyed the hike, easy but challenge enough for someone that is starting to hike. Beautiful view of the Valley and the mountains in the North East.. It was a little muddy but nothing really bad.

We got on the trail around 9 AM...only a few other cars in the parking lot. Trail is/was mostly visible due to previous skiers/snowshoers. Attempted to follow trail using AllTrails App, ended up cutting fresh trail for a while. Didn't make it the whole way up because the weather changed and snow was falling pretty hard. Visibility was low at points. Will be attempting again in a month or so.

I have been hiking here for 3 years now. It's pretty easy to get to from the intersection of 11th Ave and B street. The hike is basically of 2 portions. The first one is a little over 3 miles and ends at the water treatment plant. The road is wide and the trek is not very steep at all. The second portion is about 2.5 miles and it starts at the water treatment plant. It's covered in snow during winter. The road is narrower and some steep drop offs on the right while going up. Some portions are a little steep but very manageable. The third portion of this hike is a dirt road which starts when you reach the end of the 5.5 mile hike. There are signs to be aware of cougars and bears. I have done this only once and I must say it's a little spooky. The stream runs right next to the dirt road and there is hardly anyone on this road. I must have walked about 3 miles and turned back but you can go further.

Decent place to walk a dog or take in views of Bountiful McMansions. The destination is a medium sized boulder with a view of the oil refinery. Also busy. Mountain bikers year round.

So great to have a paved trail into a pretty canyon in the winter! We walked up past mile marker 2 and really enjoyed the icy creek and beautiful mountains—and the quiet so close to downtown! The kids (15, 11, 9, and 7) all said they want to come back and do this hike again during other seasons.

Beautiful hike. The beginning was easy over packed snow and little to no ice. Never used spikes, but used hiking poles which really helped with the second half of the hike as the trail became steeper and more snow. We made it about 4 miles in and turned around before the lake. The trail diverted into a few different paths but we kept post holing and decided to turn around.

Trail alternated between ice and mud (mostly ice) but that’s not the fault of the trail. I fell on my butt once and slipped a lot (poor choice of boots for winter conditions, my bad). Trail was easy enough and had a nice mix of scrub forest and salt lake valley views. There are a few lookout points with metal benches along the trail as well. I went on a Wednesday afternoon at about 2-3pm and there was nobody else, which was great for my first solo off leash dog hike. The trailhead has a parking lot, a small park with a pavilion a playground, and bathrooms. I’ll be back!

Great easy hike with amazing views. Lots of parking and dogs ok off leash. You can do the 2 mile Wild Rose loop or extend to 3 miles via the Chukara loop. Trails are well maintained and very well marked.

Great views, but busy. Don’t go Tuesday mornings around 6am or you’ll run into about 45 high school kids from several local mountain biking clubs on the trail.

First hike here and I loved it! I was getting pretty tired but passing hikers/runners gave me motivation to keep going!

Really nice hike. Lots of people and lots of mountain bikers though.

One of the most beautiful hiking trails I've ever been to. It's rated as hard, but I don't agree. I would consider it as moderate. I highly recommend it!
