This .6 mile hike into Ripley’s Fall is so worth the journey. There are a lot of rocks and roots to traverse. The path is narrow in places and it was a little wet in places (we went in Sept, probably is very wet in Spring). The granite face of the falls is amazing, creating more of a water slide then falls. The slab is wide so I would imagine in the Spring it’s even more grand.

Loved the views at the top. Recovering from knee surgery but this was doable with hiking poles and a brace and lots of rest stops. I should have worn hiking boots instead of sneakers!

I absolutely loved this hike ! At times it was challenging but not overly so . I really recommend approaching from this side !

Trail was super easy to navigate and it didn’t take long at all to reach the base of the falls. A little more climbing brings you to the top where I was able to sit with my dog and enjoy the views and the sound of the rushing water. Would totally recommend for any skill level!

This trail was so much fun for our family to hike! The perfect amount of a challenge for our 5 and 7 year olds, and the waterfall is beautiful! The kids had a ball walking and splashing in the water.

Excellent parking situation even on a very busy Saturday when all other popular spots in the Notch are overflowing into the shoulders of I93. This trail is nothing too special but does offer an easy trail walk with nice access points to Profile lake to watch fish and put your feet in with good views of mtns opposite. Would recommend pairing this walk with the short trail down to the Old Man profile viewing area which originates from the same parking lot and has lots of literature and two exhibits. Bathrooms available on site too.

Amazing views. Went to see the sunset and was not disappointed. Would definitely do this hike again!

Nice views from the top of surrounding mountains, about 1 h 15 min up on a warm day.

Went hiking with my girlfriend for our anniversary, and she fell in mud, slipped on the way back landing on her butt, and got a really good workout. So all in all, it was a really good day. Long hike for sure, and the lake is pretty small, but really nice.

Great hike. Took two dogs one older and they both made it up. but definitely challenging. Many rocks and some steep inclines. The hike had some challenging parts but since it was a cooler day and dry it was fun! Loved the view from the top. Parking filled up fast to go early. They also have good bathrooms since it’s also the camp site but no trash for the dog poop.

The Greely Pond in & out was steep and brutal but overall a rewarding trek. The first mile is flat but that quickly changes to a progressively more difficult quad grinder as the trail separates at the first fork. From the split, you will hike up approx. 1.5 miles of HARD, relentless elevation gain that yields to a more moderate traverse into Osceola and back. There are minimal views from E Osceola. Your hard work is rewarded once you summit Osceola, as you will be greeted with panoramic views into Waterville Valley. Take your time on the descent, as there are many loose rocks and gravel.

Dogs are allowed off leash here, but due to the substantial grade of the majority of this trail and rough scrambles, I would strongly recommend against bringing your 4 legged companion.

I lost a black diamond carbon fiber hiking pole on the trail (I think it had fallen out near Osceola's summit.) If anyone finds this please contact me at joe@highlinecapitalpartners.com

I will provide a finders fee. Thank you!

Beautiful view !

Decent summit views for an easy to moderate effort. Nothing challenging on this trail. It makes for good exercise with little to no traffic.

First half is pretty easy, gets a little steeper through the middle and then it levels out once you get closer to the lake. Really nice views all around the lake, didn’t go in for a swim just because it was a little cooler out but look forward to coming back on a hot summer day!

Little over 5 miles round trip. You park at the flume and head up. Going under the bridges for the highway and rt 3. Trail is mostly moderate and some spots a tad but higher than moderate but absolutely not difficult at all. Views from the top are gorgeous as you sit on the large rock mountain side.

Great hike. Steep at the beginning; good workout. Beautiful lake at the top and a flat loop that goes around it. Plenty of places to stop and admire the beauty. We had a gorgeous day and will certainly do this one at some point in the future, maybe adding the ridge trail.

great time

Moderate trail at most. Very enjoyable especially once you reach the lake. Beautiful views at the summit. Circling the lake was awesome on the man-made tree trail. Ascending and descending through the woods didn’t have too many views but the trail was well worth it. Great for a short hike.

Excellent trail. Moderate to hard I think is a more accurate description of the terrain. We also recorded 4 miles from start to finish. Maybe the trail has been extended over time? Either way, a fantastic trail with a big reward at the summit. The views are fantastic but what also makes the top amazing are the huge boulders you reach. I hiked with my teenage daughters, her friends, husband and two dogs. My old dogs found the hike a little too strenuous. . Enjoy!

My favorite quick hike

This was a great hike and a great workout to get to the top of the mountain to reach the lake. We took our two dogs and they were able to get through all parts of the trail without our help. The reason we did not give this trail 5 stars is because we wish the loop around the lake were longer, since it took approx. 45 mins of high intensity energy to get up to the lake, but then only 25 mins to go around the lake. Overall would definitely recommend but keep in mind this is not a leisurely trail and you will definitely be getting a workout for the full 2 hours it took us to do the trail loop!

Very nice. We got an early start and it was a little busy on the way back.

Not mentioned in any of the reviews - dark blue blazes on this trail, which made it easy to watch for when it crossed over the water. This trail was lovely and quiet, I had the trail to myself, and lots of places to stop and enjoy the water.
I decided when I got to the Cascade Brook Trail (AT) to head on up to Lonesome Lake. Blazes become white (AT) I am glad I did it. I felt it was a good introduction to hiking in this area. But it was tough. Lots of wet, muddy rock scrambling. We don't have things like this in Ohio! lol and it was tougher than other sections of the AT I had previously hiked in N. Carolina.
The AMC hut was awesome! And the CROO helped me figure out a less rocky trail down (my knees were feeling the hike). They sent me down Lonesome Lake Trail to Pemi Trail to make a loop. Total mileage around 5.2 + . It took me about 5 hrs. (I hike slow, lol).

This is a beautiful -- albeit objectively difficult -- trail. Not for the weak of heart/hurt of knees! There is a solid mile of scaling rocks, scrambling, even outright rock climbing. There isn't an views on the East Peak, but some great views on the way there, and on the way to the main peak -- and the views from Osceola are AMAZING. If you're in good shape, I really recommend this!

So much road noise and parts of the trail at the beginning are in need of repair.

Steep rock climbing!

Greeley pond trail was quiet and full of greenery and babbling streams to cross. Ascending is was tough and relentless up hill with lots of boulders to manage. Good views just before the first summit. Amazing views at Osceola, but the summit was busy. The chimney was a fun scramble, not a big deal compared to the miles of vertical gains prior. Coming back down was worse. I felt this one for 3 days after.

Fabulous family hike! Perfect distance, soft ground the whole way, and a breathtaking payoff! Can’t recommend enough!

Great family hike! Midway on the route was pretty rocky - bigger issue going down than coming up - but my family of 4 plus dog loved it. The lake is spectacular and having the hut there is a bonus! (Bathroom and refilling water bottles!!)
