Wow. Lots of beautiful flowers. I found a couple of showy orchids and dwarf irises are in abundance throughout the entire trail. I never found moonshine falls but I did get sidetracked on natureland trust trail. Beware!!! It gets steep and treacherous. If you take a left at the stacked rocks it’s a pink blazed trail that goes up to the base of Caesars Head.
There is also a route to the bottom of raven cliff falls. I will definitely be back to see this as I have walked the dismal trail 2 times and enjoyed it thoroughly. I am looking forward to the trip to the base of the falls.

Great hike...great falls. Perfect for a relaxing hike for the family!

I absolutely loved this trail. The lead up to the waterfall was awesome. It needs a little maintenance though. Rocks definitely need to be placed in the crossings between the fields. I took both parents, who are 70, and I have to say, my mom did not like crossing the fallen logs. The waterfall was beautiful and I really enjoyed climbing the moss covered rocks to get pictures. I will definitely do this hike again and explore a little more. This is one of my favorite waterfalls so far and I’ve been to a lot of falls!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Nice easy hike with a few turn offs to some attractions. Misty Cove was a bit weak, but Cascade Falls & Asbury Falls were worth it! Watch out after the cable crossing. Asbury is a red trail, then turns to double pink. Trail at this point wasn’t marked well and no signs. Not sure if I was headed into Caesar Head Parks Dismal trail loop or still on Asbury? Good trail for dogs but may have to find a shallow river crossing for them.

Beautiful waterfall! There are a few places that you have to cross the creek on rocks. Not a huge deal but something that would be better in warm weather. The falls were absolutely beautiful. The trail was clean and marked. We will definitely be headed to see them in the summer!

I did this hike on Sunday, March 4th, my second time doing this hike, the weather was great! TI really enjoyed this trail. It is an easy hike with a beautiful waterfall. Huge boulders all covered in moss. The waterfalls falls into a gorge. We had just had rain last week so there was plenty of water at the falls. I got some great photos which I have uploaded.
After passing thru the gate you will go hike thru 4 wildlife fields. There are several creek crossings. The first creek crossing there are no rocks so expect to get your shoes wet. All of the other crossings there are rocks or tree limbs for crossing. After the 4th field the trail is in the right corner of the field. The trail is not marked and there are several more tributary of Tamassee Creek along the way. At one tributary the tails goes left and less traveled trail to the right, "be sure to go left and cross the creek". Be sure to stay left of the creek, whenl you get within 300 - 400 feet of the falls, at this point you have to pick your way thru the rocks and boulders to get closer to the falls. Be sure that you are on the left side of Tamassee Creek to get to the falls.

Directions from Travelers Rest, SC -- from SunRift Adventure parking lot, travel on 276 to Hwy 11
Go 44.7 miles from Sunrift until you turn right onto Cheohee Valley Road

from Cleveland SC US Post office you will travel another 34.9 miles
from the Moorefield Memorial Hwy/Hwy 11 intersection you will travel another 19 mile
At Cheohee Valley Road there is a brown sign on the left side of Hwy 11 that says Piedmont Forestry Center, SC Forestry Commission.

Turn right onto Cheohee Valley Road.
Go 2.1 miles and turn left on Tamassee Knob Road
Drive another 0.50 miles and turn right on Jumping Branch Road
Then another 1.5 mile to the second dirt/gravel road, it is not marked but you want FS715A
Go approximately 0.7 miles to a dirt parking area on the right just before a concrete bridge. You will see the gate and fields.
The path immediately goes into the field past the gate.

Have fun!

Beautiful waterfalls

Not a good trail for dogs! Could not cross the cable bridge with a dog.

Beautiful waterfall! Fun trail to run.

Really enjoyed the trail. Couple of really narrow spots made it a little more challenging with our dogs. Only downside was people walking with their dogs without a leash or collar at times and would run up on our dogs which made our dogs a little nervous.

Fairly used trail. I went during the week and saw more people than expected. The falls are really nice and provide a nice area to hang out and get away from the summer heat.

Great hike and really well marked/groomed. It's not an easy hike, but I wouldn't call it moderate either. It has a few steeper sections, but nothing that is overly challenging. The hike to the falls is approximately 35 mins or so. We did this hike on Thanksgiving Day morning and were pleasantly surprised to see the amount of activity on the trails that morning.

Enjoyed this trail. Not marked at all. Must use this app to find it. Can easily take a wrong trail at one of the stream crossing. If you stay on the app you will have no problem. Very remote and private. We were the only ones their. The water fall is beautiful. Does require climbing up rocks to get to the falls. Would recommend boots as you do cross several streams. But worth the hike. It’s about an hour each way.

Easy to moderate hike depending on the level of experience. We spent about an hour and a half getting out to the falls, as we moved quickly because we were running short on daylight. The falls are very photogenic, and the trail was well maintained.

Great hike! Beautiful falls!

A moderate hike on Christmas day. 4 miles in 3 hours at a leisurely pace and lunch at the waterfall. The trail is well maintained and clearly marked. There are small streams to cross by leap, rock, log or bridge which break up the long walk. Diverse views and an amazing waterfall make it a favorite.

In late fall, this hike wasn't that visually stunning, but the waterfall makes up for it. So many ledges and drops! It's beautiful and you could take a million pictures from every angle if you are so inclined. I'd call the hike easy, heading to moderate, depending on how quickly you take it.

Awesome waterfall. Good distance hike to it but it’s very easy.

A good easy 2 hour hike there and back. Have to jump the stream in a few places but completely doable. Very beautiful and calming wanted to stay longer but getting close to sundown. Will revisit this one with the kids for sure.

This is by far my favorite hike so far. (I'm a newbee) It is a moderate hike and it does not loop around therefore you will hike back the same way. It could be a little wet and slippery but definitely worth it. You will come across about three small Bridges and maybe three small Rapids to hop over. we took a backpack and enjoyed lunch at the bottom of the rocks on the fall and appreciated the sound of the waterfall and nature. I really enjoyed this hike and recommended to everyone.

Great hike, nothing too strenuous. Hardest part was crossing the cable bridge because I was afraid I'd fall. Moonshine falls was nice.

Beautiful hike in the fall. It was a bit wet and slippery in places but the trail is well marked and has lots of diversity. I would not call it easy but more moderate but a very nice hike. The waterfall at the end was beautiful and worth the effort. We would do this again.

Nice trail. A little narrow towards the falls end. Forest Service is sometimes a little slow at trail maintenance, bit overall they do a good job. Nice set of falls at the end, and a beautiful place to sit and eat a snack.

Beginner/intermediate level of hiking. Pretty Falls. Heavily trafficked.

Love this walk!! The waterfall is amazing, but maybe not quite as breathtaking as some others in the region. Definitely in the top 5 or 6 in terms of beauty. HOWEVER, the hike in is wonderful! Just did this for the second time in two weeks...because I wanted to go back with other friends.

What make the hike so nice? Variety, lots of variety!! The trail starts and follows a cute stream and goes through a very "rainforest" type of environment. Then you cross a creek a few times (easily), meander along some high slopes, cross some wooden bridges, little uphill, little downhill, some flat sections, pretty mountain views through the trees, some steps, some narrow areas, and at the end - a beautiful waterfall! And lots of rocks to climb on at the base if you're up for it!! And very, very dog-friendly.

Although there is plenty of up and downhill... we never found ourselves out of breath or needing any kind of break.

One of our favorite hikes in the area so far!!

Fun trail to test your land nav knowledge. I may have seen one blue flag during this entire trail. Would recommend for anyone looking for a slight challenge and great nature
