Fun and easy hike and the fall was beautiful. The parking lot was closed because of fire season. The incline from the parking area was the hardest part and added a mile to the hike. When the parking lot is open I would recommend for children.

Trail closed due to fires right now

Not very challenging, but do not underestimate the stairs. My buddy was dying on the way back.

Kind of hard to find the entrance. A lot of interesting graffiti everywhere. Very green right now.

Good trail run. Easy to maneuver, lightly trafficked.

I love the alder trees here, clean, creek, picnic area, waterfalls, frogs, toads, birds, palm trees, very nice, not so busy

You can have picnics at the first trees, Willow, Pine, Spruce, Alder, Fig, Castor Bean, Cottonwood, and Sycamore

The Trail is a fire road 70% of the canyon, the end takes you up a few hills, dropping down to the best oak forest of the hike, then ending at the Sensoen Street, I saw some tracks going up the meadows past Sensoen Street, I’ll explore it next time, seems to take you up to the waterfall, or something?

The California Tree Frog and the Southern California Black Walnut are very rare, found here, in this Riparian Zone, there were goldfish in the first pond, someone dumped them I guess...

That’s All!!

Nice moderate hike, some cool places on the way

Good quick hike, awesome pond

Great trail. Good for dogs. Probably not kids, though. Very steep in places.

nice hike it has couple small waterfalls, around 1 miles is uphill and the rest is easy

I hiked what I think is this trail today, although I am having trouble reconciling the map with the description. I hiked clockwise from Mulholland to Bent Arrow to Temescal Canyon to Garapito Canyon. Bent Arrow does not follow a densely wooded creek, so there may be another trail. I did see one on the map called Bay Tree trail; however, it must be farther east on Mulholland. However, when I used GPS and compared where I was with the map, it showed where I was supposed to be. It also comes out right at Garapito. Anyway, I really enjoyed the hike. Garapito Canyon is very pretty, and would probably be quite lovely in the Spring. I think hiking this loop counterclockwise might be harder than hiking it clockwise. Otherwise it is not hard at all, if you hike at all.

Went on it today was pretty easy but had a great time and saw such wonderful views

Decent outing with stream still active even into Fall. Moments of solitude but busy trail near housing and major roads. Moderate only due to some elevation changes but small portions of trail are even paved albeit broken down. Overall a nice nature outing for the area.

Nice but a lot of up and down and much of it is heavily trafficked.

Believe it or not the graffiti (an the unique graffiti house at the bottom of the trail) is the highlight of this trail. Make sure you do the loop clockwise. There is a gate (more like a break in the fence) to the left just at the beginning of the loop. Go through this gate a walk down lots of steep steps. Make a left at the bottom of the steps to continue along the trail. If you choose to do the loop in a counter clockwise fashion you may have trouble finding the steps to go back up (the entrance was not so clear and you have to climb up a ton of very steep stairs. I would definitely recommend doing the loop clockwise.

really super for kids and dogs. wonderful hike

Nice walk. Saw many birds. Went on Sunday and there was a ranger on premise.

WARNING The entrance of the loop (not the starting of the whole route) is not obviously and can be easily missed!

I thought if I kept walking on the paved road I would eventually go into the loop and loop back, but that didn’t happen. Not until I walked 4 miles did I realized I was probably off the track because the while trail suppers to be 3.4 mile and I haven’t seen repeated scene.

When I walked back in darkness, I checked the map and saw two open parts on the fences under my flashlight, and there were staircases going down. I suppose that’s the loop... it’s really not obvious and clear, I’d suggest everyone to check their map if it’s their first time here, and maybe read the graffiti on road, though there were also misleading ones like “truck —>” and pointed to the cliff.

Other than that, it’s a easy, mostly-paved route, and the scenery is amazing!

It was a nice trail. I set out at 7:30 a.m and finished it in 2 hours. Carry water and sunscreen!

I wish it would be longer but it’s still a nice stroll. Good place to get away and clear your head.

Great trail. Very clean and wide.
We encountered a baby rattle snake, so be careful. Be aware of your surroundings. It’s all part of the hike/walk.

Nice trail not to hard good work out

Loved it!! Such an amazing peaceful place

This is my go-to hike when I want a quick but tough workout. It takes me between 50min-1 hour to get from parking lot to the peak (summer heat + doggies wanting breaks makes it take an hour).

There is no shade along the way so plan accordingly. In the summer, it can get brutally hot so pack extra (cold) water and leave the dogs at home if it's really hot because it's too much for their paws.

You can go back down from where you came OR you can go down Stough Canyon to avoid the steep steps down. Ouch for the knees! Yes, it does take quite a bit longer to go down Stough (and then along the golf course back to parking lot) but it's worth it for the gradual descent, in my opinion.

Love this hike. Can be super packed on the weekends so come during the week during the middle of the day. Beautiful little oasis at the bottom of the falls. Don't walk across the reeds and cattails just let nature be and respect it from a distance :)

It is a good hike overall, but not great. The length is recorded more of a 3.8 mile hike.

Initial descent is steep and on a road for the first 3/4 mile. From there it’s dirt roads/trails.

Several other hikers along the trail, one of which warned of a rattle snake ahead on the trail.

Unfortunately we got to the end and there was no water at the falls. Definitely a disappointment, but just no rain recently to provide the spectacle.

This is your go-to family friendly hike. Be sure to arrive early as parking spots fill up quickly. (I suggest arriving around 8 am unless you want to hike to the trailhead) You will need an Adventure pass. You could purchase a day permit near the trailhead for 5 dollars, make sure you have it in cash. Have fun!

Difficult, yet approachable. Steep, but manageable. Great view! Will definitely be back.
