I loved this trail . Worth everything. Bring snacks and water . It’s downhill to get to the waterfall but be warned it’s all uphill with incline going back . There are rest benches and rocks if kids come along

Waters was flowing nicely in the falls today. Mountains were green, which is unusual. Good day to hike. Four stars instead of 5 just due to this trail always being a bit crowded.

Heavy traffic, but very pretty area. there are multiple stream crossings right now, so water shoes of some sort are a must!

Loved the amazing waterfall! Wear good hiking shoes. We had to cross the stream a few times over slippery rocks and our feet got a little wet, but we still loved every minute of it!

Heavy traffic! Long hike down hill. Nice view , lots of water in the creek. You need hiking stick especially crossing the creek back and forth..

Amazing hike to Potato Chip Rock, the wait wasn’t bad. People were very good about trading phones for pictures , if you took their picture , they would wait for your group to go out to the rock and take your picture. Some people complain about the wait, it’s not bad especially if you work as a team.

The trail was awesome! It rained all last week so there was lots of water in the creek and falls. The water made it a bit tricky, but it was worth it to see a waterfall in this area. Glad I wore waterproof hiking shoes.

Pretty difficult hike for clumsier people. There Are a lot of rocks to climb and jump off. If you’re shorter that may present a difficulty. The trail meanders a lot so it seems like you’re jumping from side to side a lot. You will have to eventually get your feet wet so plan accordingly. Don’t forget your socks like I did -_- came 3 days after the heavy rains we got on 1/15/19. Mud is still really slippery, and the rocks themselves are slippery too. Saw a lot of dogs so it is dog friendly. Be prepared for a long hike it took about 4 hours round trip.

Beautiful 360 views. We saw snow cap mountains and lush greens. The hike to the peak via Little Canyon is mostly uphill. On the way back, the trail directs you to go to Easy Street - don’t be fooled by the name. It took us about 3.5 hours with a break on the way to the Peak.

Enjoyed seeing the waterfall, but this trail is just too crowded! Crowds made me feel like I was at Disneyland. The recent rain made for a lot of stream crossing and I often had to wait in line just to cross the stream because there were limited places with lower water levels. One woman even yelled at my kids when they crossed a stream out of turn.

Hiked Painted Canyon and the Ladders Trail yesterday. The road signs say 4WD vehicles only, but we drove two 2WD vehicles (one small sedan and a mini van). The road was soft and sandy in a few spots, but we had no problem driving to the trail head. There were other 2WD cars parked at the trail head as well.

The ladders were all in excellent shape. Just one ladder had one broken rung. Thank you volunteer trails workers.

Great easy trail

Amazing, luckily I was there while the park is closed so not many people there. :)

Due to government shutdown you have to park down the hill by the nursery. This adds 2 miles to the hike. Right now because of the heavy rain last week the water is really flowing and so beautiful! There are many stream crossings to get to the waterfall so be ready to get your feet and lower legs wet. We hiked with our dogs and children and it was a great time! Very beautiful hike and i highly recommend going soon to see this volume of water.

Beautiful hike, gave it only 4 stars because there was a ~45 min wait to climb potato chip rock for a picture.

Great Trail, Clean and well defined. Just hiked it today and the water fall is running. Take good hiking shoes rocks are slippery at the Fall! Great place to eat and make the trek back. It got crowded quick so go early to enjoy the place. If you have a dog leave him at home !!! They crowd the falls area even more, nothing worst than wet dog, dog poop in the area you want to enjoy. The trek back is strenuous! Bring plenty of water!

It was beautiful but now it’s noisy and trashy! Put earbuds on... not everyone wants to hear ur crappy music!! The sounds of nature are so much better than whatever ur blasting from ur phone. Please take ur trash with u when u leave!!!

Great waterfall hike!! Easy 1 mile to Falls from camp ground. If u park in upper lot & take trail down it’s an extra 1.5 miles RT. Also lots of shade. Has options to add more miles on upper trailhead. Sunset Ridge can go on for miles...

Love this hike!! Beautiful views of the mountains & lots of shade on the lower canyons. If u go in the fall the colors are amazing ❤️

We are planning on going on MLK day and would like to know the condition of canyon Rd. Especially with the rain fall we received for the past few days. We planning on taking a 2WD. Thanks.

relaxing and fun trail.

Fairly easy hike, was able to do this with my 4 year old daughter and wife no problem. Tons of folks out there on Sunday 1/13/19. not a quiet hike, but enough space on the trail for everyone. Hardest parts are just crossing streams here and there on the way to and from the waterfall, very doable for all ages and dogs are allowed too !

It is a short distance hike. There was plenty of water but due to recent rain, the water was muddy and dark brown. Sad to see the graffiti.

Easy trail to follow. Was pretty slippery and muddy when we got down into the falls entrance. People were friendly. Trail was clean. Would do it again. Easy one for the dog too. :)

This hike was incredible. We had 4 wheel drive and had no problem getting down painted canyon road. All of the ladders we encountered were metal and pretty sturdy, except for the occasional broken rung. Definitely worth the climb for the amazing views.

Park at Quarry and begin your route. It is not the best marked but when you start stay along the riverbed and turn toward the red rock. Lots of people to follow and nice hike.
Do not be fooled there are lots of rocks and other items to scamper over and at the top you will have to scamper to the end. The view is cool. Worth the time.

Beautiful views with waterfall!

Was on the trail yesterday and the road is in excellent condition. If you stay on the main road and don't go off onto the sandy off shoots on the road you will not need a 4 wheel drive. The trail is in excellent condition however none of the ladders are bolted down any longer so you may want to have fellow hikers hold the ladder steady as you ascend or descend. The ladder at mile 2 which is the last one before you emerge up from the lower canyon is in bad shape. One of the middle rungs has broken through and ladder is swaying sideways from metal fatigue. I suspect this will need to be replaced very soon other wise you will have to turn back as there is no way to circumnavigate this area. Once you emerge out of the canyon and descend into the lower wider canyon there are lots of flowers and great views of the massive canyon walls. On the last 2 down climb ladders the last ladder is in poor condition. The last 2 rungs are blown out and most of the other rungs look like they could go anytime. Proceed with caution on that one! other than that the trail is amazing and in good condition. Highly recommend!
