A good simple hike with a cool waterfall at the end that's close by.
Great quick hike with tons of small trails along the way that leads down to the river.
Visited on a cloudy, Monday afternoon. There were still a handful of people on the trail, crowded hiking trails aren’t my thing, but it’s very common with Auburn SRA. Parking is limited on the weekdays, and very limited on weekends if you arrive later in the day. Overall the hike is moderate, but there are some strenuous uphill parts. But, seeing the clementine dam and hiking under the tallest bridge in California is definitely a unique experience that’s worth it!
Good trail, very few river access points, very few people on this trail.
Great moderate-difficulty hike! I saw lots of trail runners, so if that’s your thing, this trial seems good for that. Pros: -I felt comfortable hiking alone because there was a consistent amount of people all along the trial. -Lots of ups and downs, so it doesn’t get monotonous. -Covers different elevations, so the plants/rocks/soil change. -Lots of gorgeous views of the river!! And a pretty waterfall! -Bathroom and porta-potty at either end of the out and back trail. Be aware: -Partial shade, so bring a hat for those exposed parts of the trail. -Some parts are muddy/stream crossing so wear appropriate shoes. -Parts of the trail are not well-marked (especially on the way back), so pay close attention of which fork you take and how to get back the way you came.
Too easy to get lost. This trail wasn’t as bad as the other ones connected to it but the signs are terrible! 3 other people yesterday got lost on the trail too. Rescue had to come and still couldn’t find one of the people. Apparently people get lost on these trails over here a lot.
Very long trail with beautiful views! The unisex bathrooms were open again but no soap at the sink, bring your own sanitizer! Most difficult part of the trail is the way back up towards the parking lot, so be sure to bring a lot of water since it is pretty steep. Most of the trail is pretty shaded. Will be returning!
Interesting hike. Conveniently located literally right off of I80. We picked up the trailer from inside the Weimar Institute and I thought being so close to the freeway we would hear it, but once on the trail it was very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful manzanita forest. The trail does pass an old sanitarium cemetery with short wooden markers to mark fairly unmarked graves. Some of the fencing is down. I wish I’d taken a picture for better reference, but just be careful to not enter the cemetery by mistake. There are also sewage treatment ponds along the trail at the beginning.
We really enjoyed this trail! Beautiful views, and well maintained park/trails. There was a lot of wild animal poop (I’m assuming mountain Lion because of the warning signs at the trail head), but the trail was wide enough to maneuver around it. The bathrooms at the trailhead were closed, but there were 2 porta potties on the trail. It was a perfect day for this trail, high 50s, and clear skies. We went in the afternoon on Tuesday 2/16 and we only saw a few other groups of people. The trail was mostly gravel, but a short section was more narrow, and dirt. The dirt section was a little uneven but not difficult, just watch your step, as there are rocks sticking up out of the ground. This was an easy hike with only slight changes in elevation, and a perfect first hike after fracturing my foot in October!
Great trail ... lots of mud and puddles and a few stream crossings due to recent rains tut nothing that squashed the fun!
Nice view while hiking
Dog almost attacked it was not on a leash. Trails were marked at all. It was beautiful
The scenery was beautiful. So many trees and the lake is beautiful. The trail is sometimes narrow but mostly wide. Lots of people.
Great trail, dog friendly
absolute beautiful trail, very clean. there was a mix of dirt bikers, horse back riders and hikers. the weather was perfect. I started off on the poppy trail going to the hidden falls overlook then took the seven pools trail that linked back to the parking lot. it was a total of 5 miles. highly recommend this trail. I can't wait to go back and explore some more
