Great trail! Well maintained, wide & mostly smooth. It is shaded much of the time. Spectacular views all around.
Wide trail, mostly shaded with beautiful views. Some lose gravel at the top so walk carefully.
This trail leads up to the blocky decommissioned cold war radar tower that is visible from anywhere in the south bay. I got there about 9 AM on a Sunday and the parking lot was already full, so I drove up to the top and did the reverse hike. Well built, narrow dirt and gravel trail with plenty of signs. Very busy, spent more time with my mask on than off. Shaded the whole way, lots of switchbacks so it's not too steep. Bathrooms at the top and bottom. I took a timelapse of my hike: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvQioUVv7nQ
Hike was great, a lot of shaded areas and it was pretty crowded with other hikers and bikers. We parked at the top and did the down and up loop for almost an 8 miles hike. Views are great.
I was a great trail. My phone died before the way back so it only recorded half of the hike. The incline is gradual. the views are amazing.
Moderate hike. Lots of shade. Gradual climb up to summit. Easy going back down. Trails are well kept. Many sign posts showing which way to turn. Pit toilets at parking lot and at the summit lot. Didn't see much flowers, but plenty of greenery. No problem parking at Bald lot. Went on a weekday which is better. Advise to arrive early. Not too many folks on trail.
Great hike, mostly all shade. Amazing views at the summit. Not a lot of parking space. Restrooms available.
Great
Beautiful hike, shaded most of the way.
I arrived at 8:30am and couldn't find parking at Bald Mountain Parking lot. I had to drive up near the top of Mount Umunhum for more parking. My hike elevation was a V shape instead of a /\ shape. View at the top is spectacular. Hike itself was average. In and out. Lots of switch backs. I did both Mount Umunhum and Bald Mountain, which is why my recording is 10 miles.
Nice hike!
Not really a challenging trail, but views from the top are amazink
The first 4 miles are a steady incline switchback, nothing too steep but you are working. The views are gorgeous. The parking is tough so it’s early or late to go.
Trail was straight to the point. The peak is beautiful! Out and back around 8 miles total. Hardly any parking spots though, maybe 10. Carpool is a MUST.
Did it on a weekday and yet, parking was full by 10. I happened to do this hike when it had snowed the previous day and it was absolutely amazing!! Trail is great.. well marked and just wide enough. Shaded for the most part with beautiful views of the South Bay. Gentle uphill all the way.. loved it. My tracker recorded 8.3 mile..
We went the day after a storm rolled through the area. There was snow! Pretty freaking cold but we were fine with jackets. The snow didn’t impede travel. A nice long hike with a gradual incline. Come early to snag parking.
Beautiful hike! Small parking lot so get there early. Shaded most of the way with a nice gradual incline. Would be great for a trail run!
Good, shady trail.
