switch backs almost all the way up but beautiful views from the top

The trail is well-groomed with many platforms to navigate wet areas. Most of the trail winds through wooded areas and the canopy provides a cool, shaded walk. We were hoping for more views of the pond, but still a scenic walk in the Vermont woods.

This is a great network of trails. Saw where reviewers had trouble with app. I did a web search, downloaded and printed a trail map. The trails are wide and well defined but poorly marked. We had no trouble finding our way. Trails on the app are only what someone has hiked and supplied to the app. Basic woodcraft beats GPS everytime.

So many wildflowers in the fields surrounding the pond! Many areas with planks that go over wet spots, a well-maintained trail. When we're back in the area we'll definitely do it again!

I would do it once but not as a repeat hike. It’s more of an ascent or climb than a hike. The view from the platform is lovely but it is of the valley below and not of the rock formations. We were under the impression that the trail led to the actual rocks so this was a bit of a letdown. Progress markers on the trail would be a great addition. One and done for us.

I really enjoyed this trail. It is a climb on the way to the viewing platform but it is well worth it. The trail was wide and well maintained.

Great for a little neighborhood / family friendly nature preserve! Saw deer, frogs, and turtles ! Saw a few people walking and jogging on a Saturday late morning.

This was a great and well marked trail! Almost all shaded single track so you do have to stay aware for mountain bikers and horseback riders. I went out on a rather warm Sunday around noon and only came across one other runner and two mountain bikers. My GPS tracked just under 500ft of both elevation loss and gain and I ran/hiked the loop clockwise in two hours. Will definitely be going back.

Nice waterfall . Easy to get to!

Huge muddy puddles left by ATVs. Tho no ATVs seen on trails that day. The name of the stream is Gillis Falls. However, as other reviewer’s note there are no waterfalls on these trails. I recommend accessing the trails about 1/4 mile south of the equestrian ctr and just going out and back on the main gravel road that parallels the stream. Park at the 90° turn before the road goes up the steep hill.

Not Closed! I called and they do sometimes close when weather is bad, but they are still OPEN!

Fun trip around the lake!

This is a nice hike that is set up for everyone. Well maintained path to the observation deck that included benches for people rest along the way. The bonus to this hike is when you get to the top and can go out on the fins of Seneca Rocks.

I rated this as a decent outing because the falls are nice and refreshing. This is NOT a 2.9 mike hike. It is a little under a half mile to the falls.

Nice, wide looping trails through an aromatic, shadey cedar forest. Can get mosquito-ey at dusk in mid-summer.

NOT 2.9 miles. More like a 5 minute stroll from the parking lot and then BAM ... you’re in a pristine medieval forest that looks like a movie set. The falls are splendid, but make sure you enjoy them from above as well as below. From the top, the dangerous and gorgeous views of the slot canyon below are a must see. Who knew this was just off the highway? Now you know. Put it on your short list of things to see in the Stowe area.

Easy trails but lots of horse feces. Not very scenic

It was ok, but definitely would not do again. View is lovely, but nothing spectacular or worth all the people on the more narrow switchbacks. I would count it as an easy climb if crowds were low.

Great loop. Didn’t see anyone else on the entire trek. Moderate with a 3.5 year old on your back. Very pretty and well maintained!

Great waterfall and short hike. Water was crystal clear and the perfect temperature to cool down in July.

This is a nice easy out and back with beautiful forest, fields and flowers with Shelburne bay and Lake Champlain views.

Great little hike. We were checking it out for hiking with friends that don’t hike. This is an easy one with beautiful falls. We started out around 7 AM and had the trail to ourselves. Also went past the falls for another 3/4 of a mile just for the exercise. Nice trails with a couple steep spots that can get the heart rate up.

Moderate is the perfect way to describe the difficulty - a gradual ascent up to the platform through switchbacks, your heart will be pumping but not so much that you need to stop very often. The view is wonderful & as it’s a mostly shaded path through the woods it can be done on even hot days. I recommend parking in the heritage house lot rather than taking the trail from the visitor center & just stopping by that after the hike.

Steady climb up. Lots of switchback but a great trail. Very we maintained. Ton of people out- kids and puppies included. It is a good bit of cardio and is not a light walk. Proper footwear is encouraged . The overlook platform is very nice. We climbed a little past that on the rocks. This is only suggested if you are confident in your skills and have proper shoes on. There’s a lot of climbers utilizing this as well. Moderate is a good rating.

Loved this trail. There are also lots of conjoining trails that allow you to make this longer if you want to. It’s fun to go down to the river in hot weather too.

While it was a nice little hike, we were all very disappointed about the state of the trail. I guess there are people that go horseback riding on these trails so they were pretty messed up in some sections from the horses going through the trail when it was wet and there were some sections that were very soft from the horses ruining them and my husband almost lost a shoe. Would expect things to get soft if it had rained recently but it has been weeks since it rained. Overall an easy well marked trail that my kids didn't have any problem with and there were some nice views of the Patapsco River.

quick hike, and a must see.

Great trail! Must look out for mountain bikers tho - they come up quick! Really great trail - easily marked.

I went running on this trail and enjoyed SO much! I had trouble on some of the muddy spots when I was running and slipped!
